  1. Thanks for sharing these. Congrats on landing all three Blacks. Do you have the full set of 12 ashcans? I imagine you have to be pretty close. Would love to see them all together once you get that green label on the yellow sorted out.
  2. I know I'm way late to see this, but first, congrats dude... good looking books. If you don't mind me asking, what's the number on that Blue #1 - looks like it's written in the top left corner, but the angle of the photo makes it disappear. Also, what's the grade on that Blue #3?
  3. Oh no. I didn’t realize. Sad either way. Just didn’t realize it was a boardie.
  4. If you don't mind saying, what are the marked numbers on the ashcans you found? awesome you were able to score those at a flea market!
  5. 1) Good Luck. 2) Some more free advice: I've been picking up ashcans since 2004 but didn't start seriously hawking down a set until 2010. I finally finished Dec 2019 when I bought out a boardie's full set in order to secure the Black #3 and finish it. Not to mention explaining to my wife why I was putting thousands of dollars into some comic books. FWIW, I was able to sell off most of the doubles and makeup what I spent on the set. Do your research to know what a good price is (I kept a spreadsheet tracking every book I've seen - book #, CGC grade, date, price, seller, buyer if possible, location, and any other notes). And know that you'll probably have to buy/sell a lot of doubles in order to get the books you need/want. But in my experience, it works out. By my count, I'm only in $1020 net on the full set purely bc I've been able to sell the doubles and makeup the cost. If you only ever buy the books you need for the set, you're going to be in for quite a bit more. By my count, there have been 9 Black #1 sightings (3 APs), and 6 Black #3s. Someone by the handle Pandama(Ebay)/Panda17(board) introduced a raw copy of each (#1 was an AP, #3 was numbered 9) in early 2019 when they were tasked with selling off their late brother-in-law's collection. But nobody's proudly shown them off since then, so I don't know who ended up with them or if that #3 completed anyone's set. Edit: I looked again and saw Pandama introduced 2 Black #1s - one was an AP and the other was numbered 27... as well as the Black #3
  6. FWIW, that was listed 3 years ago and I bought it Dec 2019 in order to obtain the #3 black and complete my set. I've since sold most of the doubles and completely made up what I paid for the set.
  7. Interesting. I've not heard of nor seen a silver foil Maxx 1/2. There was that one with no foil title, but you already linked to it. Weird for it to show up on the census with nobody showing it off even. I imagine it'd be even weirder if the person who had it graded just hoarded it too. My dollar says it'll come up for sale soon enough if it's legit. Thanks for tagging me and putting this on my radar. Also, what happened to RMA? I'm not super active, but didn't realize he disappeared. He's still got books for sale on eBay...
  8. Dude. How wonderfully thoughtful of you. Thanks for sharing! #humansbeingbros
  9. Found one! https://www.ebay.com/itm/202909145171?ul_noapp=true
  10. I’ll tell ya, for all the attention the blacks and yellows get, there haven’t been a whole lot of sightings of the #2 red. I listed a CGC 7.0 in a no reserve eBay auction and it went for $260 last year. maybe RMA can chime in with a little GPA data. ??
  11. It seems to wax and wane over the years. Hard for me to say if the movie prospect has anything to do with it. But from my experience, if one of the rarer books pops up on ebay, especially a black, *and sells*, others suddenly become available. My guess is that the folks holding on to them see what someone is willing to pay for it and it loosens their grip. I'd even venture to say that the grip loosens more if there's actual bidding and not a BIN, because that means there's another potential buyer out there. But that's merely my guess. These books are so stinkin' rare, it's hard to say for sure.
  12. nope. This one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-MAXX-1-Black-Ashcan-Numbered-20-Signed-by-Sam-Kieth-Image-1993/184167608267?hash=item2ae13eafcb:g:NIoAAOSwJ5BeQ1YK
  13. That’s the second #1 she’s sold - had a raw AP go for ~$1600 before the #3 listed.
  14. Thanks for the explanation. Sounds like a mess. Only reason I called it “your chart” is bc it’s the one you posted as evidence of a sale I called rumored...even though it also included a “sale” that you know is invalid, but the rest of GPA membership doesn’t know the pissy backstory.
  15. I'm saying that chart can't be showing just black ashcan slabs... because there's a yellow sale on there. The only other black #3 slab sale I saw was in 2014 when spreads sold his set of all three black ashcans on ebay for $2800... and that's not showing up on your chart. Also, is the one on your chart dated 02/2013 an actual sale? I know you listed yours around then for $2099.95, but if it sold in 2013, how could the same book sell again in 2015 for $1750? I don't trust your chart.
