Hake’s January Auction with Many CGC-Graded Comic Book Offerings
In Hake’s Americana & Collectibles (a division of Geppi’s Entertainment Auctions) auction this January, Hake’s is once again offering a selection of CGC-graded books to bid on. A variety of comic genres are covered, ranging from Western to Crime, Science Fiction to Superheroes and Horror, from funny animals to character comics such as Mutt & Jeff and Marge’s Little Lulu and Tubby. Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel, Jr., Lev Gleason’s Daredevil, The Lone Ranger, Dick Tracy, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Uncle Scrooge, Woody Woodpecker, Spider-Man, and Marvel’s Daredevil all make appearances. Classic TV shows such as Dark Shadows, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, I Spy, Get Smart, and The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. are represented, as well as characters from more recent memory – Star Wars (first issue), G.I. Joe, and Transformers (first Marvel issue).
Two Disney oddities are also being offered in this auction – CGC-graded copies of Donald Duck Super Prize List, a four-page prize list issued by Ice Cream Novelties, Inc. This example is tied with one other as being the highest-graded example of this title.
The other Disney offering is an example of the Dumbo Song Book, which, as its name implies, contains lyrics from Disney films.
Recent comic books from Gemstone Publishing (a division of Geppi’s Entertainment Publications) are also up for bid, including a Gem Mint 10.0 copy of Walt Disney’s Uncle Scrooge #319, as well as other high-grade examples of Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories and other examples of Uncle Scrooge.
In addition to Hake’s CGC offerings, they are also offering a varied assortment of non-CGC books, including a reading copy of Spider-Man’s first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15, and a large run of early Amazing Spider-Man issues. Golden Age Green Lantern comics are also up for bid, featuring classic covers with Doiby Dickles. Will Eisner’s The Spirit makes appearances as well.
Don’t miss out on your chance to own the first appearance of Marvel’s ever-popular Wolverine in Incredible Hulk #181! Since this first appearance in 1974, Wolverine has gone on to become one of the most popular comic characters being published today. Witness this epic clash between the Incredible Hulk, Wendigo, and Wolverine, years before Wolvie’s X-Men days.
Hake’s is also offering more bound volume comics. Titles include – Blondie, Henry, Lassie, The Lone Ranger, New Funnies, Porky Pig, Red Ryder, Tom and Jerry – many being File Copies. The auction goes online January 10th and closes January 29th through the 31st. For more information, visit Hake’s Web site, www.hakes.com.
