  1. Past hour
  2. Sheer blinding brilliance to create this thread! Bravo and thank you!
  3. Looks to me like possibly water damage. From the shard to the edge looks blurred rather than smudged. Could be from a water droplet. What do the grader's notes have to say about this defect?
  4. Agree with @zzutak these are probably not from factory, and thought it was worth elaborating that the way we know is the staples don't all match, you have two distinct pairs. Although stapling errors/extra staples can occur at the factory, the staples will tend to all match. At any rate, it was very nicely done and a nice comic book!
  5. I don't know the answer to "do they prescreen before opening". I'm curious if anyone else knows? Seems unlikely, but if they offered that it might be worth it. Otherwise i would not crack it. CBCS 9.9 and highest graded--take the win!
  6. I'm glad you said that as I thought I was the only one who undergraded it. I went for 7.5 too, but on the basis that I'd call it a 7.0, so CGC would go higher.
  7. Today
  8. Good information that I wasn't previously aware of...
  9. Very cool...thanks so much for sharing!
  10. I'm pretty sure you can not get them cgc witnessed.
  11. I got 3 points on the Showcase 97 because I mistakenly thought those were stains and 2 points on the Superman 75 because I thought there was a 1/4" crease in the bottom right corner FC that I guess wasn't there or that book couldn't be a 9.4. Those mistakes are due to not having the book in hand. Once I saw the notes I actually agree with 4 of the grades, but the biggest surprise to me was the ASM 252. There is about 1/4" tear w 1 1/2" crease along with spine ticks, large scuff all color breaking. In addition, it is just an overall dingy copy for a modern book. That book should never be better than 8.0 and I would personally grade it at 7.5.
  12. interesting thread that i initially read and just now read again...
  13. That looked like an obvious stain on the top back of that Showcase! Not sure I have seen foxing that looks like a discolored spilled splotch like that before. The grading notes saying that was foxing and not a stain would have been extremely helpful and necessary to grade that one.
  14. Thanks! And if anyone else has some nice shirts to post, L.B. or others, please post em.

  17. do you mean "do I have comics?" yes. I have a thread in ga/sa/ba I'm adding to. mostly I just have older stuff
  18. Back in the day you could sleep eight hours and they'd still be on the first frame I used to like Steady Eddie. Selby is in the same mould.
  19. Walt Disney Comics and Stories 98 VG 1948 1st Uncle Scrooge in title $25
  20. The DC house ad that impressed me the most in the spring of 1962 though was this one: Since I've already posted the Atom and Hawkman comics from which the images in the above ad were taken, here's the Aquaman comic: And here's Metal Men 1:
  21. Not a bad round, but I also dinged the Showcase #97 for the foxing on the back cover...dropped it to 9.2 because a book I submitted last year that looked like a 9.6 got dropped to 9.2 because of a small spot of foxing on the front cover. I guess timing is everything!
  22. That JLA and Spotlight are simply gorgeous books, I find the cleaner and presser in me is very tempted by these images, instead of grading I'm thinking about what I can do to improve them!
