This month has included many exciting additions to the Comics Registry! The most recent addition, a user-requested custom set, was DC Bronze Age First Issues. This set contains several comics already featured in other sets, but new additions to the registry include: Blackhawk #244, Firestorm #1, Love Stories #147, and Tales of the New Teen Titans #1. Some of the newly created Modern Age sets include Sensational She-Hulk, The Boys, Venom: Lethal Protector, World War Hulk and Zombies! Feast. Also included in the Modern Age additions is the (Saga of the) Swamp Thing set. This storyline started in Swamp Thing (1972-6) by Wein and Wrightson, but is most notable for the issues written by Alan Moore, which are considered the most desirable of the series.
A notable addition from the Bronze Age is the set for Plop!. This humorous comic series features striking covers of odd characters and includes the art of Basil Wolverton and Sergio Aragones, both well-loved for their work in this genre. Collectors of Mad, Cracked, and other “magazines of weird humor” will enjoy displaying their collections of this title using this new set.
Another notable addition, but this time from the Golden Age, is Sensation Comics. This title primarily featured stories starring Wonder Woman, but many other key characters made appearances in this title over the years, including the Black Pirate, Gay Ghost, and Atom. Also, in an effort to make the Registry more functional for Golden Age enthusiasts, we have created an Action Comics #1-100 set for collectors of this title who focus on this period. Yet another title from the Golden Age that deserves mentioning is the set that we have created for the original series of Casper the Friendly Ghost. First published by St. John Publishing Co. and later taken over by Harvey Publications, this title has captured the heart of many collectors.
Many other sets have been added, expanded and updated including the Justice League of America (complete) set. If you have any requests for new sets that you would like to see added to the registry or any sets that you feel need expanding, just sign up for the chat boards and post them here.
