Yeah, I was wondering as well...seems that he placed some kind of cone/circle template and used an airbrush to color the area white.  Not sure.

I've seen a lot of artists do this. Take a look back and you can find Mark Brooks examples on Spider-Gwen for sure. It looks like they paint a splotch and then go over it with the art work.

I would almost take that Phoenix to a show and ask him what it would cost to have him do waist to collar bone and make it a half-body sketch. Looks great either way!

Finally the missing piece of the puzzle has been complete. Special thanks for @Kevlar for getting Patrick Stewart to sign this. Also shoutout to Captured Collectibles and @inthehottub for getting the others.

Hoping that at some point I might be able to add the rest, but if not I can live with mine. Funny enough I just realized the label on mine is wrong, but I'll leave it alone. Frakes signed on 5/13 and Spiner and McFadden signed on 4/21.  Congrats on a complete book!

  4. No one particular vendor, you just need to keep an eye out for what's coming out in previews or keep up with what is coming out and grab the ones that you want. A lot of online and brick and mortar places will order more and give a better price if they have the money up front. Otherwise you take the risk that someone walks in and grabs the one or two copies they probably ordered.

Blanks from the beginning of the sketch cover era are hit and miss. Avengers #1 was great quality but Gen 13 #1 was pretty horrible. Most of the manufacturers have heard from enough people to know to do better these days than a glossy blank.

  5. Anyone know how this will work for those of us that ordered through Celebrity Authentics? I looked up my 9.8 pre-order and it hasn't been fulfilled yet, which isn't unexpected. I was just wondering if they would be behind all the ones sent in on other accounts.

Thx! yeah I was thinking about doing an 'everybody signs #1' Futurama book, but this seemed more interesting - also getting everyone to sign a single book would be a big hit to the wallet, and this seemed to lessen the blow, or at least slow it down over time lol

I couldn't find a good one for Phil LaMarr tho. I got a couple other Futurama sigs (my fav I think is Welker), but they're not singles on the census, so I posted them over in the Celebrity thread.

I thought the same thing when I started doing Dragonball voice actor signatures. I could fork out the money to get a number one and have multiple people sign it over and over or I could get individual books that are meant for the specific voice actor's character. In the end I decided to go with the multiple books and I've been very happy with the results so far!

  7. What worries me about the books I sent in is that I sent them through a dealer in town instead of sending them in directly. Turned out my three were all that store wound up sending in. He didn't even send in any for the store. With the fact that all these being sold by a dealer, is Arthur going to see these from a dealer and not put effort into them because he thinks they are just going to be put up for re-sale? I can tell you right now that Princess Leia, Wonder Woman and Catwoman won't be leaving my collection anytime soon if they are the same quality as the others. Just crossing my fingers at this point.

  8. In the scenario you are presenting, no it doesn't mean a thing to me, but let me give you another way to look at it. Say you collect your birth month books and you want the signer to sign on your birthday to mark the occasion. I've done this several times over the years and have signatures from Neal Adams, Stan Lee, and others that were signed at conventions on my birthdate. These are literally some of my favorite books just because of the date they were signed. :)

Hey, great question, I submitted a Longshot #1 Newsstand that was a GCG 9.8 and I asked for a drawing Spiral and Mojo creeping up behind him thinking that was shooting the moon.  Figured that would look great on that cover, wish I knew how elaborate he was getting and I would have asked for a Dazzler giving his leg the Princess Leia treatment too.  One day we'll get them back....

First signing he did I sent a Longshot 1 newsstand, came back with a 9.6 and a nice reasonable Longshot sketch. I almost sent it back for the Spiral and a press but decided not to chance it anymore than I had.

I have this book signed by the other actresses but this was a send in to Official Pix and don’t know them well enough to have them crack out a book.  I will say all the books I have sent in so far have come back 9.8 but those are ones I have prepped.

Looks like they are all 4 at MegaCon this weekend and a couple of other shows later on like Lexington. I still have the photo covers for a few issues but this series didn't have Shannon in it so I'm trying to decide what I want to do about that.

  11. Ok so just to keep things on the first page and so on, what's the unique characters you are waiting on at this point? I guess I'm surprised I haven't seen more Spirals, but I had a hard time deciding on my characters. Looks like a lot of us had at the very least a black cat in mind.

I'm pretty excited about this one.  I LOVE Futurama.  I'm always down to watch an episode.  It's been cancelled and brought back on (I believe) 4 separate occasions. So many good characters, so many good jokes.  At some point, I wanted to get a good Futurama book done and the end of 2023 presented a nice opportunity to get basically the entire main cast.  I don't often interact with voice actors at these shows and was blown away by how friendly they were and so many of them even slipped into their character voices when talking to people.

Anyway, here's Futurama-o-rama...which is a trade paperback that collects the first 4 issues of the comic series.  It's the only graded copy period.  I was shocked since it's over 20 years old...though I suppose TPB's aren't super common slab material.  But this cover is just too good!

Tress MacNeille - "Jam a *spoon* in it, you " -Mom

John DiMaggio - "Shut up baby, I know it" - Bender

Maurice Lamarche - "I apologize for nothing" - Hedonismbot

Lauren Tom - "Smeesh!" - Amy

Billy West - "Shut up and take my money" - Fry

Phil Lamarr - "My Manwich!" - Hermes

    Katey Sagal - Leela

I'd consider cracking it for Matt Groening.  Otherwise, I'm thrilled with this one.

They really are awesome. I got to work a convention in Chattanooga that had DiMaggio, West and Tom and they were a lot of fun and a great panel! This is a great book!

  13. I looked on the Celebrity Authentics site just yesterday wondering the same thing. Not sure if it has taken place yet. It was scheduled for December at one point. Their website still states that shipping will take place in Q1 2024 so it should be soon!

  14. I can only hope the three blanks I sent this time come back looking like those examples. I got in on the first one and it listed "no blanks" and I have a great Longshot remark on a Longshot #1 and a nice Emma on an X-Men Gold. When I saw this one didn't have that same stipulation, I had to take a shot. I'll wait.
