Heritage Presents the Capital City Collection of Original-Owner Silver Age Marvels
A near-complete original-owner Marvel collection will be auctioned by Heritage Auction Galleries, starting with their Nov. 13–14 Dallas Signature sale.
Dubbed the “Capital City Collection,” this newly discovered hoard features a run of Fantastic Four #s 1–50, averaging VF / NM, and the first 9.2, 9.4 and 9.6 copies have begun to return to Heritage after being certified by CGC.
“I got excited about this collection as soon as I saw the first few scans, and when I got to view the books in person I wasn’t disappointed,” said Lon Allen, director of sales for the comics division of Heritage. “We’ve already submitted over 1,000 books to CGC for certification! They’re just starting to get back to our offices now, but there are already winners like Fantastic Four #16, tied for the highest grade yet assigned at 9.6. And yes, all the keys like Daredevil #1, Hulk #1, etc., are on-hand.”
Other early highlights include Fantastic Four #2 (9.0), Fantastic Four #4 (9.4), and #50 (9.4), Daredevil #3 (NM 9.4), and Justice League of America #18 (9.4).
The collection includes more than 22,000 comics, mostly Marvel but with some DC also present. The highest-value books will be featured in the Nov. 13–14 Signature auction, with many more offered in the Sunday Internet Comics Auctions at HA.com.
Heritage’s Vintage Comic and Comic Art Auction will be held Nov. 13–14, 2008, in Dallas, Texas. For more information, please visit www.HA.com.
