Census-Topping “Pinnacle Hill Collection” Golden Age at Heritage, Feb. 25–27

While the CGC VF 8.0 Detective Comics #27 has gotten its well-deserved share of publicity, the Pinnacle Hill Collection from which it hails has produced plenty more outstanding Golden Age. The books will be sold without reserve in Heritage’s Dallas Signature Auction (February 25–27) as well as in the Sunday Internet Comics Auction ending Feb. 28 at HA.com

The collection focuses on the 1939–1945 period and is especially heavy on #1 issues and keys.

So far over thirty books that CGC has certified are now the sole highest-graded copies of their respective issues. These include:

Captain America Comics #15 CGC NM 9.4
The collection has the whole early run of “Cap.”

Detective Comics #62 CGC NM 9.4
The highest-graded copy by far of one of the first and best Joker covers.

Detective Comics #64 CGC VF+ 8.5
First appearance of the Boy Commandos. Double cover copy.

Fight Comics #31 CGC VF+ 8.5
A shocking decapitation cover!

More Fun Comics #72 CGC NM+ 9.6
By far the nicest copy we’ve seen.

Mystic Comics #6 CGC NM 9.4
Plenty of Timelys are included in the collection.

Silver Streak Comics #8 (Lev Gleason, 1941) CGC FN / VF 7.0 Off-white to white pages…
The only unrestored copy of this issue CGC has graded.

The Spirit #nn (#1) CGC NM+ 9.6
A book we’ve seldom offered in any grade.

Spy Smasher #1 CGC VF / NM 9.0
Much tougher in high grade than people realize!
