  1. I made an offer on a 5 figure piece but was turned down. tomorrow is a new day with more art to buy!
  2. Artistically, not the best piece. Characters are small, it’s more of a panel page than a splash page. What I like is it has 5 main Marvel characters on it. HOWEVER, what this piece has going for it is history. It’s a historic piece of Marvel. It is very early Spider-Man, early FF, and retells parts of ASM #1. As a piece of art: 6/10 As a piece of Marvel history: 9/10 Overall 7.5 rating for me.
  3. Even easier than that would be to look for the July cover date on the comic not matching the 10/1986 label date!
  4. Now that I am a dad, this is one of my favorite pages in the book. I love that middle panel with Matt and his father,
  5. If you don’t like these “mistakes” you’ll hate the even more exaggerated “mistakes” of Todd McFarlane’s anatomy.
  6. Neal last week and George this week? A sad time for us all!
  7. Kirby had his hand on so many things from 1940's-1990's. Superheroes, Romance, Westerns, Crime, Monsters, back to Superheroes, etc. He had a hand in creating a ton of characters & even the genres themselves! I'm struggling to think of 1 thing Adams actually created. He was good at advancing the art of already established entities, but created almost none by comparison. Artistically they are too different to compare. You either like the styles they implemented or you didn't. I appreciate both!
  8. So sad! I met Neal Adams several times. One time in particular he was at a bar after a day at a con back in 2014. He was telling us all (a court of 10-15) many stories of his early days back at DC. He was quite the story teller!
  9. Got a lot in common with my dad. He’s got a watch collection, car collection, and did have a red 308 years back. Here he is in one of his two Lamborghini’s at a car show. This one is a ‘72 Miura SV.
  10. The fact that it is sideways art, does that help it or hurt it?
  11. The fact that it looks like the entire book is up for auction, collectors will have a lot of choices. One already said they prefer the splash to the cover. 300k plus juice plus tax is actually a 400k purchase! I could be off, probably am. I guess we’ll see.
  12. It’s possible in todays arena, the MH is better than his, why? 30-35 years back, the MH was viewed as a restored 7.0 to 8.0, depending on who you asked. Everyone knew it was restored, with some resto having been removed since those days, such as piece removal. If the other copy was only a 6.5, by default a 6.5 unrestored trumps any restored copy, MH or not! Flash forward to the world of restoration removal, grading and grading bumps, it’s not so clear. I know nothing about the other copy, never seen it. I’m only suggesting 1 possible outcome. Until a grading company verifies the other copy, this is all we have, guesses!
  13. A good friend of mine was in line to buy the book from Redbeard back in the 90's for $150k. He had a deal in place to buy every MH Redbeard had, and did so for many, many years. Towards the end of his deal, he felt paying 150k for a "low grade" Mile High was not in his best interests, so he passed on the book. The book made it's way to Bechara.
  14. Do you want 1 Michael Jordan or 20 Joe Blows? Quality over quantity! All day, every day!
  15. My advice: Go to your LCS and buy 1000 books from their 25¢ boxes & press everyone at least once! Then you MIGHT be ready to press something of value. Seriously!
