  1. Is it possible to add a Gobbledygook (1984) set ? Gobbledygook (1984) #1- cert# 3941613002 Gobbledygook (1984) #2 - cert# 3941613001 This series does not qualify for a competitive set, there are less than 3 1st Run issues.
  2. It was finally time to get these evaluated / graded, and I'm super happy with the results!
  3. You don't even have to do that... NFT market is hot this year, with a few like BAYC hitting massive success, and have only been minted in the past 5 months . Lowest price right now for floor apes (commons) is $145K, up to 2M for rares, with a total of 10K were minted (I think each was first offered at 0.08 ETH, or $250-ish ). It's a bubble no doubt, but damn is it interesting to see it explode to such HUGE levels (for blue chips like BAYC, Punks, Gutter Gang, VeeFriends, etc..) - see the recent Sotheby's auction to see how mainstream this has become - https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auction/2021/ape-in/101-bored-ape-yacht-club
  4. So CGC is now grading Gobbledygooks? What is the process to get the books authenticated by Eastman?
  5. great googly moogly, I leave these boards for a year and come back to find this insanity...
  6. I love this poster, it just perfectly embodies the X-comics of the 90's... (not my copy, mine's been in storage for years... I really should dig it out)
  7. per request for update - sale is on indefinite hold... reason: life
  8. Hi all… I wanted to ask a question of the community and get whatever input/comments you wanted to share, either in thread or in pm Basically I have been frustrated with marketplace options (eBay, craigslist, facebook marketplaces), and my background is in building large ecommerce sites, so I figured why not try to build what I wanted. It's taken some time (and a few abandoned versions) but I’ve finally gotten to an public alpha version of moblyn.com. This is a a mobile friendly web platform that was built with the core idea of it being very community-centric but with all of the standard features you'd expect from large market.. However, I’ve now built a fully functional platform based only on what I wanted, and before I sink more hours into a site that really isn’t what other folks want, I really need to get any type of feedback now… Cold, harsh, even blunt comments - like/dislike the site ? A feature is confusing or broken? Like or Don’t get the overall concept? Site design suck? Let me have it all! Message me or reply in this thread if you are interested in helping out. I can reply directly to give more details (i.e. don’t use real Credit Card info, I have a test CC to complete orders), I just don’t want this note to get too long… Yes, there will be bugs (and some graphics that need to be replaced, and maybe some usage issues), so you'll need to be ok with that ! Thanks all… BK (mods, if this needs to be moved to a more appropriate place, no worries, do what you need )
  9. If anyone has been wanting/waiting for some early Turtle books in (likely) high grades, I am finally letting my small collection go (details about the group can be found earlier in this thread). I just finished boxing up the comics for the trip to CGC, and then on to ComicLink for a summer sale (date still up in the air). I snapped this just prior to packing, darn nice looking group of books when they're all together.
  10. I'll be honest, even I didn't realize it was a multi-cover book, even when I first reviewed it. It was later that I opened it a second time and thought "hmm, well I'll be... look at these other covers". It would not surprise me at all that Tropics was not aware, and yes with the way that these books were labeled on the mylocks, I'm sure that it would have been noted... It's funny, you mention how great it is that these books have all been kept together and with their original bags/info. Yes, totally agree from a collection standpoint it's great, but it does add some challenges to future sales... I've discussed consigning the entire group through Heritage, and each time I can't make the decision to pull the collection apart to sell them in separate lots... It doesn't feel right. But I also know individually they'd likely sell better. So, I just drag my feet and make no decision, ...
  11. I believe the kaylab who posted it still does. He's a member here. I have the Silver but otherwise he has the Gold/White and Gobbledygooks from Tropic Comics. I would bet Archon Turtle or someone else in this thread would know better but as of my posting it was still in his possession so I gave him the back history on the collection via posts and PMs. totally random that I saw this, I've been absent from the site for quite some time and just happened to stop by tonight... Yup, I still have those Tropics Comics Turtles books, which I now know are in fact from Tropics thanks to the messages from ChrisFB.
  12. Wow!! Thank you soo much for shinning some light on the background of the TMNT collection I have! This is very cool to see/know, as it really does explain a number of things. I'll be in touch with some follow up questions, but it was really cool to see this post and have that "ah hah" moment. Thank you! bk
  13. was just catching up on this thread, and saw the running total... I posted this in the other TMNT thread, but will put it here to get in the list of "raw" copies
  14. Just buy another Encapsulation Machine, add a 2nd shift, and hire more graders. To train the new graders should be done on 2nd shift. If the grades I received this week are any indication of the state of training, I'd prefer they train the graders on somebody elses books - Overall lower than expected grades, and 21 books returned failing 9.4 prescreen that both Joey and I thought were 9.4+ candidates... Between the absurdly long wait times and now this harsh grading standard, I'm done for awhile.
  15. I mentioned earlier this week I'd share this, thought some might find it neat to see, two of these paper fliers for the turtlemania event came with my group of comics...
  16. you gotta do it, all the cool kids are doing it...
  17. It is very interesting...especially because it's not stapled to the cover. The Gold cover is almost like a printer's proof that someone kept. I want to correct a minor point I think you made there. It may not display well in the photo, but all 3 covers are indeed stapled to the book. I'm back on the road for a few days, but if there is any interest, I can grab a pic & share one more interesting item from the lot of books. A few pieces of non comic ephemera were included in the lot, including 2 of the original fliers for the Turtlemania event. It's just basic photocopied flier, nothing fancy, not sure if these are still widely available, but thought it cool that these survived with the books...
  18. here's the photo of the Gold with multiple covers, it goes Gold -> Silver -> Regular. The silver cover is not signed/numbered also, I'm including this photo, it shows a few bags/boards that the comics came in... All comics in this group have this same description, "display only" and then the details of the comic. In addition, all comics look like they signed by Eastman (and half by Laird) at the same time, all dated '85 and the sigs/ink all look identical (like they were done one after another). This all has me wonder if these were actually part of the display of a dealer, or maybe even on display at the Turtlemania event (hence my question for photos of the event in a past post). Just a theory...
  19. Sure, I'll get some photos of the multiple covers on Sunday night when I return home. I'm not sure if the silver cover is signed or not, I'll also check that too. I'm glad I asked, when I opened the book for the first time I thought to myself 'hmm, I had no idea it was made like this... Must just be common knowledge, I've never seen it mentioned'. Guess it may be the oddity I first thought it was...
  20. two questions - first, do all Gold Turtlemania books have three covers (regular, silver over the regular, and gold over silver)? Until I had mine in hand, I never realized this was the case. Also curious, did anyone attend the Turtlemania event in Florida (from where these comics came)? How well was it attended? Do any photos exist of the exhibitors, or these books for sale? I'm curious just how small this was...
  21. just to close this out... finally got my books, apart from one book that appears to have been damaged after the sales photos were taken, all of the books are great. Bad new is, the one damaged book is the TMNT #1... check it out, the lower right corner of the front cover, I'm pretty damn sick about this.
  22. looking at your Golds again, woregul, realy great books, what a buy! Mine are coming in from UK, London specifically.. I think I've gotten them cleared through customs now (unopened, yay), it was a snag in the paper work. These should be at home when I get back from business travel this week, huzzah!
  23. congrats, damn, that was FAST! so jealous, I'm STILL waiting for my recent purchase, that I posted here, to arrive. First there was problem getting them shipped (the problem being the seller just never sent em out until I bothered them enough times over 2 weeks), and now the damn package is being held by US Customs, so I gotta get that straightened out tomorrow... still hoping they arrive in the condition I purchased them at, but I have no idea if customs has opened the package, and if so did they have any regard for the condition of the contents? unlikely...
  24. turns out, two sold by same seller, both had same buy-it-now price of $450 here's the other... http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=150851881943&si=b4zXCtRLnm0LtiDQOelmE%252BlbbzU%253D&viewitem=&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_500wt_1258
