Featuring the 1st appearance of Ronan...

Its that time of year again when I need to curb my comic book spending...mounting debt and holidays approaching and all that. There are a half dozen books I really want to send to CGC, but again because of budget constraints I have to wait...which is fine. Of course this doesnt mean I have to stop collecting comics, I just cant spend as much as I would like. Fortunately Im still able to unearth amazing books from my LCS at a premium discount so not all is lost. Which brings me to the most recent addition I picked up and the title of this journal.

Sifting through Silver Age back issues I found this beauty. I knew the significance of the book when I saw the cover and the condition looked to be VF to me...the price too was insanely low, so I snagged it. I'm not a huge Guardians of the Galaxy fan but I used to love watching Ronan battle the Silver Surfer back when Ron Lim was on that title so I have an affinity for the character.

Now I guess the only question becomes do I eventually get it pressed and graded? I compared it to my Hulk 181 which is an 8.0 and the wear is very similar so Im thinking it has a great chance at that grade. Looking it up on eBay...cause who knows, I might need to sell it someday...the 8.0 graded copies are selling for about 200. The raw copies advertised in the VF range are going for about 75 to 100. Looking at the numbers and adding in applicable fees, the valuation is probably the same between graded and ungraded...either way I would be making like 10 times what I paid for the book which totally rocks. So what is the general consensus on this one...to grade or not to grade?

Til next time...
