  1. Past hour
  2. Some extra fun... Tall, Blonde and Evil, just like I like 'em. Definitely something evil going on with the leg positioning there
  3. I think for the majority of creators it makes sense to go Yellow label, if available. But for big names that charge a graded premium that's greater than the yet-to-be-determined verification fee, or for creators that won't do CGC signatures at public signings (e.g. Todd McFarlane), I could see it making sense. As for creators getting the extra money from a signature up-charge, the pessimist in me wants to say that's not going to be true with any artist that isn't representing themself.
  4. I have a few Rex but only have the first issue scanned, they are tough books to find in the UK.
  5. It's the FINAL (and presumably harder to find) issue of Hitman! Again, I was a big Garth Ennis fan and I'm not totally sure if I stayed with this series the whole way, but it's very possible with this last issue showing up. I actually read it after opening the box just to see how things turned out for "Hitman" Tommy Monaghan... I won't give away the ending, but have to say it was perfect. Farewell Tommy...
  6. For those still interested. I received another inquiry on the website from a customer of HR. I've given him the same advice. Reach out to a lawyer, Police and DOJ. Sent HR the book and money to be worked on in 2019 never heard back from Mike. I've removed the contact info for privacy concerns.
  7. I've always liked MP1 but recently discovered the Captain Marvel family of comics and have been targeting them. For what they are, they are seriously underpriced. As an added bonus, I recently realized that C.C. Beck is one of the best GA artists, though his contemporary at Fawcett, Mac Raboy, gets all the attention. My opinion, Raboy isn't even that good, let alone brilliant, but his covers suck up all the collector dollars, leaving the Becks very affordable.
  8. The next box up is from April 2001... the book on top is actually a pretty nice get... can you guess why? [hint... the cover kind of gives it away]
  9. I was looking at the wrong grade for the CMA price. In 8.5 it's about $400, but more like $2k in 9.0. So just pretend it's an 8.5 for this example.
  10. Agreed on UF4. Though not as popular, Captain Marvel #14 with Kamala's first cameo is also a modern Newsstand that would rank high on my list. Vengeance 1 is on my shortlist too.
  11. It's another "cool" cover - I dunno if the water is cool, but she's getting "cooled off" for sure
  12. The cost of paper products spiked 5-6 years ago and a lot of placed stopped carrying the larger boards as they weren't selling many to begin with and their margins were already poor, I don't think they were selling many at a 50-75% price increase. Gerber has the best price I've found on mylar for artwork. My regular source for boards was bags unlimited but their prices on boards went way up in the last 7-10 years. From about $35 for 25 11x17 acid free boards to $64 for the same amount now. Still they make a very nice quality product and are very reliable.
  13. I don't disagree, though MJ has several sort of cameo situations which dilute 42.
  14. "Well Done" I had no idea the FF annuals are giants, never had one. I love the champagne girlie. I like the Greiner but am not sure I've ever seen a lass wear a cape to the beach before.
  15. Agreed... as I got older, I enjoyed going through the indie section of the Westfield catalog each month moreso than the DC and Marvel, mostly for the reasons you outline. I was very curious to see what new material was on the horizon and eager to try to pick the "hits". There was certainly plenty of drek in that section, and I had way more misses than hits, but every once in a while a jewel would show up. Hopefully I'll be able to post more of those as I open these boxes...
  16. Great idea about a list of holy grails for newsstands --though we should exclude cases where nobody has ever seen a newsstand copy (e.g., Wolverine #74 --I have every issue of the 2003 series from #40 through #90 in newsstand except #74, and I remember 2-3 years ago someone posted that he'd never seen a newsstand copy of #74, so there is a good chance it never came out as a newsstand). Rare + pricey would fit the bill for a holy grain, imho (so, Ultimate Fallout #4 definitely qualifies).
  17. Thank you! Too bad they don't feature pictures of each product. It looks like they have sleeves, but no fullbacks for OA are on their product list.
