As always, ComicConnect never charges buyer’s premiums, and only accepts a 10% commission from sellers for completed sales. Benefits of free membership include access to a universal reach of vintage comic collectors, and state-of-the-art tools such as the ComicConnect Want List Service and Bounty Hunt... connecting the top buyers and sellers of Golden, Silver and Bronze Age comic books across the globe.

The owners and staff of ComicConnect would like to express that their thoughts go out to CGC newsletter readers who have been watching their investments go up and down in the stock market these past few weeks. Whether you are a retiree, someone whose career is tied to the market or a working-class Joe... whatever your walk of life, they wish you well.

Comic collectors, take heart! Although ComicConnect cannot predict what the future holds, they will readily tell you that right now and during the last recession, they’ve seen comic books shine as sustainable investments. After the dotcom bust, ComicConnect’s proprietors and staff witnessed growth in comic books as counter-cyclical investments — that is, investments that thrive during times of an economic downturn. Historically, commodities such as gold, silver and oil, and industries such as alcohol and medical services, have tended to emerge as “safe-houses” for investors, at least by textbook definition. In recent years, many have categorized vintage comic books as the same, even to the point where NBC’s Keith Olberman recently mused on Countdown, “What now? Should we put all our money into vintage comic books?”

With vintage comic books, there is finite supply, and opportunity for growth. For decades, vintage comics have demonstrated steady appreciation and returns, and ComicConnect believes the Internet has and will continue to have a profoundly positive impact on the hobby by connecting new and old collectors across the globe.

Case in point, the bidders and traffic in ComicConnect’s September Event Auction virtually doubled from that of their previous Event Auction in March. Record-setting prices were achieved the evening after the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at an unheard of 777 point drop. Books that sold included Showcase #4 CGC 9.4 and Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 8.5.

ComicConnect has faith in the American market and the global economy. Unlike the disappearing companies of the dotcom fallout years ago, most blue-chip companies providing core goods and services aren’t expected to going away anytime soon. Yes, there are market corrections, and the painful correction we are experiencing now is undoubtedly far from over. ComicConnect doesn’t encourage anyone to take all of their money out of the stock market and pour it into comics. However, they do recommend vintage comics as a “buy” for a portion of any collector’s diversified investment portfolio.

ComicConnect would like to thank CGC newsletter readers for their support of the site, the hobby and the comic book medium. For their part, they will continue to do their best to save you money while maintaining a viable enterprise for all the site’s members. Whether it be combining shipping when asked on multiple invoices, their policy to never charge buyer’s premiums, their free listing policy, or their low seller’s commission structure, ComicConnect will continue to strive to be your #1 choice for buying and selling Golden, Silver and Bronze Age comic books.
