That's amazing. I wouldn't want to be holding that hot potato. Luckily I bought my copy 36 years ago for 6 bits. Not 9.8, but good enough for me.

I haven't bought much in the last 2 years, but 80% of what I have bought is bronze. It's what I collected off the rack as a kid.

That's a beautiful, great wrapped copy. Back in 81, many dealers used the G, F & M grading scale. He was pretty close.

I'll echo what many have said. I'd take the HOS 92 simply because of the cover art by Wrightson. I'm a bit biased as that is the only book of the two that I currently own. I owned a 129 about 8 years ago in 9.6, but really hated the wrap of the book. Never replaced it. I doubt I'll ever own another high grade copy. I don't know which book will be worth more, but just try finding a perfectly wrapped, white paged copy of HOS in high grade. They don't come up for sale very often.

Frankly, I'm shocked the 9.2 is sitting where it is. I doubt it moves from it's current bid, but I've been wrong many times before.

Even more interesting is the 9.2 copy. Perfectly aligned, super bright and white pages. $1,600 and counting.

So what's the over/under on the Pep 22 at auction? 150K?

Tec 411 already fetches more in grade. Bats 232 is even/slightly above 251 in higher grades (at least 9.2). All are pretty difficult with white pages and perfect wraps. I still curse the seller of a 251 9.4 CGCS with white pages that poo poo'd a deal I agreed to a year and a half ago. I was asking for mailing address when they said they required a deposit. WTF? They wait 2 days and they get the cash. Last time I ever tried to buy a book on ebay.

The 9.9 copy has had several old threads about it's actual condition. Some of the boardies have seen the book in hand and said it was unworthy of the 9.9 designation and may not even get a 9.8 if resubmitted. I can see that copy being in the old holder for a long, long time.

Sounds eerily similar to all of the bitcoin craziness a year ago. For the record, I'd buy a Hulk 181 before I ever touched bitcoin, but not at the current going rate.

I'll echo what's already been said. The books look hideous. If you want an Adams sketch, do it on a nice piece of paper. That 234 is in competition with some of Stan's worst doodles. That 227 was a beautiful book, what a shame.

X-men 94 is a good candidate for an upswing as well, imo.

I remember 3 or 4 years ago, a boardie had a gorgeous 9.4 with white pages. I was waiting for one of my stocks to hit a certain number. Well, that didn't work out and I'm kicking myself for not buying it then. 9.2's were going for 2 grand and the 9.4 was $2,750. White paged beauty with great centering. I'd have to spend nearly triple that now. Not gonna happen. I think the only way 181 moves down is if we have a recession or major conflict. Barring that, it will be flat or continue to climb.
