So, since this is my thread, my little universe, and I can do ANYTHING I want (almost), and I'm feeling drunk with power, I hereby decree that any item listed in this thread, prior to and not including the Tec 140 and other slabs listed yesterday, and which has a listed price of $3.50 or more, shall be for at least the rest of the day 10% off. I have so spoken!

So, they have what... six more episodes that haven't streamed? The last episode I saw was the season 4, episode 6.

My Greatest Adventure 80 CGC 9.0 WP $11,500 Origin and 1st appearance of The Doom Patrol Doom Patrol premiered in the June 1963 issue of My Greatest Adventure; X-Men 1 came out just 3 months later and the similarities were striking. Over the years, the creators of Doom Patrol gave a number of interviews in which they stated their opinions that the X-Men were copied from their ideas. Maybe... or just one helluva coincidence. There are, by my count, 74 graded X-Men 1's Universal 9.0 or above and the last one sold in January of this year, according to GPA, for $102K There are 20 Universal graded copies of MGA 9.0 or above; the last sale of any issue 9.0 or above was when I bought this one in 2018. With no recent sales at grade to use for guidance, setting the asking price really came down to what price I'd be willing to part with the book for based on my own personal assessment of its relative value. I think it's at least worth the ask and I believe the reason you don't see this book turn over is because the few current owners aren't willing to sell their books for historical prices, which for some grades are over a decade old. I'm going to test the waters but it's okay if I don't sell it. With four seasons of a successful TV series, a new generation of comics fans have been introduced to the team and it's popularity will grow. In time, I believe it will get the respect it deserves, leading the way for the X-Men to follow with the originality of its characters and premise. As with the Tec 140, the following apply to this book and, in case of conflict with any global thread ground rules, the following takes precedence. Payment must be made by Certified Check mailed within two business days of agreement to purchase. We may, possibly, mutually agree to something different. Shipping costs will be exact and we can mutually agree as to the preferred method of shipping and the amount of insurance will be determined at that time. An in the thread trumps any ongoing PM negotiations and, if we reach an agreement via PM, you should immediately take it in the thread to establish your priority. That will be your responsibility. I would prefer to sell the book outright rather than trade it but I won't completely rule out the possibility of a trade for one or two similar quality books if I like them and it's clear to me that I'm better off after the trade than before. Your books would be received before mine ships. Thanks for looking.

Detective 140 CGG 5.0 OW-W $20,000 Origin and 1st appearance of The Riddler I've owned this book for a few years and, while I've enjoyed looking at it very much, it's time to consider moving it along and maybe getting something new to enjoy for awhile. I still remember the excitement I felt when I sat down in front of the telly to watch the first episode of Adam West's new Batman series in the sixties. (Yep, I'm that old ) For those of you who weren't born when dinosaurs still roamed the planet, the weekly format was a 30-minute broadcast with a cliff-hanger on Wednesday night to be followed by a 30-minute broadcast with the resolution on Thursday night. The premier villian of the week was The Riddler played by the Jim Carrey of my generation, Frank Gershwin. IIRC, the Joker, played by Cesar Romero, didn't appear until the third week of the season. For that reason, the Riddler was always, to me, Batman's number 1 nemesis although The Joker has certainly made a strong case for the top spot the last few decades. And, IMHO, the only books more important in The Batman canon are Tec 27, Tec 38, Tec 168 and Bat 1, in that order. YMMV. I don't believe any type of work was done to this book prior to encapsulation, neither cleaning nor pressing, and it might possibly benefit from such but you can look at the scans and decide for yourself. One of the book's most noticeable attributes, which I've especially enjoyed, is the perfectly placed date stamp on the front cover, giving the book that unmistakeable air of authenticity. It's the only copy I've seen like that so I've always considered my copy to be very special. If I count correctly, there are currently 74 graded blue-label copies at 5.0 or higher out of 182 in the census. So, rare, maybe not like hen's teeth, but certainly difficult to come by and I think only one or two copies change hands each year, if that. I felt very lucky to get mine when I did. The following apply to this book and, in case of conflict with any global thread ground rules, the following takes precedence. Payment must be made by Certified Check mailed within two business days of agreement to purchase. We may, possibly, mutually agree to something different. Shipping costs will be exact and we can mutually agree as to the preferred method of shipping and the amount of insurance will be determined at that time. Your books would be received before mine ships. I'll leave this up for a week or two and, if it hasn't moved by then, I may take it down and try another venue. Thanks for looking!

Time for another updated summary of what's still available. I know this thread is almost as old as I am but there are still quite a few books available which I'd still like to sell so I'll add to this thread as I can. I've tried to make sure this is an accurate summary of what's still available but mistakes happen. More coming soon! Thanks! Nah, I'll cut that three years in half. I thought about getting back to you sooner but, since apparently you and I are the only people left on this thread, I thought I'd better spread it out a bit, make it last. I continue to be amazed at how few of these books there are in high grade (I think there's one more 9.0 since I last looked at the census) and I never see one sell. That must be the very definition of rare. Now that the TV series has come to a premature end, I guess it's time to binge, start over watching from the beginning and watch all the way through. Has anyone watched the entire run?

Thanks, Ernie! (with slight qualification) The PM quote from me to you covered only the original list of 15 books which you messaged me about on Sep 20; issue 54 wasn't included in that original list and I was unaware that you had added it. The board software didn't indicate in any way that you had edited your original PM to add a book so I didn't give it another glance and I worked off of the first list I received to calculate your total. No worries. I have issue 54 and I'm sure it all works out. I will send you an update PM right away. It has been my pleasure messaging with you. Ernie told me that yesterday was Thanksgiving in Canada so I want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian board members! I hope everyone north of the border has much to be thankful for and I am thankful for all of the Canadian board members that I've had the pleasure to meet (virtually, that is ) and get to know.

I've had several transactions with David on the board and they're always the same... top-notch! Great communicator and takes care of business quickly. Moreover, David's got a great enthusiasm for our hobby and he's a super friendly guy so you always look forward to dealing with him.

A funny assortment of random books, the sequel

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (1986) Limited Signed & Numbered Hardcover Edition $750 Signed by Frank Miller and Limited to 4000 copies One-owner book still in its ORIGINAL BOX! Do you have a Legion time bubble hidden in your basement? No? How about Doc Brown's super-charged Delorean parked in your garage? No!?! Well then, this might be as close as you can get to going back in time to late 1986 and buying this book the day it came out like I did. For those of you who weren't around in the mid to late eighties, the two big names in comics were Frank Miller and Alan Moore. There was mega hype around the Dark Knight Returns limited series (as well as Watchmen) and it didn't disappoint. Comics had grown up. So, when it was announced that there would be a limited, signed and numbered, hardcover collection shipping, WITH ONLY ONE COPY ALLOCATED PER STORE, there was mass hysteria and rioting in the streets. Copies were being pre-advertised at $1,000, to be delivered when they came in and some people were paying that for them. Somehow, I managed to finagle a copy. (Think Kobyashi Maru) The day the book shipped, I picked up my copy and rushed home. I had already gotten and read the trade paperback so I only opened the front of my book far enough to verify that it had an autograph and a number, and I then promptly sealed it inside a comic bag and put it back in the original box where it's been ever since except for twice to take photos. My copy has never been read or even thumbed through. It's virtually in the same pristine state as it was the day I bought it. Any blemishes or defects came with the book from Diamond. There are a few small things like you might expect with any book but it's not like I could say "I don't want this copy. Can I look at the other copies you have?" I can truthfully say that no one but me has handled this book since the day I bought it. I would consider it to be in NM+ or better. Here's my final picture, the back cover out of the bag. My photos probably aren't stellar. If anyone wants more photos, please ask. I won't be taking returns on this book as, once it's out of my hands, I can no longer claim that I've had complete control over it since it came out. Also, I might be open to a trade or partial trade. PM me and we can discuss it. Thanks for reading this far. -

This is a sales thread to accompany the one I have going in the GSB forum for books that I can't list there. In case you haven't seen that thread, you can find it at (until I change the thread title and forget to change this link): The standard stuff: I accept Zelle (I think this is the way to go now), USPS Money Orders, checks and PayPal unless otherwise noted for any specific book or lot; books cannot be shipped while payment is outstanding. If there's a payment method not on my list which you would like to use, let me know via PM. Please, no HOS or Probationers. The buyer has three days from the day of receipt to inspect purchases and books must be returned in the same condition as when they were shipped. Buyer is responsible for return shipping costs unless they're being returned due to an error on my part. Disagreement over grading is not an error; enough scans should be provided so that doesn't happen. Payment will be expected within 48 hours unless sending a check or money order by mail or unless otherwise agreed to. You just have to let me know what your plans are and I expect to hear from you within a reasonable amount of time after your purchase. This helps me get my shipping out to everyone quickly without having to make separate trips to the post office to ship one package at a time and I appreciate that courtesy. I reserve the right to cancel sales to buyers who don't follow through in a timely manner after making a purchase in the thread. Unless otherwise noted, 1 to 4 raw books will be a flat $9.00 shipping in the continental US plus the cost of any necessary insurance (which I strongly recommend). Double sized books may count as two. Over 4 raw books will be up to $16.10 for Priority Flat Rate Medium box. One to three slabbed books will be $16.10 Priority Flat Rate plus the cost of insurance and any necessary tracking (again, highly recommended), and exact shipping for more than that (also in the continental US). I can mail to some places outside of the U.S. for exact shipping costs but check with me as there are currently some destinations I can't ship to. You're welcomed and encouraged to PM me with offers but the first unconditional in the thread trumps PM discussions. You know..., the usual stuff. Additional scans are available for any book upon request. My kudos thread: https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/241444-jim-corrigans-feedback-thread/ Hopefully, I've covered all of the bases. As always, thanks for looking.

Jim Steranko's History of Comics v1 (1970) & v2 (1972) $99.99 This is a fascinating work that every serious comic collector should read at some point. The condition is roughly F/VF with, IMHO, v2 being in a little better condition. v1: The back of v1: Some interior pages of v1: v2: The back of v2: Interior pages of v2: I think I can ship this media mail, I just need to find an appropriately sized box and, once I get the mailing cost calculated, I will let you know.
