There were 296 CGC-certified comic books to choose from, and more than 90% of the books sold (only a few items were listed with reserves). The total sales exceeded $330,000, and with post-auction deals in the works, the final total will exceed $350,000.
The results are in from Pedigree Comics Inc.’s recently completed Grand Auction. The auction began the night of Monday, July 9, and ended the night of Thursday, July 19, in the separate Grand Auction section of their website (www.PedigreeComics.com).
According to Pedigree Comics’ President and CEO Doug Schmell, “The auction was a great success. We were happy to see many new bidders in the auction, collectors who had just recently found our site. Marvels led the way with many record sales, particularly early Silver Age Marvels in 9.6 and higher, but there was plenty of bidding on 9.2s and 9.4s as well. In particular, Silver Age Amazing Spider-Man issues did incredibly well, spurred by the recently debuted motion picture.
Here are just a few of the highlights from the just completed July Grand Auction:
If you have high-grade CGC-certified comic books to sell or consign, do yourself a favor and contact Pedigree Comics. Please go to the site (www.PedigreeComics.com) for all consignment information or contact them at (561) 422-1120 or (561) 596-911 or by email at DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com. Pedigree Comics is now accepting consignments for their next Grand Auction, scheduled to begin on the night of Saturday, September 22, 2012, and last for 10 days until the night of Tuesday, October 2, 2012. The auction will feature ultra-high-grade Marvels and DCs, plus much more investment quality items. The sooner you consign your books, the more exposure they will receive. Pedigree aggressively promotes and advertises each auction and sends periodic newsletters to all of their more than 18,000 customers announcing the auction items.
Consignors maximize their profits selling in a Grand Auction, more so than on any other auction site or auction house. Pedigree does not charge a Buyers Premium, an amount that most bidders take into consideration when bidding in other sites (the bidders simply deduct that Buyers Premium amount from their final bidding price, meaning less $$ to the consignor and more to the auction site). The higher the value of your book(s) that sell in a Grand Auction, the more $$ you take home under Pedigree Comics’ Climbing Scale. They consistently set new sales records for Silver and Bronze Age comics in each Grand Auction and on their regular site inventory listing and they do not saturate the market with the same material over and over every month. Pedigree’s Grand Auctions are unique and exciting, with new and diversified, top-rated CGC material in each event. Why settle for less by consigning with someone else?
Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the upcoming September Grand Auction by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. It is actually very easy and fun to do. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC-certified books and magazines. They will receive an email notification automatically once you have uploaded the information and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the September Grand Auction to be bid on. You will be amazed how simple it is to utilize the Automated Consignment System.
