Doctor Strange 46 2nd story p. 1 "A Moment's Peace" Saving the best for last (for 2017), this is an amazing page to arrive in my Doctor Strange collection Something from Michael Golden, from his rare Doctor Strange pages, has been unobtainable for me for many years so I feel very lucky to have such a nice example. In addition with P. Craig Russell as inker, I am ecstatic. Doctor Strange and Clea take a quiet moment's peace.

This strip is from the first adventure of "Sky Masters" when he discovers the danger of "space raptures." I also love the Von Braun space shuttles cruising in orbit. The strips are so big that it won't quit fit on my large flatbed scanner so I will stitch together a better image later.

Some new Doctor Strange pages! Marvel Fanfare 41 p. 16 (Dec 1988)- A rare Dave Gibbons page from the the story written by Walt Simonson, "...Perchance to Dream". Dave both drew and inked this page. Marvel Feature 1 p. 2 (Dec 1971) - This is the earliest adventures of what would become the Defenders. The Defenders must stop Yandroth from destroying the Earth with the Omegatron. From "The Day of the Defenders" story. (Ross Andru and Bill Everett) Doctor Strange 12 p. 9 (new series)- "The Bar with No Name." A nice contemplative page where Doctor Strange works his way through multiple tropical drinks. Note Baby Groot in a pot on the bar and the lovely tiki head. P. Craig Russell is one of my favorite artists but his best work is hard to find for sale. Recently I have added 4 of his best (in my opinion) pieces of art to my collection so I wanted to share them with a larger audience. First off is an unexpected treasure: The "brother" to the 1986 Marvel Press Poster #5 "Scarlet Witch." See Eric DLS's gallery. This monster is 20" x 32" on a larger 22" x 34" art board. P. Craig Russell said about this: "After drawing the Scarlet Witch poster for Marvel in 1986, I pencilled this Silver Surfer drawing in 1987 as another projected poster. I never finished it and it sat in the bottom of a drawer for 26 years. Having finished my Graveyard Book story (and wondering if I’m going to have to step in and draw another one of the stories while waiting to see if one of the artists is going to drop out), I found myself “on hold.” Thought of this drawing and decided to ink it. I also thought that I could just sit down and start inking, but found it needed some reworking, so I’m into day three. It’s 20″x32″ and hangs over the top of my drawing board." I am a big fan of his "rare" work on Doctor Strange and have been able to add the following: This has been one of my collecting goals for a very long time, a page from PCR's Doctor Strange Annual. As he tells it "...in the Spring of '73, purely for my own enjoyment, I began work on a Dr. Strange story." It was reworked and published in 1976 as Doctor Strange Annual #1. This page was recently reproduced in the back of the 2017 collection of PCR's work :Doctor Strange: What is it That Disturbs You Stephen? A beautiful splash by P. Craig Russell in Marvel Premiere 7. This is probably his first work on Dr. Strange. P. Craig Russell was also a very good inker. This is his inking over Carmine Infantino's pencils on Marvel fanfare 8. A particularly good "issue" New Article - 26/5/17) It shows a nice price comparison between artists working on the same character as well as insights into why price points can vary. I also like that you share art with a wide range of prices so beginners get a sense of the "market".

Very sad loss. Here is a nice piece of penciled art from an unpublished project of his: I asked Rich about this: "This is, indeed, one of my pencil pages--it's from a graphic novel I was working on, written by Roy Thomas. Work on the project ceased when my lawsuit against Marvel Comics commenced (a dispute over rights to Deathlok). The lawsuit was settled, but alas the graphic novel was not meant to be."

The cover of Fantastic Four 27! (well almost but still awesome.) I am very excited by the twice-up recreation of the cover of the first Doctor Strange crossover (June 1964) by Chic Stone. This was Chic's (according to some sources) first time inking Jack Kirby on the Fantastic Four. Chic started inking Jack Kirby at Marvel with the interior to Journey Into Mystery # 102 (March, 1964). This 1995 recreation of the cover is painstakingly identical. While the top title, logo, etc. is one single stat the bottom is all Chic. So while the original art from 1964 would be nice, I do have a recreation by (one of the two) artists who worked on it originally. The Mystic Hands of Doctor Strange- "Melancholia" p 4 (2010) Artists: Frank Brunner (Penciller) , Peter Milligan (Writer) The Mystic Hands of Doctor Strange was a B&W anthology of stories. Included was one of the few modern Dr Strange stories drawn by Frank Brunner, "Melancholia." These pencils are wonderful and show his continuing talent.

I know it is an old comment but The Doors of Perception is a classic book about "opening your mind" through the ingestion of mescaline (a hallucinogen).

An extraordinary Doctor Strange art day! Brunner and Mignola. I am a huge Doctor Strange fan and especially fond of Frank Brunner's short but sweet time drawing him. I have wanted a "Crusty Bunkers" page for a while but opportunity had not arrived when I could take advantage of it. So I am very excited about this page since I had been offered it several years ago and had to pass. Marvel Premiere 10 p. 14 (Sept. 1973) The second exciting page is from Triumph and Torment, as drawn by Mike Mignola. I have also longed for a page from this book for quite a while. The opportunity to buy it was really amazing and I have to thank Daniel Moran for letting it go. From Guy Davis in his: Honour Among Punks: The Complete Baker Street Graphic Novel: Guy did a sketch for me of Sam and Lady Goth in the front of my copy. I like how he used his sketch to frame the printed image of Sharon and Susan.
