Wonder Woman #156

I combed through my Wonder Woman collection and found 6 books that all appeared to be VF/NM 9.0-ish & have confirmed I'm a terrible grader when it comes to older books.  Of the 6, one came back higher & fortunately for me, it is the one book I shelled out the most $ for, Wonder Woman #156.   The other books included #137 (6.0), 161 (4.0) 177 (7.0), 179 (6.5) & 204 (7.5) - I'll have to review the grader notes, especially on #161, as all of these books looked so much better than t

HURRICANE HARVEY COMICS

I thought some of you might be curious about the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and it's effect on comic book collections and since I have one effected I figured I would share some details.  My wife & I had just bought a house, closing and moving in on August 21st, a Monday.  By Friday our new neighbors were preparing to  evacuate the neighborhood and after a few conversations we decided it would be best to do the same.  Mostly out of shock, all our survivalist skills were thrown out the wind

Three 4 Thursday!

Part XX - GOTG Movie Variant Ahhh, the puzzle... Putting a few covers together to make one great big image. Is the whole stronger than the parts? I think so! As I slowly build a complete set of Guardians, I had to take it to the max last night and go above and beyond the self imposed price limit and when it arrives sometime in the next week, I'm sure it will be worth it. I missed a post last Thursday, just completely forgot about it, but I'll blame it on the eggnog. This week features

Part XIX - GOT GOTG?!?!?! Let's just get into the good stuff!!! If I keep this up, I'll probably just start to pummel you with my Guardians of the Galaxy books, over and over again, week after week, simply because... That is the vast majority of my collection now. Oh, how collections change and wander over the years... I have been at this a few years now and of all the titles I've read, of all the characters I've come to love, no one is quite a cool as this team. ...and yes, this is proba

Part XVII - Staying in the Eighties.... This week I swapped out the display comics for some recent acquisitions. New Mutants 1 CGC 9.8, which I found on the boards. I had purchased a copy of this book well over a year ago, only to turn around and sell it... But, when a deal comes along, sometimes it's hard to pass up. And when it was on sale along with Moon Knight 1 CGC 9.8, I just couldn't resist. The Moon Knight is actually signed on the inside by Bill Sienkiewicz. The 3rd book is Marv

Three 4 Thanksgiving Thursday!

Part XVI - 3 Classic First Issues! Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I hope you are enjoying the holidays with family and friends. On this fine November Day I've brought you three classic first issues from three different decades. Each book stirs great fascination with me, both old and new. The first is Y: The Last Man 1 CGC 9.8 (2002) which was recently purchased and happens to be my all time favorite read! Written by Brian K. Vaughan, this was suggested by a new comic friend when I was sta

SoCal Comic Con

Couple of finds... Went to Oceanside for the SoCal Comic Today and found a couple of nice Graphic Novels, couldn't help myself, so they came home with me. There were a few vendors and some really nice books, just not any good deals. Nobody interested in selling anything, I guess?!?!!?!?! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. Part VII - Rough Week at the Office At least it's almost Friday! Man, it's been busy at my desk, but I had a few books to keep me company. This week featured a newly arrived from CGC, 9.6 Age of Ultron Variant 1. (This one should have been a 9.8, dang!) - Great series BTW, and looking forward to a James Spader becoming Ultron! A reunion of sorts for Robert Downey Jr. & James. Bookending this bound to be classic is The Might Avengers 30 & Hulk 19! Lookin' pretty good this week!

Part VI - Winter is coming... ..Well, maybe just fall around here. Gotta love the Game of Thrones reruns on now!!! This week features some leg kicking from Spider-Man, the zombie cover was a recent return from CGC, 9.4, exactly what I thought it would be! A few others in that order went a little sour. Also included is my last white background and a wedding. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

Part IV - Some SS in the Mix! Welcome to my office wall, located in the dining room. Yep, this is the wall I stare at while I try to get most of my work done. I've been swapping out comics on a weekly basis and this week featured Hulk Vs Hercules, a 9.6 signed by Djurdjevic, Brown, Pham, Layton, Calero, Van Lente, and Quesada. I picked this up with the Incredible Hercules, a 9.8, also signed by the gang. Nice eBay finds last month! Centered is good 'ol Captain America 617, a 9.8. Enjoy!

Part II - More Solo covers... Tnerb noted that the white backgrounds really pop in the natural frame. I could agree more, Tnerb, Thanks for noticing! So, with that I decided to stay with the theme and do some more Solo covers.... Though some really nice books have recently made their way into my collection, I'll just have to save them for another Thursday. Here we have another 70 years cover, this one featuring Sub Mariner on the Black Panther issue. This one always confusing me, but oh
