Supergirl Complete

100% Well, I finally did it. All the patient waiting. I got the last of the Supergirl that I needed to make 100%. All CGC 9.8. Now if I can just get them to include the variants as part of the set as I have seen in some other sets.

Having the highest graded comic

I recently updated my Lady Death registry set with it! It's still not listed on the census! Alright, I know, I the new guy on the block. But, regardless, you have to admit that when you have THE highest graded comic, it's a rush. In this case, it's the Lady Death 1/2 red velvet. Now I'll admit, there arn't too many graded (like 8 or something like that) but there may be a person or 12 that will see that, and think their's may grade so high, just to try and beat it. I had no idea what to

The Search Is Unending

Seeking those elusive comics for my set I am in dire need of gradeable copies of particular issues from the current Captain America series. These tough to find in high grade issues are: #8 (variant), #9, #13 and #21. As the series became increasingly popular, back issues became even more scarce than they were before, making gradeable copies much much harder to find! I've been all over the city of Toronto looking for the copies that I need with no success so far. What makes it even toughe

I feel better....much better

My first submission turned out very good. I'M VERY HAPPY WITH IT! There were a few that I kinda sweated sending in, but over all it was a very good turnout! Overall, there were (6) 9.8 (2) 9.6 (1) 9.4 and (1) 8.5. The 8.5 was my superman died gravestone #500 something or rather. I took it out of the bag, slipped it into a board, and sent it off. You'll see that one on E-bay soon enough. There were 2 Lady Death lingerie leather editions that graded out as 9.8 qualified, cause there was abo

Anticipation is KILLING me!

My first 10 submissions to be shipped out next week sometime Well, the time is nearing, but not quick enough. I have called twice already, and one time they called me (but I still asked) on the status of my first order and if grades were available. Of course, they were running behind with all the conventions and such, but I kept getting reassured that they are almost caught up. When it comes to submissions, I'm worse than a kid at Christmas. I do have to say, I really like being able

New addition?

Another high grade copy that I do not have? Just recently found a copy of issue #39 cgc'd a 9.4 w-cream to off white pages. The page quality isn't really what I prefer but I might not find another, I've got to have it! The book is being sold by Metropolis Comics. I didn't have the $200.00 required to immediatly make the book mine so I asked them if they would let me pay in payments. Luckily for me, They said that it would be OK, plus they give me a break on the price. I must have died and g

Merry Early Christmas!

...for me, that is... WELL! My big old 44th birthday has brought me some good things! My dear wife knows how much I like the casinos (and how the casinos love me is more like it) but she allowed me to go to the Hard Rock Casino here in Tampa FL on my birthday, which was the 24th of this month. I go there with all good intentions of spending $100.00. Now, I don't play cards with humans because I am a sore loser, and I have realized that if I lose to you, I will nag you for dinner till I get

UPC AND WHITMAN VARIANTS

WHAT IN THE WORLD OF MARVEL WHILE I WAS TYPING MY LAST JOURNAL I WAS BROWSING MY COMICS I REALIZED I HAVE TO TYPES OF AMAZING SPIDERMAN COVERS AROUND #200 SERIES AND #300 SERIES. I SAW SPIDERMAN HEADS WERE REPLACED BY UPC. IN TODD MCFARLANE'S ERA, HE HAS SKETCHES IN THE UPC AND HAVE SAME EXACT ONES WITH UPC. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW THAT I ALSO HAVE WHITMAN AND NON-WHITMAN COVERS. DOES THIS MEAN ANYTHING? IF I CGC BOTH UPC AND SPIDEY HEAD UPC WILL THEY COME UP THE SAME OR CONSIDERED A VARIANT.

Maybe I'm collecting the wrong comic books

Lady Death (1994-1995) There are 5 people tied for 4th place which is interesting since all of them don't have a single comic book entered. I'm at #2 and that's entering 3 comics. I actually got second place when I put in my first comic that was graded 9.9. I never really got too involved with the registry stuff until I started making my "ultimate" 1971 proof coin set. First place is out of the question since you need a 1971 proof Ultra Cameo Eisenhower dollar graded at 70, and there a

30/35 cent variants

Today I start A Very Long Journey Today is the day that I made my first 2 entries of 30 cent variant comics. This should prove to be a very long and drawn out journey that will probably be completed just before I finish collecting all together. It has always been hard tyo find these comics and I am going to try and put together a complete list of highest or second highest comics before I am done. If the civil war Signature series I have started ( which is going great by the way) is any indi

9.9 New Teen Titans Number 1

OK, confess, where is it? I noticed the other day on the census that there is one CGC 9.9 certified copy of the first issue (#1) of the 1980 New Teen Titans series. So the question is, "who's got it?". I would love to hear from the owner, or someone who knows who that is. I suspect that copy is not happy where it is. It needs a new home on the registry, and I would be happy to become its foster parent. the comic guru

Then and Now

My love of comics began with the Silver Surfer. I've been collecting comics for 20 years. I got started when a friend of mine gave me half a dozen Silver Surfer books because he and I liked to surf together. I've been hooked ever since, and the Silver Surfer remains my favorite character of all time. I also enjoy Amazing Spider-man, Uncanny X-men and Wolverine. CGC is a new passion I've developed over the last couple of years. It's the perfect way to preserve, assess the value of, and admire m

New guy on the block

...and very limited on comic knowledge! Well, first off, I have a problem, and I know that the first step is recognizing that I do have a problem. My problem is collecting. Name it, I collected it. Bottles, matchbooks, prints, stamps, currency (I wish I could keep that, but use it for other collecting) coins, hot sauces (Blair's, check it out) newspapers...the list goes on. Well, now on the list is comics. I'm scared for myself. It all started back in 1994, after I had returned from 8

OK, So I still like bidding

I'm still bidding on ebay and even Heritage. I know that I said I wasn't going to be buying anything but it's not my fault I can't stop. Everyone keeps putting up such cool stuff. Anyway, I hope to be doing the same soon. I joined up with the paid membership today and will summit a few comics in the hopes of trying to make my hobby pay for itself. Not sure what I'll be selling. I don't plan on selling alot either. Just trying to make a few extra dollars to redirect into buying more signatu
