CGC Journals

One more Superboy down...

three to go! So I snagged a nice raw copy of Superboy 4 that I will be taking to San Diego to submit to CGC. I want to add it to my registry set. These now leaves me with three issues to go! I will make my prediction here that I hope to get about a 6.0 on this copy and WHITE pages!

My Visit to Philly

Ahh, no one can understand how much fun I had at this years convention in Philedelphia. I met so many great people and saw so many outstanding comics! I saw some comics like, Amazing Spider-man # 129, Amazing Spiderman #6 and even some older comics like some old Detective Comics issues and some old batman comics. I even got some comic books signed. I got tiny titans #1(Yes I know how silly it is for me to have that comic, but it was already signed and I bought it on Ebay.)signed by Franco Aure

Trying to decide what to get graded

Which ones should I get graded? I want to have 2, and only 2 comic books graded by cgc within the next few weeks. Check out my collection and let me know what you think. The grade on these comics are guesses so I am not a true grader Some of the choices are: Simpsons comics number 150( 9.6-9.8) Plastic Man issue 1 from 1966 (4.5-5.0) wolverine unlimited series issue 1 (9.4-9.8) FCBD Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles #1(9.8) Ultimate Spiderman issue 125(9.4-9.6) Man Thing issue 1 (6.5-7

Detective Comics..

.. So I am closing on my first year building my 800 issue run of Detective Comics. Within the first year I have managed to buy 100 CGC graded books (a bunch were hand picked and submitted), and the more I build this run the more I love it! I like to browse through other sets as well, and I am working on starting to upload images.

Finally got the grade

Got the grade So after a month and a half, my comics finally got graded. Here are the grades. Uncanny X-Men 213- 9.6 Ultimate Spider-Man 4- 9.6 Ultimate Spider-Man 5- 9.6 Ultimate Spider-Man 10- 9.8 Ultimate Spider-Man 112 white cover- 9.6 Wolverine v3 55 B&W- 9.8 Ultimate Spider-Man 13- 9.6 Im a little disapointed in my ultimate spiderman issues, although I thought # would get a lower grade than it did. And I didn't send ultimate spider-man 13, I sent ultimate xmen 13 in.

A Sensory Experience

Thoughts and reflections on reading a personal grail for the first time. This morning was the day. Ever since my All-Star 8 arrived in the mail on Thursday I had reserved Saturday morning to sit and read through it. I had read the DC Archive column that had the reprint of the issue before but I just had to sit down and read the story from the actual comic itself. What I wasn't prepared for was the actual experience that would take place. Reading the reprint was good but somehow reading the

New to CGC!!

Just got back my 1st CGC graded comics after a long wait. I am fairly content on what they graded them at. For these were my test copies. All and all, I would say they are some good grades, expect for wanting at least some 8.0's. O well have 13 more books to go. Does anybody know a good online CGC book price guide to find the true vaules of my books. If so please feel free to email at buckmsw@gmail.com. Thanks, New and happy member Green Lantern 25 12/63 D.C. Comics Universal 7.5

Chapter II: Review of the Literature--History of Comic Books--

This journal entry is a conclusion to complete Chapter II of my master's thesis which i began in my journal entry last week.   Enjoy!!!History of Comic BooksComics are a vehicle for traveling into the American past. During the 1940's super hero comic books focused largely on WWII as the major theme of their stories. During the 1950's, super hero comic books changed their theme and for the most part they focused primarily on crime and twarting the communist regime. In the 1960's and 1970's,

the wait continues

The wait continues Ok my submission has been on the received status for over three weeks. This is so agonizing. Does that mean that it's still waiting to get graded or do they just suck at updating stuff online?

Change My Collecting Habits ( a little)

From single to sets Hello, Since I joined I've been sending in all kinds of variants to be graded, sketch, negative & foil, 1 in 50, 1 in 100 etc. If it has a different cover, by a certain artist I would buy it. There are only a few CGC graded books I own, that will be able to complete a set, Project Superpowers is one. Now for Example Battlestar Galactica :Season Zero #1 negative graded 9.8, I own it, but that's the only Season Zero I got. Single issues are not any good if there's not an
