Silver age comics that are heating up
CrocHntr replied to rabidwolf's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
It's just another one of those movie driven characters that has the speculators in a frenzy (and, I also was only interested in the character prior to his year due to the Watchmen tie). To be fair, early indications are that the upcoming Suicide Squad movie looks to be very promising, and Peacemaker (played by John Cena) seems to be an integral character. So much so, that an HBO Max spin-off series will focus solely on Peacemaker. I think the reason this book (and Fightin' 5 #40 - first appearance) are so lofty is due to the fact that Charlton books were printed on "cheap paper" and don't seem to hold up well over time. So there aren't many of these out there, and to find them in high grades (9.4+) is pretty rare. So I get the quick growth in these books, but it does seem a bit wacky for a character that most people had never heard of until a few months ago. -

TMNT Group Lot - Original Series SOLD/CLOSED
CrocHntr replied to CrocHntr's topic in Copper / Modern Age Only
Thanks so much! -
First the disclaimers: Typical Board rules apply here. I don't sell much on the boards (I mostly like to buy ), but have sold 5 figure books in the past. Also, feel free to check out my 100% feedback on ebay (CrocHntr). First in the thread is the and trumps any PM negotiations. Returns are accepted, but return postage will be on the buyer. Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail in the US and is $10. Payment via PayPal. Now on to the books. I finally got around to cataloging all my comics that I collected as a kid in Collectorz in the past few weeks. I was just a bit late to the TMNT craze, so never got to pick up the first couple of issues, but did manage to snag some good ones. These have all been read, so no nosebleed high grades here, but these are great books for a TMNT fan. I really never caught the TMNT fever, so want to send them on to someone who will appreciate them. Let's do this. Take the entire lot for $40 + $10 Shipping = $50 Total. I’m only selling as a lot, and here are my "grader" notes: Michaelangelo #1: 9.2 - 9.4. One color breaking crease on spine and a very slight corner color loss. Donatello #1: 8.0-8.5. 2 color breaking creases/dents in spine. Slight color loss bottom corner. 2 color breaking folds on right corner. TMNT #2 (3rd Print): Lots of spine ticks. Didn't give this one a grade because I considered it a "freebie". TMNT #7: 8.0. Spine ticks/dents; pressable but some color breaking creasing on spine TMNT #8: 9.0. A few spine ticks/dents. Just a hint of color loss on top left corner. TMNT #9: 9.0 - 9.2. Tough black cover. 4-5 color breaking spine ticks. Otherwise nice.

Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay
CrocHntr replied to fastballspecial's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
I agree. Longshot was a great character, and I remember when the limited series was hot at the time. Too expensive for me as a child with an allowance anyway. Would love to see something new with the character. -
Loved this series as well. I just flipped through mine last week. Nice looking copy!

Looking a bit more lively now. Bid at $130k with over 3 days to go.

Remember the 80s? What was the best MARVEL mini Series?
CrocHntr replied to I am not Glenda's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
As a child of the ‘80s, toys drove my comic selection. So naturally I gravitated towards Transformers, GI Joe, MASK, Masters of the Universe, etc. But my favorite Marvel mini-series was undoubtedly Starriors. It was actually a good read for a toy based comic. -

Rick, that Wow 38 is gorgeous! I forgot that I had a couple copies as well. I don't have a scan of my lower grade one handy, but here's my better copy: -

Oh wow! Love it. . I agree that it’s still missing some of that color pop, but this is much nicer than the b&w original art. Nice! -

This one has been at the top of my want list for years! Beautiful! I also regret not bidding higher when the cover art sold a few years ago on CC. That said, it's the colors that make it so amazing, so even original cover art doesn't do it complete justice. -
PGM Power Pack #1
CrocHntr replied to SellinMyCollection's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
9.2 to 9.4 seems in the range. I'd hope for 9.4, but depends on the grader. -
I was thinking 9.0 - 9.2 range (leaning towards 9.2) due to corners, and the spine indention. Doesn't look like spine breaks color, so could be convinced of a 9.4 at best.

How are we feeling about the new CGC Boards tweaks?
CrocHntr replied to sagii's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
My thoughts exactly. Now I actually have to exit the GA Forum to mark it read. Much simpler when there was a link at the top within the forum you’re viewing. -

Any idea how to “mark the forum read”? Used to be a link at the top of each forum. I can never read all the posts, so always like to mark forum read to know the last time I scanned the boards. I’m not seeing it now...?
