  1. An iPhone photo of my two main pickups at WW Chicago.
  2. Funny, how every single one of those buyers left stellar feedback for the books they bought. Except you, who have never bought a single item from me, ever. The buyer of the 9.9 VOB is a Board Member who doesn't leave feedback due to confidentiality, and he laughed all the way to the bank on that one. SWEET copy. Now in an SS 9.9 slab. And he's come back for more "overgraded" books. The joke's on you Transplant, and every time you look in a mirror. First, you all need to chill and tell the community what copper books are heating up . Divad loves tooting his own horn, I'd recommend you block him if it really annoys ya Transplant. Divad, according to the census there is no 9.9SS of this book, and I know from cgc the census was updated not long ago. So who is the mystery boardie? Only asking as I'm looking for this book.
  3. I don't envy you the job, and if I were local I'd love to volunteer. Trust me, get shelves first. Otherwise every box you'll need will be on the bottom. Every time.
  4. You might consider some shelving for your boxes, Frankie. It's a lot less work to get to each box when you don't have to unstack them. Might make the sorting and storage more pleasant. The last storage closet I had was a nightmare to get into, and so I never put stuff away and just let it stack up. Now that I have useful shelves I can actually get to boxes and its much nicer. If you have space it might help. The boxes are eating floor space anyway, so shelving won't even be intrusive.
  5. I just found a half dozen in the dollar boxes at the Mile High warehouse store that they apparently overlooked. I'm getting close to completing the bullet books after finding one in KC last weekend and a JLA #58 at Mile High.
  6. And even if they did, using Namor at that point would seem to the average moviegoer that Marvel was just copying Aquaman.
  7. I picked up a super low grade #119 over the weekend at the Kansas City show. It reads fine, but the covers have split neatly from the book and each other. The price was right though ($5) and the grade not too far off from the range I've been getting in these early books.
  8. Found this on the show's website: This explains why I didn't see more of the books at the show, I guess. Not sure that trying to sell as a lot is the best strategy, but they're welcome to try.
  9. I've been to many cons of this size without this good a selection of dealers and quality of guest list. It wasn't San Diego, but then few shows are. Other than the slightly overpriced Sunday admission price I was happy with it, but I can see how some would have been underwhelmed. Sunday's crowd was decent, but several of the comic dealers weren't exactly busy. It's a show I would go back to as a buyer, but I would go one day for 4-5 hours and would not need a three day pass (which would only be a good option if you wanted to share it with friends, as it was a lanyard and not a wristband like WW). Yeah, I'm still hoping to hear more about this "complete Marvel collection". I wouldn't expect all the 35 cent variants myself, but I would have expected complete SA runs of all the main titles at a minimum. I didn't see anything like that there.
  10. I pretty much agree with what D Stuart said above. I haven't yet been to Planet, so I can't compare the two, but this was basically a solid medium/regional sized show. It was similar in size to the shows we do at the Irving Convention Center (Dallas Fan Days/Sci-Fi Expo) in February & October each year, but I felt like this had a better mix of comic dealers amongst the non-comic tables. The guest list was also very solid, but I got to walk right up to Zeck, Beatty, and Shooter one right after the other with zero lines. It was great for me, but I'm not sure it bodes well for the return of talent like that in subsequent years. Wall books were fairly sparse in the affordable ($100-500) range. I did see three AF #15s and two or three FF #1s, and most of the major keys were represented on walls. But in terms of nicer SA material I was looking for I didn't see much. I saw only a couple of pre-hero Marvel books in the room, an AA #1 and a TOS #16, neither was in grade. Not a ton in the way of slabbed keys/better books outside of Boom Comics (out of Topeka and Manhattan), Be Bop (KC area) or Elite Comics (Overland Park). I'd heard there was a CGC 9.8 Hulk #181 in the room Friday. As for the "complete Marvel collection", it was either awfully picked over by the time I saw the booth on Sunday morning, or it wasn't all that complete to begin with. I'd be interested to hear anything more about this collection that anyone might know. I did do well with box diving, and spent about $50 on $1-5 material that filled some gaps. I do enjoy the hunt, and that made the trip more than worthwhile. If there was one con to the show it was the $30 entry fee for a one-day Sunday pass, which I thought was a bit steep for what I got. I would have been fine spending $20 though. Parking was $8, which was quite fair for a downtown convention center, and it was fairly easy to get to (traffic was virtually nonexistent when we rolled up at about 10:30). But I'd give it another shot next year, and would even consider setting up if I were in the position to do so. I was fine driving ~2 hours to get to this show, but if the same show were ~6 hours away in St. Louis I doubt I would make the trip unless I was also going for other reasons.
  11. I'll be there today in camo shorts and an Oz Comic Con shirt, feel free to say hello if you see me.
  12. Would a nicely presenting low grade Adventure #247 count? Why yes, that would count. If someone had such a thing. I'll get a photo or two up when I get a chance. Seemed like a good reason to bump the thread. It has about a 2 inch spine split at the top and 1/2 inch split at the bottom, but both staples are secure in the cover and centerfold. I think I did ok.
  13. Doubt that's the case - all the suits care about is $ and the stink of this one may taint them into working something out with Marvel. Why does Marvel need the FF? Between the Avengers and the Inhumans they've got teams covered. What does the FF offer? Striking a deal for Spidey makes obvious sense, but I'm not sure the FF does outside of pure fanboy desire to see them in the MCU.
  14. I had planned to see it for this reason, but after reading many of the reviews I've pretty much been talked out of that. I'll wait for Netflix.
  15. Sounds promising! I'm still anticipating being there Sunday. I'm hoping we've got a second good show in KC. I've heard very good things about Planet, but being new to the area I haven't been yet.

  17. Looks like this book hasn't cooled in the least. A 3.0 just sold for over $400 in the last Comiclink auction. They've listed a 7.0 in the next auction, and it'll be interesting to see where it ends up. Very glad I bought my 5.0 when I did.

  19. 1980s comics come from the 1980s. What's copper got to do with it? Would you consider comic books an artform? I would. Most forms of art that come to mind (art itself, architecture, etc..) are defined in periods for many reasons; ie. social class, economy of the time, typology, etc... But many types of art styles existed concurrently - for example Art Deco and Surrealism both occurred at the same time in the 1920's. So, by that same rational, could Bronze and Copper both exists at the same time? If the ages are defined by style or content, absolutely, and different titles could have different breakpoints as the "feel" changes. If eras are defined strictly by time, then probably not.
  20. My latest Comiclink win is a book I've been after in grade for a while...
