  1. Yes. Mainly when I've tried to research various shows and the top search result ends up being my board post on that very show.
  2. BEAT THAT! Cool story, I like that one! If only they filmed the movie there, but I just checked IMDB and it was all filmed up in Canada (I already knew it wasn't filmed on location in BG).
  3. Not a comic, but the book "I love you, Beth Cooper" was set in my home town (Buffalo Grove, IL) and largely takes place at my former high school (BGHS). Beth's house was about three blocks from my house.
  4. Well, that, and actually having a character in the movie. One, and from what I've heard (never read any Guardians books so I don't know for sure) Yondu isn't anything like his MSH character.
  5. Got my four copies in hand today. Through the bags they all look 9.6/9.8, so unless there is something on that back (which I'll check later) I'm pleased.
  6. By Crom, let me go toss straw in the pens....... It has more good buzz than Suicide Squad. Have you been on some of the other major boards, especially non-comic book boards? Suicide Squad is getting destroyed with ridicule. People are having fun with it. So I`m not the only one who sees a mediocre movie ahead with this. If I loaded up with Legends and Suicide Squad keys I would be dumping them fast. My son is in college. He says on campus that Suicide Squad is being discussed with much anticipation. So I'm not seeing a mediocre movie at all. As for keys. There are keys and there are keys. Legends 1 & 3? Yeah, maybe some unwarranted hype. Time will tell. Brave and the Bold 25?? THAT book has been overlooked for decades. Came out before the first JLA. I have a funny feeling people are going to take bath on them, and that`s were the hates coming from. People loaded up on the Suicide Squad keys expecting Suicide Squad to be another Guardians of Galaxy. If I am wrong I will be the first one on here saying it was a good or great Suicide Squad movie, but from what I seen so far I am not impressed. The buzz on college is based much on the a few of the actors - Jared Leto being at the top. Leto turns down a lot of roles and he has a serious following as a true overall artist. Will Smith brings serious established Hollywood start power. It's hard to imagine a flop. But this is DC. I don't see B&B 25 being high risk either. This is a SA key from 1959 by one of the two top publishers. Suicide Squad has enjoyed a few decent runs. IMO the book was way too cheap. Other than the words "Suicide Squad" on the cover, B&B 25 has nothing to do with this movie. -J. Yep. I don't think there is a single character from that version that is in this film. If there is a book likely to take a hit, along with the others, it'll be this one. It may not fall as far, if it deserved a bump, but with much of this increase tied to the film it can't sustain this value if the speculators jump ship. One could say the exact same thing about Marvel Super-Heroes 18 and the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Indeed you could. MSH #18 is substantially more common than the B&B is though, but that's about the only difference.
  7. I admittedly have a relatively uninformed opinion here, but would anyone make or see a Suicide Squad without Harley? The mainstream has never heard of this team or any of the members, and she will be a key draw for casual/non comic fans. To put it another way, what percentage of cosplay do you think is Harley, and what percent is any of these other characters?
  8. Other that the pig tails, I'm not seeing any other similarities there. It may just be me.
  9. Better people should just complain on and on repeatedly before any real footage shows up? That wasn't a shot at you, just at the costume. I think folks will be complaining about this one plenty, as the last several pages show. DC dug themselves a hole with these photo releases, and any footage will have to be pretty spectacular to dig back out of it. I thought Robbie was a great choice for Harley, but then I assumed that they'd actually put her in something resembling Harley's costume. If they wanted to go this way, then why haven't the comics been heading in this direction? Marvel has been working to move character designs towards those of the MCU. It's an odd choice to take this much of a departure from her very popular look. I'm not saying she needs the red and black jumpsuit, but did they need to go pink and blue? And if she goes with red and black earlier/later why not show that version so as not to needlessly rile the haters?
  10. No matter how many pics you post the costume isn't getting any better...

  12. Yep, time to jump into some of the threads on those 2020 releases instead.
  13. A sixth print it is then, I stopped paying attention after the fourth so I lost count.
  14. It's a limited 5th print with a B & W variant. It takes some pretty serious mental gymnastics to consider this a first print just because the slab doesn't say reprint. If its the same story with a different cover its a later printing.
  15. The dude on the left couldn't look more like Peter Parker.
  16. Definitely a legitimate complaint. Agreed. I sincerely hope JTC makes the most of the extra $5 he has gained on my 2 book order by illegally sending comics via media mail, and that it alleviates some of the personal hatred he has for the people that have speculated on his $20 $60 variant. I'm sure they think we owe that $5 to them for the pain they have gone through sending out hundreds of packages, just so people can make money off of them - because we are all slimy thieves. They may have spent more than $8.50 on sending huge bulk orders (didn't someone get theirs UPS?), but that shouldn't be picked up by the little orders. We're talking some real money here with this shipping downgrade. If he sold 4,000 copies via his site, and if we conservatively estimate that the average order was 4 copies, that's 1,000 orders with a $4.50 overcharge for shipping. While it would appear that they underestimated the cost of the UPS orders, I'd bet they're in the vast minority and the $4,500 extra they generated with bait and switch shipping would easily cover it (and then some).
  17. Saw a FaceBook post that has this con taking place Oct 31-Nov 1 in Norman at the Embassy Suites. This is the weekend after WW Tulsa and shares the Saturday with WW Austin. I'll post more when I find it.
  18. This is my old copy that I bought in 1991 from John Verzyl. For those of you who know the collection, this is the Daniel Erwine copy. The 2 biggest defects on the book is the chip out of the spine & someone (before I owned it) started to erase Daniel Erwine's name from the bottom of the 1st page. They put a small hole in the paper. The book has no Marvel chips or tears at all, a real beauty as a 7.5! It looks like an 8.0 all day long. Were the pages visible all along the right edge of the fc when you owned it? Yes. (thumbs u Thanks!

  20. I'm surprised that this club hasn't gotten more love lately. I just picked up a low grade hole filler for the time being, I'll try to get it scanned.
  21. That was the pre-hero run I started with.
  22. Bottom row, far right works for me..... GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u I had the same thought. Amazing ... I thought the same thing before seeing your reply. He has the look of a Romita Peter Parker, and that would be the right way to begin subconsciously appealing to long time fans while not alienating the millennials they're trying to appeal to. As long as the kid can act, of course.
  23. Is it just me, or is this a pretty strong result for this book? More than once I've seen ungraded pre-hero books sell for much stronger prices than I anticipate that those same books would get in a CGC holder. Maybe this is people gambling that it would come back higher than the assessment by the seller, or maybe someone just wanted this book. It is a tough one to be sure.
