  1. Don’t get me wrong, I love the art on the page. It was more a commentary on the price for what I would consider a grade ‘C’ page. It would have been probably $20-25k 1-2 years ago and now it’s $60k.
  2. Wow. $57,600 for a pretty boring Byrne X-men page of Magneto following around Beast in an overcoat.
  3. Thanks for the comment. I’m happy that I got it relatively cheaply! (for an original Byrne pencil sketch of an X-man/Avenger)…I’ll just have to appreciate it from far enough away. 🤣 -Will
  4. I wasn’t planning on changing it at all. To me some of the line work looks a bit wobbly so I was wondering if it might have been a more amateur inker making an attempt at it as opposed to Byrne himself (maybe in a rush thus unfinished).
  5. Happy to have won this in the recent Hakes auction! What do you guys think of the ink job? 🖋 🤔 https://www.hakes.com/Auction/ItemDetail/247466/THE-BEAST-SPECIALTY-ORIGINAL-ART-BY-JOHN-BYRNE
  6. Thanks for putting this together. I don’t know about Byrne X-men being above $60k. None of those recent pages from Claremont on Heritage broke $50k. And there are all of those pages from ComicConnect that haven’t sold. I would estimate A-level is probably right around $50k. Of course ‘A’ is in the eye of the beholder. There’s also the ‘Wolverine tax’ so A-level with Wolverine fighting with claws out is probably more than A without Wolverine. -Will
  7. I think Byrne X-men B pages are in the 30+ range now. A pages would draw above 40.
  8. No I haven’t ever had the opportunity. I’ve heard he doesn’t like getting bothered about that kind of stuff. I know I’ve heard it before but I don’t remember the exact breakdown of what the Marvel penciller vs inker vs writer would get. I thought it was something like 2/3 penciller, 1/3 inker and writer gets a couple pages here and there. So I figured Terry Austin has six pages maybe? -Will
  9. Well it’s been about 3 years from the last X-men 128 page addition to my collection. At this rate I’ll be finished with the book in about 30 years. Any leads on any pages would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Please check out my CAF gallery and leave a comment. Thanks! https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1681113 -Will
  10. Hypothetical Question: If the X-men 137 DPS was originally purchased with money embezzled from Stan Lee’s estate and then it’s sold by the embezzler, could the Stan Lee estate lay claim to the art after it had been sold? -Will
  11. Anyone know what's up with the CAF search function? It's only pulling up scattered pieces for me now. For example, "Byrne X-men" only pulls up 9 items and it's mostly garbage. Thanks. -Will
  12. Hmm...Cockrum X-men cover to 102 popping up again in the Heritage Miscellaneous section! https://comics.ha.com/itm/miscellaneous//p/7187-99002.s?ic4=ListView-Thumbnail-071515 Any estimates? -Will
  13. Hi all...I finally got around to posting a pic of my X-men 128 addition from last February's Heritage auction. X-men #128 page 3 For those unaware, my 'Comic Art Life Goal' is to put together this book. This is my 6th page after about 10 years of looking. So I should be done in about another 20 years. As always, if anyone has any leads on any pages from 128...please let me know! I also had some of my collection out for a recent Star Wars party which prompted me pulling the two Romita Droids animated covers out into the light of day. Droids #2 Cover Droids #4 Cover Thanks for looking! -Will
