Will this finally be the year?

And the countdown begins. For the past 3 years I have been trying so hard to complete my Marvel vs DC set in the competitive set category and it seemed like an uphill battle all the way. At first I hand picked every copy including the free preview issue and submitted them to CGC for grading waaaay back when. Who will win?

What if these two guys went at it? Waiting for Legends

Will they ever come? A few weeks back I e-mail CGC in regards to adding a new registry set to the mix. I requested CGC to add the D.C LEGENDS 6 issue limited series from 1986-1987. I was very surprised at first to not see it in the registry as a competitive set. What to do? What to do? I was just wondering if the turn around time of any age of books be it via modern, silver or golden age is slower when it is submitted for free at a comic con at the CGC booth rather than mailing it in on your own. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this as well. I'm sure we do get some satisfaction or piece of mind when we submit our books in person knowing that they were in good hands rather than sending them off at our own expense and hoping they get to Fl

The good old days.

The thrill is gone. Testing, Testing, 1-2-3

The comparison begins here. So last night I signed up for my free membership as a collector for CBCS and I must say I enjoyed the simplicity and ease of getting started, infact it was very user friendly which I enjoyed very much. And the winner is? Ok so as you all know from those who have read my previous journals on the speed and accuracy of CGC and CBCS aka (TOC). I had conducted a test of three points 1. Price 2. Turn around time and 3. Look who pulls ahead. So here we are at business day #19. Both my ASM's have been at both graders and to my shock and surprise CGC has actually pulled waaaaay ahead of TOC in grading my book! CGC has already graded my ASM #1 (mile high variant) and is in the next stage which is quality controlwhile TOC still only has it "In Safe". PGX is looking better every second.

Here's another nugget of information. I was just looking through the PGX website and pricing what it would cost to have my books graded and I was very happy with the outcome on behalf of PGX I say thank you for being so reasonable with your costs and not having a membership fee. So as of Dec 31 my footsteps will be heading to PGX along with my hard earned money. On the road to Philly.

I going to meet a childhood hero of mine at Wizard world Philly. After spending a week organizing and debating on what books to be submitted at the show with my CGC coupon, I decided to submit my ASM#'s 135, 136, 149, and 150. Not gonna make it.

The registry awards will have to wait till next year I guess. Well as of today I saw that my Marvel vs. DC #2 & #4 signature series was finally graded! I had these books signed by Stan the man Lee @ NYCC in 2013. They were 9.8 CGC graded and I cracked them out for the sigs and they came back 9.6 and 9.4. I wasn't happy that they dropped from 9.8 so I sent them in to CCS for pressing. On 4/17 CGC posted them as received from CCS. As of today 6/4 they are finally graded! Yeay! Right?

My Last CGC submission.

In light of the the new fees I am done with getting my books graded by CGC. I just sent in 20 moderns and 5 silver age books before the price increase and I must say it was sad knowing that I won't continue sending in my Hulk's in any more to be graded by CGC due to the price increase and $5 bullcrap fee. In my opinion I think at this point I will just either pay PGX for my grading or just look for graded books online. It doesn't make sense for me paying an extra $5 for a three book modern s

It's Finally Back!!!

My ASM#1 is back!!! After my last journal on how dissapointed I was with my submission at NYCC, I'm feeling better knowing that my ASM#1 is back quickly and safely in my hands. I am not really surprised with the grade I predicted a 3.0 or 3.5 and thats what I got a Solid 3.0 with off-white pages. Thanks to all my Journal Pals for worrying for me and your concern. Is it just in the mind?

What if you didn't know? Then what? I'm not gonna peek!

It's on it's way back! Back in October at the NYCC I was debating on giving in my already CGC graded ASM #129 8.5 for pressing. On the last day of the show I decided to go for it, knowing well that the grade may not change but I had faith in CCS and their secret methods of pressing. I'm not Gonna Peek Part II

The Results are in....... So as you know from my previous post that I submitted my ASM #129 CGC graded 8.5 at the 2013 NYCC for pressing and grading.
