Wizard World Chicago has become one of the premier summer comic conventions, and this year should be no exception. Stop by the show Aug. 8–11 and browse Metropolis' world-renown inventory.
“We look forward every year to visiting the Chicagoland area, and especially getting the chance to share a love of comics and pop culture with tens of thousands of fans in the intimate comic book village that pops up every August at the Stephens Convention Center!”
Every year, Frank and Metro COO Vincent Zurzolo arrive armed with thousands of selections from Metropolis’ world-renown inventory of more than 150,000 vintage comics, original art and memorabilia. This year’s show, held August 8–11 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont is no exception and, as always, they are also bringing stacks of requests for longtime clientele and new collectors. “I make a point every year of personally contacting our client base before the big cons,” Cwiklik pointed out. “As the market has changed, and collectors’ interests have diversified, it gets harder to guess what books people might want to see at the show — having specific requests from our customers is great, as we ensure they get just what they are looking for, and we get a better sense of market trends and new fads and hot books.”
“Chicago is one of our favorite cities to visit,” Zurzolo added, “and we never fail to make new friends and new contacts at this show, which gets better every year. At San Diego this year, we brought a record number of requests for clients, and we hope to beat that number for this show, which never fails to impress.”
At this year’s con, Metro will also be highlighting an impressive array of books from the upcoming ComicConnect Fall Event Auction, including a beautiful unrestored Captain America #1 CGC 7.0 and an unrestored Batman #1 CGC 7.0, as well as Metro’s current offerings of an Action Comics #1 CGC 5.5 and a Detective Comics #27 CGC 6.0, both unrestored. “We’re not lacking for eye candy this year; I can tell you that!” enthused Zurzolo, mentioning also the selection of original art on display, including Alex Ross’ stunning trade paperback cover to the History of the DC Universe and classic DC Silver Age covers by Neal Adams, Curt Swan and Murphy Anderson.
Cwiklik points out that requests must be made by end of business Monday, Aug. 5 to make it to the show. “I’d love to bring everything, but space is limited and so is time, so hurry and get me your want lists!” Call Metro directly at 212-260-4147 x10 today, or email your requests to email@example.com.
