CGC Expands Online Census

SARASOTA, Florida (October 1, 2013) — Certified Guaranty Corporation® (CGC®) has announced that its online census now includes Playboy, Sports Illustrated and lobby cards. The CGC Census is a comprehensive online database of the CGC grades assigned to all comic books, magazines and lobby cards certified by CGC. It is a benefit of free membership in the CGC Collectors Society and is available on the CGC website, CGCcomics.com, under the Census menu. The CGC Census provides a quick and easy way to browse the most comprehensive database of these collectibles.

CGC began certifying Playboy and Sports Illustrated magazines in June 2009. Lobby cards, which were used to promote movies typically with drawings of several scenes, have been certified by CGC since April 2010. Like comics, magazines and lobby cards are graded on CGC’s industry-standard 10 point scale.

“This is an important step to expand our database by including all collectibles certified by CGC. Our comprehensive web resources empower collectors to make more informed buying and selling decisions,” said Paul Litch, CGC’s primary grader and restoration detection specialist.
