I know that CURRENTLY its hard for the government to monitor, but you do know that legally you are required to report and pay taxes on any profit you made from crypto right?  So you had ZERO problem collecting public assistance from the Canadian government, but you couldn't do the bare minimum (and track like what 20 or less transactions) to ensure you are paying your due to the government?  And the fact that you don't know how you put into crypto means YOU NEVER HAD ANY INTENTION OF PAYING ANY TAXES ON THE PROFIT YOU MADE to the Canadian government.

Do better, pay what you owe.  And I have no idea if the marriage is real or virtual, or something else entirely, but please don't have any kids, real or otherwise.

Don't assume what you believe I am or am not thinking. You're 100% wrong about the crypto, about the taxes, and as for kids I don't want them at all, thanks.

Ummm....I just kinda got here but I guess it's ok to give advice or whatever because the journal idea here is that you're making your private life public and for requested input?

Ok, so the idea of learning a trade is the ticket. Find a tradesmen in your area and offer to carry his tools for free to learn. Show up early. If you're not 1/2 hour early, you're late. Do the work no one else wants to do.

If you do this for six months your life will become radically different.

There is no get rich. There is just hard work. Unless you're born into wealth. And it seems you're not.

When you shut your mouth and just do instead of running your mouth, your life will become radically different.

And that means respect. You'll get that now.

And that means money. And you'll get that now.

And that means babes (please do not get the babes pregnant at this time, if ever. Use birth control) and comics.

Trust me. Please.

:preach:

Like I told my dad and others. I don't want trades or to learn one is that clear? I believe in working hard and smarter not just working hard.

Buddy, you aren't married then.  Have you two at least met?

No we aren't officially married that's true. But she refers to me as her husband and I her as my wife. No I haven't met her yet as I need to update my ID and passport.

I know this is a road travelled before, but...Skype'd, anything?  You're potentially setting yourself up for a massive let down if the virtual and real world don't match up (as they often don't).

Who uses Skype anymore? JK :) She offered quite often to speak to me via webcam on discord but I turned her down each time. I want to save the surprise for when it happens. I asked her if I'm allowed to take pics with her and her sister when I visit. She said I can take as many as I like.

Ok, so you admitted you DIDN'T track how much money you put into crypto, BUT YOU ARE SAYING I shouldn't assume its because you had no intention of paying taxes on profits, which means YOU DID PLAN ON PAYING TAXES ON PROFITS, but somehow didn't know you needed to track your starting prices to calculate your profits?

I've said this before. I don't calculate things until I need to. I already asked if I would get a penalty for it and I was told I wouldn't. The only thing I would owe is the money for having my taxes done. I don't actually make enough to owe the government anything, if I did get taxed anything, because I'm a low income earner it would be refunded back to me.

Maybe he's not tracking his purchase price because he feels so bad about all the assistance he's taken from various groups etc. that he's going to pay taxes on the full sale price not just on the profit. I know. I know. It sounds crazy, but anyone who follows the gold thread knows I suffered a pretty significant head injury this afternoon lol

That's not how things work. What assistance from various groups? It's only been social assistance

Why would you feel the need to even ask this question?

He thinks it means she’s real. If she wasn’t she’d say no.

Because it's consent. I wouldn't like it if someone took pics of me without asking.

The government? You mean all the loans and calling me everyday? Yeah, that felt nice. As for my parents I don't owe them money in the way you think.

Actually, I explained to her why I want these pics and it's quite a few reasons but the main ones are to show you guys that they do exist, and are girls and who they say they are.

Yes, but you're asking months in advance of a possible meeting that may occur at some undefined time in the future.  Seems like "hey can we get a photo together?" could have waited until day of (assuming that ever happens).

wouldn't you have to report your income either way (assuming you have generated positive revenue), even if ultimately it was refunded back to you?

If you dispose of capital property in Canada, filing a tax return is required independent of income or loss.  Which would mean you have to report how much it sold for and how much it cost you.  As far as I know (check with your local Canadian chartered accountant), crypto is treated as capital property (there may be some time restrictions resulting in different treatment).

Now I'm not a Canadian Chartered Accountant, if you have one telling you otherwise, feel free to dunk on me.

That's true but I like to cover my bases and ask in advance so I don't take her by surprise. She hates being put on the spot and gets easily flustered.

This is starting to sound like Kate Micucci's character on the Big Bang Theory.

Of course I will need to report all the crypto transactions whether I made a profit or a loss. I'm saying that because I didn't earn very much I'm not going to get a penalty for doing so and I've already asked my case worker and the person who did my crypto taxes last year. They're treated as a commodity similar to stocks

Which is why many of us have suggested taking a much more pragmatic approach to this "relationship".  The virtual sex den and the IM chats are what they are, but if the time ever does come that you two do meet, 72 hours later you may very well find that the two of you can't stand being around each other.  Or you could immediately find there's no attraction between you two.  What then?  All this girlfriend/wife talk that you've spent so much time on just went up in flames.  Where's that going to leave your frame of mind?  And if you think there's no way things could possibly go wrong, you're being naïve.

I've already spoken to Sam about this many times and I've been asking her if I do or say anything she finds annoying or stupid. She said that I don't. I told her that she should also except that things may come up that she doesn't like when I'm visiting her for a week or two. I see her as more than just sex or for her body and she knows this. As for things going wrong, I'm confident they won't go as you say, Sam and I have been working hard on our relationship.

This is all easy to say when you've never met, and you're just sitting behind a keyboard where everything can be rehearsed and thought out.  Life is funny, maybe this fairy tale you've built up will actually work out.  But don't be shocked if reality takes you on a soul crushing roller coaster ride instead.
