Frequently Asked Questions: Submissions at Shows and Conventions
Where can I fill out a submission form before I come to the show?
If you are planning on submitting your books for on-site grading at a show where this service is offered (check events page) then you can fill out the submission form using the link located underneath the show listing on the events page. This link will be accessible up to one month before the convention. If the show is not designated for on-site grading, this link will not be present.
If you are planning on submitting your books to be graded at CGC's facility under the estimated turnaround for the tier selected, or if on-site grading is not offered, there are a few options for submission. The first option would be to visit one of CGC's Internet Affiliates (listed under Option 3 on the How To Submit page and fill out a form using their secure link. Then you can print this form to bring to the show with your submission. The next option would be to join the Collectors Society. Please note that the introductory packet will take some time to arrive, so if you prefer to use the coupon at the convention we prefer if you join at the show. Also, the coupon is not eligible for on-site grading of any kind. The last option would be to visit a local dealer (listed under Option 2 on the How To Submit page and pick up a form from there to use at the show.
What if I can't get a form before the show or I need help submitting?
This is not a problem, as CGC's customer service staff will be happy to provide you with a form at our booth and assist you with submitting your comics. You will need to estimate a value on each comic for insurance purposes in order to submit, so this research can be done in advance to expedite the process. Also, we ask that you review our Services and Fees page, so that you can get an idea of how you may prefer to submit, and call our toll-free number (1-877-662-6642) with any questions that may arise.
How should I pack my comics to bring them to the convention?
You do not need to pack your comics as you would for shipment, we will take care of that. You just need to bring them to us safely packed in a comic bag with backing boards for each book. Once submitted, the books are fully insured and are shipped back to our facility, well-packed in an insured shipment. No mylars, backboards, cases or folders can be returned so please pack your comics ready for shipment.
What if I want to have my books signed? How do I arrange to get Signature Series?
You will want to bring your books by the CGC booth first to arrange the witnessing of the signature. If a request is made early, it can be much easier to arrange, depending on the artist requested. CGC will attempt to fulfill as many requests as possible, but no guarantees can be made. The signature must be witnessed by a CGC representative and the comic must be immediately submitted in order to be designated as Signature Series when graded. If I am a dealer or have a VIP badge can I submit my comics early?
If the CGC booth is fully set up, then we will take submissions!
