Just checked the status on my last submission and ...
Simpsons Comics #143 9.8
Simpsons Comics #145 9.8
Simpsons Comics #146 9.8
I really enjoy this series and have been reading them off and on since the first issue. I've been working on organizing my collection and coming across some of these, that I will be submitting in the future.
Yeah, I paid for a new year at the Associates level.
Had a hard time trying to decide between Associates or Premium. I think that they are both good deals but, I'm kindof low on funds right now, so the choice is made. I hope to make a few submissions soon. The problem is, I don't know when, and I had coupons for free submissions, and almost let them run out. Thank God I remembered to use them. This year I will not have to worry about it.
Picked up some nice books...
As always, the family and I had a great time at the San Diego Comic-Con this year?lots of, hmm, interesting attendees to say the least?we were sure to take plenty of pictures this time around too (thanks to my wife for taking the pic below of Psylocke and Elektra). It took a couple of hours waiting in line, but my wife made it to the Lost panel while the kids and I checked out a brand new Spongebob episode at the Spongebob panel?so cool to see and hear all the peo
I like to say hello, and I didn't get to add and finish the Project Superpowers set,(if you read my last journal you know why.) by the way my set did received a green ribbon. I guess you don't really have to complete a set..lucky me huh. I will be better prepared when I start my 2nd year next month... Well until next time happy collecting.
It toke me more than 3 years to finish this set. Now what?
I started this set in 2006 and finished it a few weeks ago. I still need a better copy of number 3, but its done for now. I also need to add pictures and better descriptions.
So, what set is next? I've decided to stick with DC and try to do Kirbys Fouth World set. I have no idea how hard this set will be. It looks like I will buy the issues in order and read them before submitting. Looks like I shooting for grades between 9.0 and 9.
Number one, number one
You're my second to noneAfter being a Collector's Society Member for three years, I can't put into words how thrilled I was this morning when I saw that I had won a Best in Set Award this year for one of my Captain America Fallen Son sets. When I joined the Society, my goal was to earn as many points as possible in the overall standings. Now, I want to take a different approach. With a little work, determination, and of course discretionary income, I'm confident I can com
The new comic series coming out soon
Hello, after reading the incredible hulk# 600, which by the way was a great comic, they reveal that there will be a war between the hulks. I was curious about it so I went on the hulks website and, they are making a world war hulks! My goal is to collect all of the world war hulks. This fantastic new series is coming out in December, 2009.
I consider a comic's quality based on how well its taken care of and what it means to me as an individual. In the comic sense, the saying goes "its built over time."

Thanks to a fellow Joe Collector on the CGC forum boards and a copy other purchase this week I'm edging ever closer to the complete GI Joe CGC 9.8 collection.
Thanks to a fellow Joe Collector on the CGC forum boards and a copy other purchase this week I'm edging ever closer to the complete GI Joe CGC 9.8 collection. I currently need 9 additional 9.8's to go:
45 (no 9.8's on census)
91 (no 9.8's on census)
106 (no 9.8's on census)
125 (no 9.8's on census)
Hard to find issues and Hard to Believe Prices
Got a hard to find book? I bet when you do find it the price on it is ridiculous, especially if it is CGC graded. A good example of this is Avengers #25 which in the guide ranges from $100-120. There are current issues on Comiclink and Pedigree that have 9.6 issues going for $1400 dollars. Now I'm no math major, but a 140% mark up on a book is pretty stupid.
It seems that every title has one or two issues that fall under the "difficult to fi
Well I have 18 9.8 issues to go to have the entire Marvel GI Joe: ARAH set!
Well I have 18 9.8 issues to go to have the entire Marvel GI Joe: ARAH set! As of today there are still 6 issues that have only received a CGC 9.6 grade. (I have a lead on 3 more!) If I can just find them I hope to have them all by the end of 2010.
Special Missions are more difficult to find but they are coming out slowly.
European Mission are nearly impossible; as of today only issues #1(9.8), #2(8.5), #3(9.4),
here we go
over the last 3 or 4 weeks ive gotten back into my comic collecting hobby, this time around though, ive decided to collect cgc comics, comics that mean something to me and also have a significant value attached to them! i started with todd mcfarlane spidey and the rob leifield new mutants run. i love the art these two put out back then. ill add my xmen run after im done with these two. 94-150, those are the real issues of the xmen. great stuff.
May no more
Hello, just checking in. I was really looking forward to telling you all about my complete Project Superpowers collection that would have been my competive set but, I guess I didn't submit my books soon enough, CGC received them in May and the books have not been shipped/safe yet. I am so used to books being graded and returned in 25-28 days I guess I'm in shock right now. I had never submitted any books in May before, one reason because this is my first year. Can someone tell me
Finally got my first two submissions back, Modern Fast track, and my goal in subbing
Well after a long wait(and I mean long) I got two submissions back. The grades were pretty much what I thought I was going to get except for two.
The grades where as follow:
2 Amazing Spider-man 583 first print Obama variant - both were 9.8's
Amazing Spider-man 583 - 9.8
NYX #3 - 9.8
NYX #5 - 9.8 Qualified(It was signed by Joe Quesada
Ultimatum #3 Sketch Variant - 9.8
Uncanny X-men #266 - 8.5
So I was a little perplexed the other day...
when I spotted several ASM #301's commanding $750+... and it got me thinking. What is it about this book that would make it command such a premium for a 9.8? I mean, nothing that significant happens in the story, so there's gotta be more to it, right?
being the nerd I am, I started doing some quick research and here's what I found... of the 433 graded, only 30 are certified 9.8s (with none grading higher). Statistically, it has a 6.93% top tier
and its a mixed results feeling...
Amazing Spiderman #239 (9.2) / CGC = 9.2
Batman: The Killing Joke (9.8) / CGC = 9.4
Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8 (9.4) / CGC = 9.2
Superman (vol 2) #75 (9.8) / CGC = 9.6
Uncanny X-Men #211 (9.6) / CGC = 9.8
Uncanny X-Men #244 (9.6) / CGC = 9.6
so as you can see, two I thought were 9.8s were not, but, my UXM 211 is... which is great cause I am secretely trying to buy raw copies of UXM #'s 201 - 222 and put together a 9.8 run (opps did I just
YES!!! I'VE DONE IT!!!!!!
I've finally done it fellow collectors!!!
I am now the only person who has managed to put together all 11 of the last issues of GI Joe in 9.8 WP!!!
I finally managed to get that elusive #151 (see pic below).
I saw that one popped up on comiclink, com a few weeks ago for $201, but someone had already bought it. I was so upset!!!
But then one showed up on Ebay a week ago and I set my sights on it! Not only did I get it, but I got it for a cheaper price than the o

My Hunt! Was almost over until they pulled the bid from ebay# 150357049535. I got a email saying he made a mistake and sold out on it.. (I Wanna Punish That Guy!) I put 30.00 bucks thinking i had it made... Dreams are for fools & fools dream the good dream. Well the hunt goes on and now i'm stuck on finding "The All Beef" issue in cgc.. Another fools dream soon to become reality. BTW! The comic is really good. Bloody as hell ju
It?s getting close and I?m ready?
July 22 (Preview Night), 23-26, 2009 (SOLD OUT AGAIN!!!)
This is the premiere event for anyone with an affinity for pop culture, comics in particular. I?ve attended the San Diego Comic-Con at least a half dozen times in the past 12 years, most recently was last year when I took my family (everyone had a blast!). It is INSANE how huge it?s become and thanks to the movie and television industries, comics are now widely
So I just bought a copy of Ultimate Spider-Man 5 graded at 9.8 for 110 dollars. Super sweet deal, that book usually goes for at least 200 bones. I can't wait to get it in the mail. Now all I need is 1,2, and 4 for the first 26 to be complete. Anyone selling those issues for a decent price?
Today is the Greatest Day of my LIFE!
I had just finished creating my account w/ CGC Collectors Society, I have to say I am extremely impressed. Thank You for providing such a great, FREE service to all of us collector's.
