  2. I love the oddities that ended up in here! A lot of the smaller publisher or straight-up independent works aren't really valuable in the FMV sense. But sometimes they have great writing, or unique artwork, or they just represent the attempts -- sometimes successful, sometimes not -- for people to break into the industry. (...and yeah, okay, sometimes they're just forgettable; not every book's a winner in ANY age). We're not all gonna collect all of that stuff. Hell, even I don't collect most of that stuff, and I collect some pretty deep drek at times. But I sure appreciate the stories that can be told about some of these books. I hope everyone does.
  3. I say this with love, but I can 100% picture this as being what you looked like, no problem! @the blob on the other hand, I dunno, I think we may have to petition to have his name changed. How does The Well Appointed Gentleman of Average Size hit everybody?
  4. Grades sent. If any grades do not match mine, I will assume CGC forgot how to grade.
  5. That book looks a bit dog-eared. You’re being sold a pup there.
  6. I’m not sure about everywhere. I don’t think any of Adams stuff can really be classified as htf unless it’s a rare variant. Lots of DS girl covers used to sell for $5-10. As for selling now I agree the time to sell is when everyone is buying but week after week and month after month the prices continue to sell for even higher. I don’t think there is really a rush to sell. He will forever be an all time classic adorned artist
  7. Rolling on with the Hobgoblin collection! Picked up a new one that wasn't even on my radar, Spider-Man: The Parker Years. This one only has 16 in 9.8 and 22 on the census. Looks good in the slab with the wrap cover too. It's mainly a flashback book that was during the clone madness, but my man is front and center on the cover so it was an easy call. I didn't even realize it was a NS copy until it arrived.
  8. The original book is almost 200 pages, so I'll assume this is just pinups. Thanks, but its not what I thought it was.
  9. Others have brought up a wait of about 2 weeks at the GEI stage. I am really glad this thread exists because it helps with expectations. I don't mind the longer waits if I know they are coming.
  10. I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying the thread! I remember thinking during that period after the nineties crash that it was a good time to be buying new comics as I figured the imploding circulation figures would lead to more scarcity and hopefully higher values for new comics. So while I did pull back on a number of Marvel and DC titles when they killed and restarted their long-running titles, I didn't pull back on my comic spending overall... I just plowed the money into other things. It's one reason why you see so much variety in what I've been posting.
  11. Big props for kicking off the pulps/paperbacks/etc. sales area here Number 6.
  12. @DavidTheDavid is a very astute boardie who knows a good thing when he sees it and he's so easy to deal with that he's always welcome on my threads. Perhaps you could start a competition with him to see which of you can buy more books from me...
  13. Money aside, these books are about as close to irreplaceable as it gets with only a few copies of each.....I don't even know how this stuff goes stolen. Does a customs agent open a box and stuff them in their shirt and then quite for the day? You'd think every package is carefully accounted for? The Hershey factory probably has better inventory management over their 50 cent chocolate bars....
  14. Here's the description from Mycomicshop: In 1983, Marvel Comics published a landmark edition of Frankentsein [see Frankenstein SC (1983 Marvel Illustrated Novel) and Frankenstein HC (2008 Dark Horse)] - exquisitely illustrated by Bernie Wrightson. But (for reasons revealed inside) many of the illustrations Bernie drew for the project were left out. Now those rare, unpublished pieces, breathtaking in design and rich in detail, are gathered together at last - in this special, high-quality collector's edition. Softcover, 8 1/2-in. x 11-in., 48 pages, B&W. NOTE: Limited to 2,000 copies. Cover price $8.95.
  15. I've been upgrading my copy of this one for many years now and they are notoriously tough to find without bad fading, in addition to usually being heavily creased. My current keeper is the best I've seen. The colors are very bold and the red frame that is usually way off centered is well centered here. This one looks to have been well inked because there is some of the red ink at the bottom of the covers as if it got smudged on the plate when it got inked. Has a little wear on the edges but pretty nice. The cover art is by George Mayers.
  16. I sold Ernie some beautiful Tomb of Dracula issues. He is an incredibly pleasant, patient and relaxed boardie to deal with and good to his word. I would do business again with Ernie any day of the week which ends in a 'y'.
  17. Thanks! Glad it's approved, because I've got a new one! 1st Hydro-Man:
  18. I have no idea, but I’d be shocked if they didn’t. Because I don’t think I’m alone in this, but I would be far more likely to attend if CGC was there. and yes CGC was there in 2021. It’s clear they attended because even in 2021 cons were sparse. SDCC didn’t happen. Still they are coming out to Southern California for SDCC a week later. Logistically it wouldn’t be difficult to make this happen. 120 miles away
