  1. More pictures from the two comics. The MJI is the same for both copies and it's a G (not a 6). I am certainly not an expert on restoration or adding in centerfolds, but it doesn't seem to have been done. First, more from the non stickered copy:
  2. It looks like a G to me. Or am I looking at the wrong thing?
  3. And while I don't think anyone has accused me of any manipulation, I can say for certain that I didn't do anything with the comics. I cannot, however, say that the previous owner/owners did not. I will take more pictures when I get home, and then let the bidding begin on the second copy. Mwahahahahahahahaha!
  4. I'll take a picture of the 75 cent sticker. It did not look professional in the least.
  5. I pulled this copy (and the second copy) from 4 long boxes I bought a week ago. There were a few later issues of Daredevil that also had MJ inserts, though they were the regular price (as they were past the period where there was US/Canadian price differences). I can certainly take more pictures of these comics, though I don't think that there was any nefarious manipulation happening.
  6. There was another copy, too! Same issue, same condition, just someone put a 75 cent sticker over the 95 cents. (It could probably be removed by someone with talent.)
  7. Ha! Send me a PM if you really want it. It's just in Fine condition, but I have never seen one before.
  8. Here's the book. I'm thinking this one is going to go into my... wait for it... $3 box instead.
  9. I was just bagging some dollar comics tonight when I came upon a Canadian price variant (95 cent) of Daredevil #231 with a Mark Jewelers insert. I did some Googlin' and I couldn't find anything on them. Are there any Mark Jewelers experts that can help?
  10. I think promoters at all levels need to start looking at the convention scene as a whole to see what's happening. I live in Philly, and the number of shows within 2 hours of me is astounding. They range from small VFW-style marketplaces to the big multi-day extravaganzas, but I could go to (or set up at) a show every weekend if I wanted. Now population density is crazy here -- check out this map to see -- so the area can support it mostly, but I've seen that sales and attendance have gone down because of frequency. And while it's not the end of the world when you have a crummy sales day when your cost is $60 for an 8-foot table, it is when the booth is going into the hundreds and thousands of dollars. Also, this show has no website (just a Facebook page), no information on parking, no times for when it's open, no information on dealer tables... It's sort of a cluster@#$#.
  11. This was a tough weekend for any show -- especially a big one. You're competing with post-Thanksgiving shopping, travel, and fatigue, along with all the other shows that are happening.
  12. I'll be there! There's a WaWa like 50 feet from the place. You can get a shorti and buy some comics all in the same afternoon.
  13. Sure. Last year, his rate was probably $50k or more. So $10k in 1981 wasn't that nuts.
  14. I have never used them myself, but I've gotten comics shipped in them, and I've never had a problem.
  15. You should probably order directly from Gemini -- you'll save money. (For 200 on their site, it's $89.95; a $10 discount.) https://www.geminicomicsupply.com
  16. I could see that. That may have been a flat fee for his time, travel, hotel, etc. If he's flying to Colorado, staying over at a nice place, eating out, it's not insane to ask for that much. Remember, stars now get a minimum for appearance at a con. If they don't make that up in signature fees, the con organizer has to buy up the remaining amount (usually getting thousands of dollars worth of signatures).
  17. I don't know how much Stan had to do with the initial creation of most of the great Marvel characters of the Silver Age. Kirby or Heck or Colon or Ditko or whomever probably came up with a look and a name and maybe even a backstory. But Lee gave them that voice that made readers immediately connect with them. He will be missed.
  18. This is the third of their shows, with South Florida and Orange County California happening earlier. I think that if you hear how those two go, you can probably figure out how Chicago is going to end up.
  19. I'll be heading there as a buyer, but I'm not going to set up.
  20. Well, many people came and told me that I had the best set-up in the room. The thing is, I don't have that great of stuff. I mean, I focus on Bronze and Copper, so there's no AF #15 on my wall. And if I have the best set-up in the room, then you know it's not a great show. I'm not doing Allentown. They announced it three or four weeks ago, and I (and most every dealer) already has their dates filled. It also being the weekend before Thanksgiving makes it a tough one. I'm not willing to set up for two days to have nobody show, because as bad as Gap Con was (and it was bad), it was just one day. This one is 10-7 on Saturday and 10-5 on Sunday. That's just brutal.
  21. I actually didn't do that bad all things considered. There were only 5 comic dealers there. There was the one guy with just 50 cent books (and I wish I had more time to buy stuff from him, as he had decent stuff if you searched), one guy who had a ton of books but they looked like they were bagged in 1994, another guy with decent stuff but a little high priced for this type of show, and the guy next to me who was just doing his second show and also had things priced really high (but he's just learning). But I hustled and handed out business cards and talked comics (which I love to do).
