  2. Well who knows but I don't have a lot of faith where all the major players have their own auction houses. It's like playing Battleship and your opponent can see all your boats.
  3. Today
  4. There is no doubt that Bob had a lot of facts and stories rattling around his brain about comics, fandom, and their history. And some were really helpful. He and I had a long chat about Dave Wigransky a few years back. It was the only time I ever talked to him. He was pleasant and curious and we shared info. I will not forget his disappointment when I told him Wigransky had talked to Richard Kyle and Ron Graham back in the early 60s. He could not believe he didn’t know and he lamented that their knowledge of Wigransky was lost because no one connected the dots until after they had died. He knew both of them and it was clear he felt the loss of that opportunity. With that I can deeply sympathize.
  5. Occam’s razor also suggests that the most likely possibilities for the sequence of Action 14 adds in the first issue of Superman have now been enumerated. However, in the absence of percentages of issues with each not yet being determined, I’d like to propose an imaginative alternative. Suppose the first run erroneously did say Action 14 was on sale contemporaneously with Sup 1, and the press supervisor noticing that for whatever reason an error had been made said, “Stop the press” The offending red plate is altered reflecting the June 2nd date and the press run then continued. Now you would have two first prints, with one first state (the error) and one corrected second state. I know; highly unlikely.
  6. THIS ^ This is definitely a part of where I am…my focus is buying Batman pages & I have pages from several artists I really like & enjoy, but now I want more 70s & 80s & 90s pages.
  7. Great questions to ask myself when I’m ready to research & buy my next page Thank you for this…
  8. Thanks for your feedback and you are right, it’s a total block. I start getting the fever looking at so many pages I can afford & then I just buy one. i do buy about 4-6 pages a year. So to your point, I save up & buy maybe 2-3 pages a year.
  9. If you are asking if you can submit a graded slab, then yes. You will need to provide a window bag & board, CGC will remove it from the slab for signature, then regrade it (it may not keep the current grade). When you fill out the submission form you can type in the serial number for resubmission.
  10. Who knows. Would guess it’s owned by metro/CC because who would consign a book like that to them with the sorry state they’re in right now? Pure conjecture of course. I’d send it to HA if it was mine.
  11. Where did that scan come from? It looks like they have definitely altered the settings to make the book appear whiter than it actually is.
  12. I think that was a joke someone made. I’ve never used the ‘service’ but it currently says they don’t do it for 9.9s or 10s.
  13. No way this hits a million unless someone gets their bid shilled up. If CGC did announce a 9.9 pre screen service this release is a perfect way to pump that, what a shocker. No way this is owned by someone who is not part of the inner circle either.
  14. Give me my Millie the Model custom label! there are like probably 3 of us...who want it. all kidding aside a multi-use "golden age" custom label would be nice. It could be a collage of public domain characters or one with specific Marvel/Timely/Atlas
  15. This book was truly succesfull so they had to reprint it several times... By luck your not looking about the really recent trends with comics variants
  16. I remember Bob from way back. I'm from the Bay area and had good dealings with him and he was always generous with his time and information. Great guy to talk to about comics. I never had any problems with Bob and liked the guy. Sad to hear of his passing.
  17. I'm gonna wait til I get my hands on From Door to Door to check Orrie Hitt out, but I thought I'd mention that there's 4 of his books up at the IA: https://archive.org/search?query=orrie+hitt
  18. Only one book in today, but I can tell it will prove helpful already.
  19. Way back when, before I bought collectibles insurance, I called my agent and asked if they could insure 80k of comics. They said no problem and the price was reasonable so I bought it. When I got the policy, the fine print said the limit for collectibles was 3k and i think it had a big deductible. I was able to get a full refund, but come on! They are not your friend.
  20. On top of a Phoenix I just remembered that I have a lot of Conan and Red Sonja's. Would die to have a Conan/Sonja label lol. If it's possible to have em both on a label kinda how Xmen labels have multiple characters, that would be sweet. Conan the Barbarian #24 has the perfect shot too 👌 😍
