Guests: While biased, I'd put our guest list up against anyone. The newest addition is Stephane Roux, the ultra-talented cover artist of Birds of Prey over on a visit from France. To keep our international flavor, we'll have Esteban Maroto (Red Sonja, Lady Rawhide, among many others — one of the masters), Alfonzo Azpiri (Lorna), Juan Giminez (Metabarons — do yourself a favor and check out this guy's stuff — mind-boggling), and the returning talents of Sanjulian and Jordi Bernet!
We also have the United States covered quite nicely as well: Adam Hughes, Frank Cho, Michael Golden, and Travis Charest will be returning along with the New York contingent of Michael Bair, Mark Texeira, Ray Lago, and Buzz. Other returning guests include Ernie Chan, Tony DeZuniga, Alex Nino, Danny Bulanadi, Mick Gray, Russ Heath, Bill Morrison, Darick Robertson, Stuart Sayger, Steve Mannion, Paul Smith, Ryan Sook, Tim Vigil, David Williams, and Dean Yeagle. Greg Horn will be making his Bay Area debut with our show. Other guests new to Super-Con include Craig Hamilton, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Connor, Bill Presing, Terry Moore, Joe Jusko, and Don McGregor. The best part is that we're not done yet.
We've also arranged for a number of media guests to drop in for the show, including Jane Wiedlin (of the Go-Go's and soon to be a comic character), Denise Crosby (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Henry Thomas (E.T.: The Extraterrestrial, Red Velvet). Again, more media stars will be added in the coming weeks.
Programming: The inking panel will be making a return engagement featuring pencils by two of our special guests. More later on this. As with last year, there will be an auction to allow you to take home one or more of these original works of art.
Best yet, Super-Con will feature screenings of two special features: Red Velvet, a new movie featuring Henry Thomas and Kellie Garner and the WORLD PREMIERE of a new Frank Cho-directed short feature. Frank will be available to discuss the making of the film and what he has planned for the celluloid world in the near future. It promises to be fun.
Of course, CGC will be in attendance and will have Signature Series witnesses available, so stop by their booth for details and pricing.
Hotel: We have arranged a limited number of hotel rooms at the San Jose Marriott which is less than one block from the South Hall of the San Jose Convention Center. It doesn't get more convenient and we have locked in a limited number of rooms at a discounted special rate. We're also working on a surprise or two for those of you who stay at the hotel. More later.
Tickets: Tickets will go on sale shortly. Prices will be $20 for a single day and $30 for both days. However, advance ticket prices will be available at a $5 discount. We strongly encourage the purchase of advance tickets and hope that the discounted price works for everyone. We will also be announcing shortly local comic book shops which will be carrying advance ticket sales.
Booth space: Booth space is currently available. Information is available, along with a PDF of the contract, at www.super-con.com.
I look forward to seeing you all at Super-Con 2008, May 17-18th. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to drop me an e-mail at the return address.
Best,
Steve Morger
