Lois Lane

Neal's Other Romance Books Returning to the journals today after a lengthy absence. Picked this one up on ebay and there is nothing romantic about this catfight cover! Most of the covers for this title depicted some goofy scenario, regardless of who was doing the writing and art. But of the 15 covers done by Neal Adams, there are about four or five that stand out. I plan on picking up a few more. And they are pretty hard to come by slabbed, as you will notice if you check the CGC census. Just

Last Buy For 2017

Picked this one up just now from World Wide Comics. A nice pedigree copy and also an OAK, as this is the only 9.4 slabbed copy. Another lightweight fantasy cover for this title, which was so prevalent with DC at the time. Still, a guilty pleasure nonetheless. This was absolutely my best year for acquisitions. 39 CGC books in all. The breakdown - 19 DC, 16 Marvel, 2 Warren and 2 Amryl. Happy Holidays everyone! Enjoy.

Last Acquisition For 2019

Just won this in the latest Heritage auction. A tough to find book with cover artwork by Neal Adams. I'm now concentrating on books with Adams covers during the period from 1967-71. Surprised to have won this book for under $250. Enjoy.

Lane Again

My Second Adams Lois book Bought this one from fellow registry member dover. A pretty good representation of the early work by Neal Adams on DC covers. At this time, his covers were very much science fiction themed, as opposed to the social commentary that would come later in his work. Now the only Lois Lane book I want is issue 85. Enjoy. Jerry Meets Wonder Woman

My latest win from a Comic Link auction. Very tough book to find in grade, as is evidenced by the CGC census, where there are only eleven slabbed copies showing.  This was during Diana Prince's "mod" phase, so I wonder why she is shown on the cover in warrior gear instead of one of her white jumpsuits. I guess I would actually have to read the story to find about that. Well, as always, enjoy!

jerry lewis 93

My latest acquisition from the recent Comic Link auction. This book being from 1966, it's the oldest 9.8 in my collection. Always nice to have books in 9.8 from this era, which I have very few of. It's also nice when they end up at a lower price than expected at the end of the auction. My winning bid here was under $300. Enjoy.

Jerry Lewis 123

My recent auction win from last month. This puts me in a tie for first place in the Jerry Lewis registry set.

Hulk vs. Glob

Won this in the recent Comic Link auction. The Glob was a character you could call a precursor to the Swamp and Man-Things, I suppose. Don't see this book turn up on the market very often. Had this issue when I was a youngster along with several other Herb Trimpe Hulks from that era. Enjoy.

Won this on ebay today. Nice cover that I've always admired by the late, great Herb Trimpe. Enjoy.

How Did This Book Become So Hot?

I've always liked the cover of this particular issue of Sub-Mariner. So when it turned up for auction on ebay a week ago, I decide to go for it. I put in a bid earlier today for $265, the auction ending at 9:30pm est. I figured the book was worth no more than that amount, my bid being the 23rd. Well, when it was all over, there had been 36 bids and the winning amount was...……$676.66!?!?! It happens to be a pedigree copy, but still. Is Tiger Shark going to appear in a movie or something? Horror From Neal

Just won this in the Comic Link auction. A very nice cover by Adams with interior work by him and Berni Wrightson. Amazingly, a 9.6 in the same auction went for $1,300. More than a grand than I paid for this one. This is an upgrade from the 9.0 I have. Also looking to do the same with my 178 and 179. One of the very few with Neal's work interior-wise on this title, I think there was four or five in all. Enjoy.

Hopelessly Overpriced On Ebay

Some Sellers Need To Wake Up It never ceases to amaze me how some sellers on ebay set prices on their books and are convinced they will sell, no matter how many times they have to list them. Case in point: five CGC issues of the Neal Adams Tomahawks listed the other day graded at 9.4 or 9.6. The prices range from 499.95 to 649.95. This is the third time the seller has listed these books in the last four months. The prices have not changed, nor does he add the best offer option. Needless to say

HOM 193

Just won this in the current Comic Link auction. One of many great covers by Bernie Wrightson on this title. Quite hard to find in the higher grades as well.

HOM 178

Just won this in an auction. An upgrade from the 9.0 I currently have. One of the few House Of Mystery issues with interior art by Neal Adams. And it's always nice to land a pedigree copy. Enjoy.

Hip Diana Prince

Picked this up from World Wide Comics. A few of these books featuring the mortal, powerless Wonder Woman have nice covers that appeal to me, and this is one of them. Missed out on an awesome 9.2 issue 178 two weeks ago in the Comic Link auction, having been outbid at the last second. Also trying to find a high grade copy of 185. Enjoy.

High Grade Conan Acquired

Adams Inking Not Noted Won this during the ongoing Comic Link auction. Highest graded, obviously. On the CGC label, Neal Adams is not listed for his inking done on this issue. Don`t ask me why. Maybe due to the fact that Adams only partially inked. Anyways, a nice win nonetheless for the price I won it for. Enjoy. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. Heart Throbs 120

Intense Adams Cover Finally managed to get this one on ebay. Last time I checked there were only five copies on the CGC census. Actually a combined effort here, with the cover art being credited to Jay Scott Pike along with Adams. Well, it's got Neal's look all over it, so it's good enough for me. Enjoy. Green Lantern 89

A nice acquisition from ebay. This issue brought an end to the legendary run by Neal Adams regarding social comment that began with GL/GA 76. I'm trying now to pick up the other issues I need in this set. Have to do some serious saving if I want to buy a 9.0 or higher grade 76 one day. Actually, the stories continued briefly as back ups in Flash 217-219. Alas, then it would end for good. Enjoy.

Green Lantern 81

Won this in the Comic Link auction last night. The greatest of the Neal Adams runs was GL/GA, and I could not pass up the opportunity to acquire one of these in 9.6. My winning bid was not too high, either. Enjoy.

Going For Marvels Now

Need Some Keys Having accquired just about all the DC stuff I wanted, I'm setting my sights on a few Marvel books now. These include: ASM 121, 122, Silver Surfer 4, 14, Captain America 117, TTA 93 and Avengers 57. If my budget allows, I should have all these books by summer.

GL 82

Picked up this one from a local dealer. Another book that I've reacquired, having sold my copy last year due to the pandemic while trying to avoid falling behind on the bills. From the glorious Neal Adams run on this title. This issue is one of the few that deals with a horror storyline instead of the social commentary that made this run by Adams and O'Neil famous. Enjoy.

Frazetta Greatness V

Won this in the Heritage auction last night. The last of the Warren magazines with Frank Frazetta cover work that I wanted. Probably one of the toughest to find in high grade too. And it also features interior artwork by Neal Adams. Enjoy.

Frazetta Greatness IV

Just won this gem on ebay. An interesting take on the Kong story. Seven of them actually, in this issue. Frazetta at his best, as is usual with his Warren covers. Like my recently purchased Eerie 7, this is another super tough one to find. Enjoy.
