Excluding Star Wars there are over 200 Marvel covers across over 100 titles above. It there anything I missed?

Of course there are. I have more Valiant CGC slabs than slabs from any company. I am embarrassed I missed that. I keep my Valiant books, raw and slabbed in a separate tab on my spreadsheet so I missed them. They have been added to the above list.

My first love for action figure covers is Star Wars and I have been attempting to get all of them in CGC 9.8. I have managed to get 93 of the 132 so far. I do quite like the genre and having been trying to collect all action figure covers. To date I know of 545 action figure covers. By action figure covers I mean the covers that look like they are selling an action figure still in its packaging, not covers with action figures posed on them. This is the list of covers I believe have action figure versions but I am sure there must be some I do not know about. If you are aware of any I am missing please let me know. These are my favorite covers coming out currently. He needs to continue making them as he hasn’t quite finished off all the original Return of the Jedi and Power of the force figures released as the Kenner Line was finishing. Once those are finished I am ok if he wants to quit (or do the toy vehicles like he did with the Tie Fighter). I have 90 of the 131 covers in CCG 9.8 released so far (including all Variants - sketch and the 6 Vader Down card backs) and am trying to put together a full set. Only one signature series (I want universal but it seems universal covers are harder to come by than signature series as so many people want these books signed).

I loved, loved Rise of Skywalker. It was easily the best movie of this latest trilogy set. It finally felt like a Star Wars movie. I wasn’t as fond of The first part of the trilogy (Star killer base was stupid and people hardly blinked when a planet was destroyed). I am surprised it is getting very mixed reviews. People either really like it or really don’t. For the record I completely enjoyed Solo as well.

Thanks for add the Pre-Unity book. I generally strongly, strongly, strongly, strongly agree that TPBs should not be added to sets. (That one of the 4 TPBs reprinting the 18 Unity issues (Unity Saga 1-4) is included in the Valiant Unity Set annoys me to no end). Solar, Man of Atom: Alpha & Omega #0 is a bit different as it was issued by Valiant as the zero issue for Solar where as the other Valiant zero issues (i.e. Magnus, Shadowman, Harbinger, etc) were floppies in Solar's case it was in TPB form. If it is too contentious do not worry about it. Ok, it is a little different story with that one... I'll put it in, but know it may come out later if it causes a big stink. I do see your point though.

I have a problem with two of my CGC books. The first book is Captain Johner & the Aliens #2 (Valiant 5/95) yet when I type in the certificate number 0178042003 it comes up as Eternal Warrior 3. See attachments. The second is Grimm Fairy Tales #120 (Zenescope Entertainment 3/16) C2E2 2016 Exclusive and when I type in the certificate number 1358848003 it says it is unable to locate this comic based on the certificate number. See attachments. I hope the first book can have its listing corrected so the certificate points to the correct book in the database and the second book can be added to the database.

Not quite as nice as the 9.4 discussed above that I was the under bidder on but I finally got my Solar 1. In 9.0 which I guess is fitting as it matches my Magnus 1 and Turok 1 which are the same grade. Much lighter on the wallet as only 1,250 on eBay.

Pretty pumped about my auction wins today. It was a Magnus heavy day. Picked up 14 issues that I needed (and lost 4 others that I needed).

I was pretty quite around the Boards here after I sold off all my Marvels and Barks Ducks (thanks for the help with that Tim) as the only slabs I get were some V1 Valiants (plus all 1000's of unslabbed books). I was still in Hong Kong though up until a year and a half ago when I moved to Singapore to launch a hedge fund with a Business School mate of mine. Still make it back to HK about once a quarter and keep a mailing address and have kept my HK mobile number. Think my wife and daughter want to spend fall term break there so I would likely pop up with them for part of it and we should be there for Christmas as well. Maybe a month and a half ago I got back into getting Valiant slabs (V1 pretty hard). I have been reading the new Valiant but other than Gold and Metal covers have basically buying anything else slabbed. With my Valiant project I decided to go after the original Magnus, Solar and Turok books. I won Turok 1 in the Comiclink auction and picked up #4 off of eBay. Got Magnus 1 plus another 5 or so books and picked up maybe 10 of the Solars. I am generally going for 9.2+ for the books but did do 9.0 for Magnus 1 and Turok 1 given their relative scarcity in high grade. If you are ever interested in moving some of your Turok or Solar hit me up.

You only need two crazy fans to drive a books price in auction up. The book was about $2,000 when I started bidding and I was the underbidder at 5,005. As it was in one of those conicconnect extended time auctions I believe that I was the sole other bidder on the book. I never ended up as the high bidder as it went from $2000 to its closing price so someone had placed an insanely high bid in previously. Found out later that the same book had been sitting in the ComicLink market place with a lower price for months and no one bid. I would be careful reading too much into one sale. It might just have been the winner and I who were willing to pay so much for this book.

Yes I am quite happy to finally get a high grade copy of Magnus 1. To get that and the Turok in the same auction makes me a happy camper today. I was actually expecting the Turok to go for more than the Magnus. I thought prices would be swapped given the age and rarity of the two books.

While I understand the same feeling (it happens to everyone) not all books change in grade and not all books that change grade go up. CGC graders are human, and there is money to be made in finding books that look better than the assigned grade. It's no different than finding an undervalued company on the stock market and buying into it before everyone else does. I realize that it doesn't make it sting less but that is the reality of it. Roy it wasn't just these two particular books, it is more the whole CR and CPR game that got me frustrated. It was far more annoying for me as a buyer as you'd come across a book you saw a few months ago and now someone was asking way more for it because the number in the corner changed. It was still the same book. I just got tired of it and in my mind it impacts the integrity of the hobby. I still love comics just I am not longer going to spend $80-100K a year on back issues. I am done for the time being on high dollar and high grade books.

I posted this in the what did you win from Heritage thread but I thought it might be of some interest here. This game just leaves a dirty taste in my mouth. I wish that was the case. In the last Heritage Auction two Barks books that used to be mine sold only to reappear in this auction simply cracked and resubmitted. I do not believe either could have been pressed. The FC 9 (first Barks Donald Duck) went from being an 8.5 to a 9.0 (and I thought it was a marginal 8.5 to begin with) and sold in the July auction for $7,767.50 where now appearing as 9.0 it went for $9,560 in this auction. I think this is a really weak 9 (the chip out of the upper spine corner alone should have prevented it). The FC 386 (Uncle Scrooge 1) went from 8.0 to 8.5 (although I thought it was the nicest looking 8.0 in my collection) and it went from $1,015.70 to $1,505 although in fairness I thought the original sale price was very low for such a nice copy of the book. This was one of a number of reasons I sold off my 450 slabs this year. I just got so sick of CPR and CR and the constant changing of grades on each book (and I was a guy who bought the book not the label but it was still frustrating). I really started to doubt the integrity of some CGC grades.

Just a great set of books. You might just have some competition as this might be my next project
