Hi, I'm hoping some of you knowledgeable folks can help me ID the printing #s for these Freak Brothers issues from Rip Off Press. There's a bunch of them so sorry if this is a bandwidth hog of a post. I picked up a small indy collection with what I think is a first print Strangers In Paradise #1 Antarctic Press 1993 The indicia says "Strangers In Paradise no. 1, November, 1993 is published bi-monthly by Antarctic Press." followed by blah blah blah and ending with ""Katchoo! Bless You!" Print Run: 3000. Printed by Brenner Printing, San Antonio, Texas" The Strangers In Paradise title on the cover is in pink ink. Apparently there is a later printing with the title in gold ink. Can anyone tell me if that is indeed a first print or not..? Overstreet doesn't go into detail and GCD doesn't list the later printings thanks Dave H

This reminds me of a funny story. My wife didn't much care for my comic collecting when we first got married. One nice summer day we're sitting around watching TV and she picks up one of my Amazing Spiderman books that was out and starts reading it. She gets a few pages into it and a fly or something lands on the open book. "SWAT" she kills the fly by smacking it open handed onto the open comic. I wish I had a picture of the horrified look on my face. "No more comics for you honey" To bring this back on topic, if you collect comics and want to keep them in good condition, keep them out of the hands of spouses and young children unless they know how to treat them dave h

Amen to that, I've made my share of mistakes buying books that I haven't checked out thoroughly. Set a limit of maybe $1-2, anything above that don't be afraid to ask the seller of you can take the book out of the bag and inspect it. If you take a book out be careful of tape or you may end up owning a book you didn't intend to buy that now has tape pull damage on the cover! Some people get bummed out by certain defects more than others. I'm not a strictly Near Mint collector, a lot of the time Fine to Very Fine is cool with me but finding coupons or the Marvel Value Stamps removed from books really turns me off Enjoy your comics, they are lots of fun !!! dave h

This method has worked well for me, alternate the spines so the stack stays level and use plenty of backer boards. I don't know if floor to ceiling is such a great idea, but stacks of 100-200 or so don't seem to be a problem. hth, dave h
