Comic book lots from the Golden Age range from major keys like Superman #1 Nova Scotia pedigree in a rarely seen CGC 5.0 to Sensation Comics #1 CGC 8.0 (first Wonder Woman cover), scarce high-grade Batman and Detective issues with great covers, and pristinely preserved pedigree examples from collections such as the Gaines File and Mile High collections. Original Comic Art lots range from Incredible Hulk original pages that have not seen the light of day in many years, to work from great artists like Frank Miller and George Perez, to work by icons like Frank Frazetta and Graham Ingels. Other impressive items in this auction are the rare Siegel and Shuster Superman "prototype" fanzine (published years prior to Superman being introduced by DC in Action Comics #1) and a Superman costume worn in the movies by Christopher Reeve. Here is just a small sample of other comic book and original art highlights within this blockbuster auction:

  • The Collection of Bill Milano: We are proud to present to our bidders a collection of 63 key comic books from the Bill Milano collection. In 1990, Bill fell in love with the comic book genre and with the purchase of his first Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, he also became aware that comic books were well worth investing in. He had a great eye for key and high-grade material and picked off the stuff whenever he could. Bill never did get into reading the new comics, but if it was old, scarce and a key issue, Bill was interested! Now, 18 years later, Bill has decided that he's going to turn a small batch of books in for a Ferrari — not too shabby, Bill!
  • Incredible, ultra high-grade Amazing Spider-Man examples:
    This is one of the best Amazing Spider-Man offerings that we have ever had the opportunity to present to our bidders. Some of the breathtaking highlights include: Amazing Spider-Man #6, #8, #9, #12, #18, #19, #26, #19, #32, #33, #35, #38, #39, #42, #44, #45, #49, #52, #56, #61, #69, #73, #74, #75, #80, #86, #89, #93 and others all in CGC 9.6! And, #19, #56, , #57, #59, #60, #62, #64, #65, #77, #88, #97, #122, #123, #125, #135, #136, #138 and #163 in CGC 9.8!
  • Some "Incredible" original art Hulk pages that have not seen the light of day in years, including Origin and Transformation pages from issue #4, by Jack Kirby, and from issue #102, by Marie Severin, as well as a fantastic Steve Ditko page from issue #6. Also a moody Kirby page where Hulk crosses over into Eternals #15. Another great Kirby piece in the auction is ultimate Jack Kirby monster cover (recreation) Strange Tales #89 (FIN FANG FOOM!).
  • Superman #1 CGC 5.0 Nova Scotia pedigree
So far, this is the book of the auction, so rare and highly demanded that ComicLink never offered a comparable example! This issue is widely considered one of the top 5 comic books in the world, and it is extremely rare to be offered the opportunity to bid on any example remotely comparable to this one.
  • 1933 Jerry Siegel / Joe Shuster Fanzine Introducing Superman (5+ years before Action Comics #1!)
Five-plus years before Action Comics #1, and Superman #1 came out, creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster unleashed the concept of Superman in their 1933 science fiction fanzine while they were still in high school! Little did they know that the "Reign of Superman" would last forever! This rare fanzine is seldom seen and this is the first one that we have ever offered. Another exciting piece of Superman memorabilia within this auction is an original Christopher Reeve Superman costume.
  • A rare offering of a Barry Smith original art page from Conan #1, classic Frank Miller pages from Daredevil and Wolverine, and a seldom seen Silver Age Batman cover, by Novick / Infantino.
  • Incredible Hulk #1 CGC 8.5
This first Hulk issue is the rarest of the key Silver Age Marvels that came out in the early 1960s. At 8.5, it is a high-grade example that is both scarce and very highly demanded.
  • Art from renowned comic genre artists such as Lou Fine, Frank Frazetta, Graham Ingels, Bernie Wrightson, Carmine Infantino and Jeff Jones, as well as an eclectic offering of quality Modern Age pieces from the likes of Todd McFarlane, George Perez, Jim Lee, Sam Keith and others.
  • Many Batman and Detective Comics issues including the best combination of Joker, Catwoman, Two-Face and Penguin covers we've offered in years!
  • Marvel Mystery Comics #5 CGC 8.0 Larson pedigree
The offered example from the highly regarded Larson collection sports the highest grade that CGC has assigned for this classic Timely issue as well as White Pages! Extremely rare in grade, it is one of only two to be assigned the 8.0 tier and is truly a find.
  • More than 450 comic books from Pedigree Collections, including more than 100 fresh, never-before auctioned Gaines File copies, more than 60 Mile Highs, more than 80 Crowleys, numerous Silver Age pedigrees such as the Pacific Coasts and Bostons, as well as ultra-high-grade examples from the Fire Lake collection.
  • Rare Golden Age gems such as All-American Comics #61 CGC 9.0, Batman #6 CGC 9.4, Detective Comics #120 CGC 9.4 Mile High, Exciting Comics #28 CGC 7.0, Four Color #386 CGC 9.2, Marvel Mystery Comics #8 CGC 7.0, Sensation Comics #1 CGC 8.0, many early and great Batman and Detective Comics issues, and tons more.
  • Silver Age runs, many scarce in the conditions offered, of ultra-high-grade Flash, Incredible Hulk, Silver Surfer and Avengers.
Silver Age keys, like Aquaman #1 CGC 9.4, Avengers #57 CGC 9.6, Batman #190 CGC 9.6, Fantastic Four #12 CGC 9.0, Silver Surfer #14 CGC 9.6, Tales of Suspense #39 CGC 9.0, Fantastic Four #1 CGC 6.0, Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 5.5 and many more.
  • Bronze Age keys such as Hulk #181 CGC 9.8 (first Wolverine), House of Secrets #92 CGC 9.6 (first Swamp Thing), Giant-Size X-men #1 CGC 9.8, X-Men #94 CGC 9.6, and Green Lantern #76 CGC 9.2 (first Neal Adams Green Lantern / Green Arrow)
  • Many more highlights are in this auction!
