Great looking books. I'm a Lone Ranger fan but I especially love the Gollub covers in the teens and twenties.

Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?

Those are great looking early (and earliest) mapbacks. I must have been distracted by the books, since I just noticed your unicorn joke. Ha. -
That's a beauty.

The Black Lizard books were the first Thompson's I read. This was about 25 years ago and I think they all had black and white photo covers then. -

I thought you had them all and were just slow rolling us. -

SA posted a copy of Last Days a few months ago and I'm happy to get one. Here's the similar Wild Town (posted a few years ago) for comparison. Two great Maguire covers, but I agree with SA that the Last Days is better, though the Thompson's going to cost much more. -

I haven't seen this one before and it's now on my list too. Here's another Road Show (1961) about carny life, but different book and author and Mannix's very interesting autobiography of his time as a carny (including being a sword swallower and fire eater). And to tie in to OtherEric's Oz post, the Mannix Wiki page shows him as being one of the founders of the Munchkin convention. -

Avon #80 is by Cheney and has the same cover art as the MMM #15 (without the skulls) but has a different title. Not sure if it's the same book though. -

That's huge. The biggest pb I have is the Bantam Grapes of Wrath at only 570 pages. -

What a great cover that I somehow didn't even notice before. Very pretty copy too. -
Post Your Promotional Comic Books Here!!!!

One of my few promo books. I've seen 3 versions of this one so far. One with the Monsanto emblem above the girls head and no price, one without the Monsanto emblem but with a 10 cent price in the upper right and this one with neither. -

Cograts and I'd definitely like to see the group shot. -

Luckily, I have 5 or 6 other collecting interests to keep me busy, or I'd definitely have the "dog in the meadow" approach. There are just so many cool pb's out there. I also didn't mind my snails pace since I originally planned to read a copy of every book I bought, but that plan's been shot to hell. Was introduced to some great authors though. -

Thanks. These are only single layer. I have another 50 or so books to add when I get the time but still have plenty of space on these shelves with my small collection . You, and most of the others that post here, obviously need much more shelf space. Looking forward to seeing what you end up with.
