Nice Haul Of Adams Books By Years End
Picked up some more difficult books with Neal adams art. They are The Adventures Of Jerry Lewis 104, 9.6 (Savannah), Adventures Of Bob Hope 107, 9.4 and 109, 9.2, Batman 217, 9.0, Challengers Of The Unknown 72, 9.8 and 74, 9.6 (Rocky Mountain) and Tomahawk 118, 9.6 (Savannah). Happy Holidays everybody!

Just won this in the Comic Link auction. My first 9.6 DC acquisition in quite some time. Neal Adams sharing artwork duties with Nick Cardy. Five more Adams books to go.
The Stats For All To See
Re: Detective Comics 411. Thanks to those of you who replied to my last journal. Talia's popularity has definitely increased as of late. In the Comiclink auction that featured the 9.8 copy, there was also a 9.0 that went for $761. By contrast, in a Comic Connect auction two years ago, a 9.4 went for $580! And just a few hours ago in an ebay auction, an 8.5 went for $357. Not too uncommon to find this book in 9.4 or lower. I believe there are less than 10 9.6s and only
First Appearance With An Adams Cover
The recent ComicLink auction saw Detective Comics 411, CGC 9.8, go for $8000! The debut of Talia al Ghul, one month before Batman 232. I for one, did not know this book had become so hot. Must have something to do with the fact that Talia is the mother of Batman's son. I guess the best grade I could hope to afford is an 8.5 - probably about $400. Must be nice to be able to afford this one!

Just picked this one up now on eBay. One of the better covers by Neal Adams on this title. And a great orange background too, which I mentioned in my last journal when describing Action Comics 367. Enjoy.
Another book with Neal Adams cover work that I picked up on ebay today. Issue 233 is regarded as the classic Superman Adams cover, but I like this one just as well. And a beautiful looking 9.4 at that. Enjoy.
A pickup from Heritage auctions the other day. A rather dramatic one by Neal Adams, probably the best of his Superboy covers. Of course, you know what's on the cover does not happen in the story. Unless it's one of DC's "imaginary tales". Oh well, whatever it takes to make the sale. Enjoy.
Picked up this one today from my LCS. Continuing with my acquisition of Marvel books. Nice cover on this one with a story that features the wedding of Namor and Dorma....apparently. Wrightson is credited with artwork here, I believe he did the inking job. Enjoy.
Won this in an eBay auction the other day. Yet another book I've re-acquired after selling it. The next to last issue of this title featuring the incredible run of Neal Adams Deadman stories. As always, enjoy!
Provocative Cover By Adams
Picked this one up recently on Comiclink. A cool, sexy cover by Neal Adams on this obscure title. Just how obscure? Well, the registry does not even allocate points to these books. I think this was a stab at adult themed stories outside the jurisdiction of the comics code authority, like the Warren magazines. Enjoy.

Provocative Cover By Adams
Picked this one up on Comiclink recently. A nice, sexy cover by Neal Adams on this obscure title. Just how obscure? Well, the CGC registry does not allocate any points to these books. From the mid seventies, I think this was a stab at adult themed stories outside the jurisdiction of the comics code authority, like the Warren magazines. Enjoy.

Early DC Work By Adams
My latest Comic Link auction win. An upgrade from the 9.2 copy that I sold last year. The Spectres are somewhat under appreciated issues done by Neal Adams in 1968. No doubt overshadowed by his Deadman stories in Strange Adventures at that time. They are quite affordable in ultra high grade too, as evidenced by the dirt cheap price I won this book for. Enjoy.

Don't Have it Just Yet
At the moment I'm bidding on the Adventures Of Bob Hope 106, 1967, CGC 4.0, signature series signed by Neal Adams. These Bob Hope issues done by Adams are probably the most difficult books to find of all the work he did back in his heyday. This is the only one for this issue on the census, which tells you how hard it is to find in high grade. I won't even add it to my registry set if I win it due to the low grade.

Bid for this book last night in the Comic Connect auction, which featured Conans 1-24, all in pristine 9.4 grade with white pages. Alas, I was outbid at the end. A beautiful cover by Barry Windsor-Smith, my favorite of his from the Marvel picture frame era. Being a CVA copy, the winning bid was quite high for this grade - $361.
Well, better luck next time. There are a couple of slabbed 9.6s coming up for auction at Heritage, so I'll a have go with one of those.
Nice Showcase Cover By Neal Adams
Deciding whether or not to bid for this book in the current Comic Link auction. With two days to go, the bid now stands at $375. I don't know why, but this book has become quite hot lately. Is the Phantom Stranger going to be appearing in an upcoming movie? Perhaps. Well, something is up with this issue. Enjoy.

Picked this one up on eBay the other day as I continue my search for DC romance books.
Described as an 8.0, I plan to submit this for slabbing. There is only one of these on the CGC census (9.4), which shows just how tough it is to find in a decent grade. But then again, any DC books in this genre are tough to find.
Something of note here though. Neal Adams was involved with this issue. No interior or cover art work. Instead, Neal did the coloring in this book. Weird, huh?
Just won this on eBay. The last Deadman story in this title. This has always been my favorite Neal Adams run. Awesome covers and stories to boot. Enjoy.
Back to the journals after a winter hiatus, with this win in a Comic Connect auction. Actually, an upgrade. Had this one in 9.4 already, but qualified (detached staple). So now I have a universal copy. Enjoy.
For Me, He was THE Hulk Artist
Sad to hear the news about Herb Trimpe's passing. As a kid collecting comics in the 1970s, the Hulk was one of my favorite titles. I had just about every issue from 117 to 181, bought either as back issues or fresh off the spinner rack. (Too bad I didn't hold onto 181!) Presented here is issue 168, the first appearance of the Harpy and one of my favorite covers. What is notable about this issue is that it contains panels of a nude Betty Ross(albeit with her priva
Another Awesome Sale Of Action 1
Looks like it's up...up and away with the value of this book. Action 1, CGC 5.5, won at Heritage auctions yesterday for $956,000! One shudders to think what a 9.2 would sell for if one should ever turn up on the market. Never let it be said that the vintage comic book industry is dying. Not as long as those rich collectors are out there, anyways. Enjoy.

Won this in the recent Comic Link auction. I've had to sell several books due to the pandemic, which resulted in the loss of my job. Now I've re-acquired this one. Features an early appearance of the Collector.
Won this in the current Comic Link auction. With this book, I now have all four issues with Neal Adams interior art on this title. Surprised to find my winning bid was well under $100. It's back to buying comics again after taking a break during the summer. And this is a good one to start with.
