Man-Bat!

Just won this in the current Heritage auction. A classic cover by Adams introducing one of Batman's most fearsome enemies. No doubt the most valuable Detective issue with Neal's interior work. Ten more Adams books to go. enjoy.

Make Mine Marvel!

Just bought this one on ebay. One of about half a dozen Marvel books that I plan to purchase over the summer. An alternative to my Neal Adams countdown, so to speak. Enjoy.

Aquaman 51

Just bought this one on ebay, the last of the three Aquaman issues I needed with Adams art on Deadman backup stories. I've decided to do something similar to what Krydel14 is doing with his $25,000 challenge. But on a much smaller scale. Counting down the Neal Adams books I need that have his interior artwork dated from 1967 to 1974, there are only eleven more books left that I do not have, either raw or slabbed. The remaining issues I intend to buy CGC copies, and will provide a journal for eac

Eerie 77

Picked this one up from Pedigree Comics. A nice cover and story - Within You... Without You. There are still several Warren magazines that I'm looking for, notably some with Frazetta covers that are very hard to find - Creepy 16, Eerie 7 and 81. Well, sooner or later they should turn up on the market. Enjoy.

Green Lantern 89

A nice acquisition from ebay. This issue brought an end to the legendary run by Neal Adams regarding social comment that began with GL/GA 76. I'm trying now to pick up the other issues I need in this set. Have to do some serious saving if I want to buy a 9.0 or higher grade 76 one day. Actually, the stories continued briefly as back ups in Flash 217-219. Alas, then it would end for good. Enjoy.

What Is...The Power?

Bought this one from Worldwide Comics just recently. The first work by Neal Adams at Marvel and likewise collaboration with Roy Thomas. A great cover to kick start his X-Men run, albeit a run too brief. Enjoy.

Deadman Again

Picked this one up from High Grade Comics. I seem to be on a Neal Adams splurge right now. Like the Detective 402 I recently bought, this book is very tough to find due to the ultra dark green cover. Probably the toughest one to find on Neal's run on this title, along with issue 206. Nice to have a pedigree copy too. Would have preferred better page quality, but since this book is so hard to find, I was willing to look the other way. Enjoy.

Deadman Backup Story

My latest pickup, from World Wide Comics. The first of three Deadman backup stories featured in Aquaman. Somewhat overlooked Neal Adams books. This would be the last of his artwork on this character. For a few decades, anyway. Not a bad cover by Nick Cardy. Enjoy.

Detective 402

My other win from the current Comic Link auction.  Of the books done by Adams on his Detective Comics run, this issue has to be the toughest one to find that features his interior artwork. No doubt due to the very dark green cover. Enjoy.

Adams First Batman Title Cover

Just won this in the ongoing Comic Link auction. Finally, a Neal Adams book worth decent registry points - 1500 to be exact. Very early Adams work here on this straightforward cover. As was the inclination with DC during this era, they would feature several back issue covers on their anniversary books. Enjoy.

Yet Another X-Men

Picked this one up one ebay just recently. 720 registry points, more than twice the dollar amount I paid. Awesome point/dollar ratio as usual with these late seventies X-Men. Enjoy.

X-Men 111

Picked up this at my LCS. More registry points, anyways. Don't care for this new journal format. As the saying goes - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Noticed that there were very few journals lately, due to the comments being abolished, although temporarily. Enjoy the image of my first purchase in four months.

Weird War Tales 8

Another Adams Holy Grail To Add Awesome! My first signature acquisition in two years. A very tough book to find slabbed above 9.0, let alone a 9.6. And I bought this at a local convention. Classic Neal Adams cover. Signed, a pedigree copy and the highest graded (no 9.8s, universal or otherwise). Wish I could call this an Oak, but there are two more 9.6 signatures out there. Regardless, this is as good as it gets. Enjoy. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments

Silver Age Phantom Stranger

Nice Showcase Cover By Neal Adams Deciding whether or not to bid for this book in the current Comic Link auction. With two days to go, the bid now stands at $375. I don't know why, but this book has become quite hot lately. Is the Phantom Stranger going to be appearing in an upcoming movie? Perhaps. Well, something is up with this issue. Enjoy. Spectre 2

Early DC Work By Adams My latest Comic Link auction win. An upgrade from the 9.2 copy that I sold last year. The Spectres are somewhat under appreciated issues done by Neal Adams in 1968. No doubt overshadowed by his Deadman stories in Strange Adventures at that time. They are quite affordable in ultra high grade too, as evidenced by the dirt cheap price I won this book for. Enjoy. Rich Man's Hobby?

Another Awesome Sale Of Action 1 Looks like it's up...up and away with the value of this book. Action 1, CGC 5.5, won at Heritage auctions yesterday for $956,000! One shudders to think what a 9.2 would sell for if one should ever turn up on the market. Never let it be said that the vintage comic book industry is dying. Not as long as those rich collectors are out there, anyways. Enjoy. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

Another Nice Auction Win

Magnum Force My second and final win in the current Comic Link auction. As is usually the case with the 1970s X-Men acquisitions, the dollar/registry point ratio is amazing. This one is worth 616 points, about four times the dollar amount of my winning bid. Enjoy. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

High Grade Conan Acquired

Adams Inking Not Noted Won this during the ongoing Comic Link auction. Highest graded, obviously. On the CGC label, Neal Adams is not listed for his inking done on this issue. Don`t ask me why. Maybe due to the fact that Adams only partially inked. Anyways, a nice win nonetheless for the price I won it for. Enjoy. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. One More Auction Win

Conan Windsor-Smith Rules! This is the second book I won in the current Comiclink auction. One of my favorite Barry Windsor-Smith covers and probably the finest of his picture frame covers. A simple layout, for sure, but oh, so eye catching! Pretty to tough to find in CGC above 9.4, no doubt due to all that black on the cover. Got it for a great price too. Enjoy. OAK Acquisition

Oh, What A Feeling! Just won this in the current Comiclink auction. One of the first books Neal Adams did at DC. It also happens to be one of only five go-go check covers with Neal's artwork. Did I mention that it's an OAK? About as hard to find among Adams books as can be. Now the only Adams book I need is 108. Enjoy. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. Talia Recap

The Stats For All To See Re: Detective Comics 411. Thanks to those of you who replied to my last journal. Talia's popularity has definitely increased as of late. In the Comiclink auction that featured the 9.8 copy, there was also a 9.0 that went for $761. By contrast, in a Comic Connect auction two years ago, a 9.4 went for $580! And just a few hours ago in an ebay auction, an 8.5 went for $357. Not too uncommon to find this book in 9.4 or lower. I believe there are less than 10 9.6s and only

Talia Has Become Super Hot

First Appearance With An Adams Cover The recent ComicLink auction saw Detective Comics 411, CGC 9.8, go for $8000! The debut of Talia al Ghul, one month before Batman 232. I for one, did not know this book had become so hot. Must have something to do with the fact that Talia is the mother of Batman's son. I guess the best grade I could hope to afford is an 8.5 - probably about $400. Must be nice to be able to afford this one! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New com

My First Qualified

Adams Does Batman/Enemy Ace Picked this one up one ebay. Kind of hesitant at first, but eventually I gave in. It was listed at a buy it now price for just over $100. A beautiful book, detached top staple notwithstanding. And a pedigree to boot. I figure a 9.4 CGC universal would cost an arm and a leg, so I bit my lip and committed. Plus, this has to be one of the most sought after issues by Neal Adams among his Detective books. Enjoy. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here

X-Men 100

Great Book At A Great Price Picked this one up on ebay New Year's day. Yet another example of fantastic points/dollars ratio. Got it for dirt cheap, the points outweighing the dollars threefold in this case. Not a bad cover either! But then again, most of the covers from this issue up to 120 are awesome. Enjoy. And Happy New Year everyone! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

Frazetta Greatness II

Well.........Sort Of Always liked this cover. I say sort of because the cover was done by Ken Kelly, but (a little known fact) the girls face was drawn by Frank Frazetta, who just so happened to be Kelly`s father-in-law. This is my last acquisition of 2015. And it`s about time I picked up another Warren magazine with a Frazetta (sort of) cover. Enjoy. And Happy Holidays everyone!
