Crom Conan Statue Finished

For my entry in the journals here is my latest project. Conan 1 statue. I got this kit for my birthday a few months ago and recently have been doing some rearranging of my glass display cases so I figured I might as well start building this guy.

A little background. I first saw this statue on an interview with Roy Thomas. I was like oh my I have to have it to display with my book. A little research and I found out it is a resin kit. A little bummed I have to build it but I'm up to the challenge and I'm sure it will be rewarding. My progress so far is I've taken everything out, dry fitted it, and cleaned it. I'm going to stop by in a little bit to pick up some putty for a couple touch up spots and then primer it hopefully after work tonight.

Airbrush failed. Had to resort to painting it by hand. I think it's the testers paint that doesn't work that good, especially with darker colors even though I used a lot of thinner (shrug)

Spent a good amount of the weekend rearranging my garage so I could get a better workspace. Finally utilized a nook in my garage wall with a bookshelf that fit perfectly. Finally my stuff is out of harms way and room to spread out projects.

Slow day at work today. Watched a bunch of you tube videos about dry brushing. Conan's shading turned out pretty good. I tried just doing highlights on the girl but the white paint was kind of sticky. I might have to start using acrylic or something

Almost there. Pieces held together pretty solid with all the added wires and pegs on the feet. I'll probably seal Conan's feet after I do the final paint. I left the brass color for last. That stuff feels like it never dries, so I want to keep handiling to a minimum...... I'm probably going to change the eyes so they aren't looking up

Wow, very nice.(worship)

Thanks dudes! I'm almost done. With any luck I'll have it finish tonight and clear coat it. I'll post some more pics after work.

All finished. Necklace was a pain getting through the holes again. Added the clear coat that is still drying. I'll take some better pics once it dries all the way. Thanks for everyone checking out my journal. It was a cool project and I learned a ton.

Turned out amazing!  Thanks for sharing.  Hopefully this will inspire you to start AND post future projects.

Thank you! New journal and being able to upload pics was pretty cool. I'm going to enter the statue in my county fair in a couple weeks. Fingers crossed I get a ribbon. That will be first time entering something.

Here is Conan on his way to the fair. I was pretty nervous on the drive.

I took the day off of work so my son and I could check out the first day of the fair. I won first place!!!! I'm so happy ^^ There were many other great exhibits. People really get into the model planes and cars.

Got Conan home the other day. Now he is in his resting place. :cloud9: He barely fit on the detolf shelf. I'm really proud to be able to put a blue ribbon next to it.
