Another question: Do you have any Spider-Man #252's? And if so, how many?

I have about 3 raw copies and 1 CGC 9.8.  Then I have a bunch in different languages.

A friend of mine has about 30 raw copies in varying grades.

When I was a kid this woman sold comics at the local dirt mall (Mallrats reference).  She had it priced at $10? $20?  I would buy ASM each month where the first issue I ever bought was #292.  When I asked to see the 252 as I started to go backwards she laughed at me and said "No, because I wouldn't be able to afford it anyway."

Jerk.

Her eyes would spin into the back of her head if she saw some of the purchases and sales I have made over the years.

sounds like she might posses super powers !!

A team-up with her and Arm Fall Off Boy would be cool.  If the bad guys were using Metropolis City Hospital as a front or home base to plot their evil schemes, those two could use their "powers" to go undercover as patients.

So... while working on the yard I had to make a quick lunch this afternoon.

So...

Garlic and Cilantro chicken breast on ciabatta bread with cheddar cheese.

  • Heat your pan on medium-high.
  • Add in some olive oil
  • Mince one clove of garlic and toss it in the pan once the pan is nice and hot.
  • Cook quarter of chicken breast VERY lightly seasoned.
  • Mince two sprigs of cilantro
  • Season with salt, pepper and chili seasoning.
  • As the chicken is mostly cooking toast your halfs of ciabatta bread
  • Add sliced cheddar cheese - didn't have the good stuff so I sliced off pieces from a cabots I had about.

Deliciously paired with a Sam Adams Kosmic Sour

question: when are you getting another AF15?

I don't know...

My friend said it best when she was talking about her diamond ring.  She got married young and the engagement ring was one that they could afford at the young age that they were.   Her husband asked her if she wanted to upgrade or get a newer ring.  Her response was that the more she thought about it, she did not want to walk around with something too expensive and she also looked at things differently.  She looked at the money that would go into the ring and said that she could see new floors building part of the extension that she wanted or something like that.

When I bought the first two AF15's I bought them for what people today would consider VERY cheap.  I bought the 1.8 in 1997-98 and I bought the 3.5 in 2010.  In fact if offered the books again at the price I paid I would buy a few more copies.  When I bought the 6.0 in 2012. I paid a record sum for it as it did not have any marvel chipping.  I did not own a house at the time and I kind of also needed to buy a car as the one I had was a 2001 Mustang that still had not cracked 100,000 miles at the time but it was still 11 years old.   I had to make a decision between buying a car or getting the AF15.

I bought a new car in 2018 and I am glad I did.

Today... I look at buying another copy of a book I already have three of and I cannot justify it.  I could buy another AF15 OR I could pay off a chunk of the mortgage.   IF I were to buy another copy, I would most likely sell off the majority of the art and comics I have which would include most of the slabbed 1-100 run, the golden age books and everything else.  Half would go toward buying another AF15 and the other half would go toward the house.

Dont buy another one.

There are other things I want. There are a few pages of art that are out there that have my interest.  There was an incredible Romita Jr Spider-man page I liked but before I could man up and make an offer someone bought it from Metro.

Lately though I am into less is more.  Sell off more smaller things ... do other things with the money whether that is to put it into the house or buy bigger or better comics.

For the most part, I personally do not care about the artist. I shrug at the artist. When buying a page it has to pop.  I worked with collectables for Disney when I was in college.  I learned that what makes a single page of art great is that the single page should convey a story.   Now, if you are looking at the entirety of the film or in this case the comic then the artist becomes very important.  However, I like to find pages of art that convey a small story on the page.

I've shared these before but these two singular pages convey the character of Spiderman and Superman extremely well on one page.   Both were purchased in the last few years for a few hundred each.  I don't get owning a McFarlane page of Spider-mans rear end while you see the face of a robber he apprehended between his leg gap as he talks down to him... just to say you own a page of McFarlane art... I like pages that tell a story.  To me, comics are character driven and not artist driven since many artists work on a character over the history of the publication.  So... my collecting habits seem to be more character driven as well.

Superman is at his most iconic on this page. Spider-man is defined by his every-man problems to which he laments at while swinging through NYC.   When you think of Indiana Jones, the boulder scene is easily in the top three sequences out of all four films.  Out of a lot of pages I own some are supposedly much more valuable... These are the ones that make  me smile.

I am getting salty on eBay today.  Guy stole my pic to hawk things he may not have.   He has a new account with a "2" feedback.

fine. But you are risking a return for item not as pictured by using my floor and not your own.
