The Crimebusters #120 update - font choice and finished artwork!

In the latest entry of my production blog on the first issue of The Crimebusters, which is my continuation of Chuck Chandler's adventures from Boy Comics, I discuss font choices, and I also give a preview of the first finished page! I have the linework and dialogue complete for all 30 pages, so now I'm just inking and shading the book, and it will be done! https://crimebustercomics.com/2019/03/17/font-madness-plus-a-project-update/   here's a look at the completed first page!

C2E2

March 10 2019   With C2E2 two weeks away and as of right now I am planning on dropping some books off to get graded and I am still trying to decide how many books I would like to get graded and what books to get graded. Maybe I would say that I would want all of them graded but I must pick and choose which ones I would prefer over others. Do i choose items that are going to go up in value over time due to movies/tv shows, do I choose ones that I like just because of the cover, or do I

WW 200 For Under $200

Won this yesterday in the Comic Link auction. A good dollar/points ratio as this book is worth 450 on the registry. A nice cover by Jeff Jones, though his 199 cover is much better. That one I've submitted to be slabbed, should come back a very high grade. Enjoy.

The Breaking of the Bat - The 9.8 SS Knightfall set!

This was, in my comic collecting life, the very last "multi-part series within a series" in Batman that I ever bought new. Comics had gone up to $1.25, and it was getting very spendy (hey...it was 1993!) I had gotten a bit burned out with comics after Death of Superman several months sooner, and I was wondering if I should keep buying new stuff. I actually missed the first few parts, so I had to get #488-494? #495? as "back" (still on the shelves) issues, but I got back on the train with #4

The 9.8 SS Image Portacio Puzzle Complete!

Again, a little backstory: while these aren't the very first multi-cover panels pieces to exist (that honor would go to Unity 2 years prior), this is the first VARIANT set produced. At the time, as some may know, Image was incredibly late with everything. It had become so bad, the distributors forced Image to make their product returnable...unheard of in the Direct market! So, yeah, it took a while for this set to come out. The first two were Deathblow #5 and Kindred #3. At the time, K

The Walking Dead by Image - Issue #100

Following my journal opener which covered The Walking Dead #1, this entry covers the issue with the second-most variant covers (20) in this series - #100. The Walking Dead (TWD) issue #100 (July 2012) shipped with a total of 20 variant covers and had a total order of 379,000 copies. This made it the largest selling single comic of the 2010s decade, the #2 highest ordered comic of the 21st Century so far, and the #1 comic of the century for Image Comics. A special chromium wrap-around cover

The Crimebusters #120 update: Asking for Trouble part 3

I've been having a lot of health issues recently, which has slowed me down some. But I am still plugging away - just finished the linework for page 24, and am beginning the linework for page 25 (out of 30). My goal at this point is to have all the linework done, as well as all the (first draft) dialogue and word balloons done, by the end of the month. I am still aiming to have the whole thing complete for a May 1st kickstarter launch, but we will see.  Here's the latest blog entry: htt

The postman always rings twice and forges once?

I wanted to mention something and get your opinion on it. Recently I purchased a CGC Fantastic Four 2 from a trusted seller. I thought I would get this book while I could still afford to buy it. It's a nice looking 3.5 off white to white paged copy.  I asked the seller to send FedEx with adult signature confirmation. Basically an adult 21 and over has to sign for it.  The seller did as I asked and I expected myself or my wife to be home to sign for it. The day it was due my wife had to leav

How Did This Book Become So Hot?

I've always liked the cover of this particular issue of Sub-Mariner. So when it turned up for auction on ebay a week ago, I decide to go for it. I put in a bid earlier today for $265, the auction ending at 9:30pm est. I figured the book was worth no more than that amount, my bid being the 23rd. Well, when it was all over, there had been 36 bids and the winning amount was...……$676.66!?!?! It happens to be a pedigree copy, but still. Is Tiger Shark going to appear in a movie or something? The last

Sad day on Jan 4th 2019 ...

On this day ... January the Fourth 2019, the Comicshop had finally went closed forever. After bit over 44 years in business since the first store opened in the 1970s, moved to its second location on 2089 West 4th Ave until 1999. Then went to move to its third location on 3518 West 4th Ave. I went to pay my last visit on the last Saturday of December to get my last order. Walked around the store knowing this was my last time to see the classic yellow walls and wall racks. The credits goes to

Back To Buying

Well, here's the first purchase for 2019. Just got this on ebay, where my best offer was accepted. One of the more difficult WWs to find in high grade. Happy New Year!
