Detective Comics #27 Apparent 8.5 and Deep Ultra-High-Grade Avengers & Fantastic Four Runs Highlight Pedigree Comics’ March Grand Auction

Posted on 3/6/2012

Pedigree Comics Inc. just received on consignment extraordinary runs of two of the best all-time Marvel superhero group titles, the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, and the books will be available to bid on and buy in their upcoming Grand Auction.

This incredible online event is scheduled to begin in less than one week on the night of Monday, March 12th, and last for 10 days until the evening of Thursday, March 22nd. The auction will have a few hundred choice high-grade CGC-certified Marvel and DC titles from the Silver and Bronze Ages including many key and first appearance issues. There is no Buyers Premium on any of the lots in the auction and almost every book will be listed without a reserve. Every book is CGC-graded and the minimum bid is only $100. You can check out over 100 high-grade, CGC-certified comic books right now in the Auction Preview at www.PedigreeComics.com under the Grand Auctions banner.

The two new superhero group consignments are very deep and mostly contain 9.6 and 9.8 copies. The Avengers run has over 40 issues between #1 and #58 and 60% of the books are in 9.8. There are a bunch of pedigrees to choose from, mostly from the Curator Collection. With "The Avengers" motion picture scheduled for a May 4, 2012 release, Silver Age examples of this great title, especially in ultra high-grade, are expected to have increased demand and this is a fabulous opportunity to fill holes in your runs and / or upgrade on lower certified copies. It is also an opportunity to upgrade on page quality as most of these books have snow white pages. Almost every book from the consignment will be listed without a reserve. The other books in this consignment include the highest graded and best existing copy of Daredevil Battles Hitler #1, a 9.4 with off-white to white pages; a Captain America Comics #5 in 8.0 (third highest certified copy with only 3 graded higher) and Superman #2 in 9.2 with off-white to white pages, the second best known example behind only one in 9.2.

For you Silver Age Marvel key and first issue collectors, there are many great high grade books to choose from. The list includes Avengers #1 in 9.4, the second highest graded copy and 4th best known behind only 3 in 9.6; Avengers #4 in 9.0; Daredevil #1 in 9.2 with off-white/white pages; Iron Man #1 in 9.8 with white pages (Pacific Coast); Journey Into Mystery #83 in 9.0; Sgt.
