Who was the lucky person that won this copy for $90? I have seen raw and cgc copies in lower grades on EBay sell for more than that. I should have bought it if I knew about it on that auction.

Don't worry we will see it flipped on ebay or comic link for a higher amount. I doubt a variant collector bought both of them for their collection. It is some one who does not know what they are doing like that guy who keeps relisting that Iron Fist #14 5.5 with the low page quality and eye appeal. Oh, I bet it is a variant collector, and one that is good at mining variants. Most likely, if they are on here, they would be waiting until they had both copies firmly in their grasp before talking about it. If anything was going to be flipped, it would probably be the first and lower grade copy to help offset the price on the nicer book. The person is probably ecstatic to have not only secured a copy, but to have been able to upgrade it within two days. I hope so but we will see.

more rare than its 25 cent counterpart, but as far as variants go, it is on the low to average side of difficulty. Chip, Usually if you see more then 1 or 2 of a 30 or 35 cent variant its not a difficult one. If I remember right here is the genre breakdown. Dicuss if you think the order needs adjusted. I think others can talk more about War,Toon,Horror, and Reprints order then I can. I am stuck always finding Super Hero 80% of the time. Hardest to Easiest Categories 1.) Western 2.) Toon 3.) War (2 & 3 I could go either way.) 4.) Horror 5.) Reprints 6.) Super Hero Chip, I would like to also add that with these 30 and 35 cent books that Harder to Find don't mean $1000+ price tags. Like with regular copies of any book, demand makes the price and not any guide or whatever crazy formula these sellers on ebay use. People collect and buy more Spider-Man books then Kid Colt.

Could that be the same thing with the IF 14 now popping up? That is too big of news in our collecting to hide.

I would add the other #1's - all seem as important as John Carter Tarzan #1 Scooby-Doo #1 Flintstones #1 Eternals #1 Human Fly #1 Godzilla #1 also X-men 107 - "first full star jammers" Thor #250 IF #15 IF#15 That book took me forever to find. I found more low grade #14s on the way before I got a tip that someone was selling a #15 copy a few states over. The best part of collecting these books are the hunt.

There was no way I would ever come close to a full set of these, but I did like the idea of collecting them, so I went after price variants of titles I liked. I had a handful of 30¢ variants of Thor 250, Cap 200, Marvel Feature 4, Marvel Spotlight 28 and all the Warlock (12-14) 30¢ variants. Recently, I picked up all the Ms. Marvel (6-10) 35¢ variants, so those fit nicely in my run. +1 If you collect a certain title then find the variant. If you like Spider-Man then look for Spider-Man. If you like X-Men then look for X-Men. Now don't look for Sgt. Fury if you don't like Sgt. Fury. People think hard-to-find variant books are key but they are not. Grail to some but never key. You will get bored fast and end up listing your hard-to find variants for sale or auction and taking a loss on the time and money you wasted finding them. That looks like the 4.5 that went missing off the census. I bet the other copy is another cracked slab copy and is the book that sold a few times on the internet. Well now, if it went missing off the census, it somehow got dumped into a store overstock and sold for a dollar. Loren from Warp 9 Comics bought it about three or four minutes before I went through the same box, and handed Roger from Collectors Zone out of Jackson a buck for it. Roger was doing all dollar boxes that day, probably cleaning out a collection he'd bought recently, or old store overstock from his own store. Loren showed it to me a few minutes later, told me what he'd done. He looked it up on his tablet right there and then, found the listing for $4K, and was a bit boggled. Me too. No guarantee I would've spotted it myself, although that bare logo banner DOES stick out. If Roger can give some history on how he got the book then that would help a lot to see if this is a new copy or that same copy.

Only 1 and it wasn't a variant, but a harder to find Acme/Dingo ASM book below. Still a spider book. Tried some new shops there I can tell you about later to check out next time you are in that area. Nice find.
