  1. Awaiting claim but appears "Sold".  Journey Into Mystery 83 1st Thor, Solid GD/VG 2.5/3.0 range.  Tight spine and staples, very solid overall VG condition with small corner piece out that is about the same size I see in other books getting 2.5/3.0 when they are otherwise in nice condition.  Very top strip on interior cover shows slightly discolored like it once had very brief contact with water, but so brief it left no water marks on the front cover.   90 day GPA 2.5 is $8,137 and 3.0 is $10,196.  I would say its 50/50 on which grade.  Satisfaction and No restoration guarantee.   Board Price $7,750 with nothing but significant upswing potential, quite possibly thousands of dollars at that price!  For reference look at a scan of an All American 17 with a much larger piece missing and huge spine splits at 2.5, this JIM 83 puts that one to shame.

Brave & Bold 28 1st Justice League of America, the 1st Ever Superhero team in the Silver Age and many believe the greatest team of all time, it all started right here!  Another beauty VG from the front cover, fully attached, tight staples, nice page quality, another corner piece out but on the lower left back side where it looks like it also had brief contact with water near the corner leaving a lighter "clean" margin area in a small section, a 1" edge tear on the front cover near Wonder Woman's waist.  Similar to JIM 83 in so many ways, likely falls in that same 2.5/3.0 category depending on the grader/day.  Book is trending up in most grades, most recent sales in 2.5/3.0 both set new records $3,100 in 3.0 and $3,089 in 2.5 just a tick up from the recent averages.  Satisfaction and No resto guarantee!  Board price just $2,695 leaving at least several hundred upside on what looks like a hot grail key at well below market!  Good luck finding anything in that grade range that presents as nice as this one with that beauty front cover!

SOLD!  Marvel Spotlight #5 1st & Origin Ghost Rider, 7.0/6.5 very sharp book, tight spine, great color, excellent page quality, very light wear marks only.  I have seen both 7.0 and strong 6.5 books show like this.  7.0 is $2,815 prior 12 months to $2568 90 days. 6.5 is $2,266 12 month to $2,037 90 day but already ticking back up at $2,185 for most recent sale.  Book has a solid chance at 7.0, but I will blow it out at $2,075, $110 below the most recent 6.5 price for a win win!  Satisfaction and No resto guarantee!

Green Lantern #59 CGC NM 9.0 Investment Grade 1st Guy Gardner (Countless appearances and solo series since the 1980s, a true fan favorite, but more importantly a Staring Character in the live action Green Lantern TV series coming up!  High GPA of $2,060,  $1,450 12 month GPA, 90 day GPA of $1317, but when the series hits making Guy Gardner a household name, an investment grade like this should be back at the top end of those prices!  Board Price just $1,250!

ALL AMERICAN 17 SCAN FOR REFERENCE, MASSIVE SPINE SPLIT (MY BOOKS DON'T HAVE) AND A HUGE PIECE OUT THAT SIZE STILL WARRANTS 2.5, MY BOOKS WITH TIGHT SPINE AND MUCH SMALLER PIECE OUT ARE LEGIT CANDIDATES FOR 3.0.

  2. Avengers 5, CGC 7.5 a very near tie for the 2nd Captain America and his 2nd appearance in the title.  Undervalued for that reason IMO, a 8.0 just sold for $1,140 this summer as the most recent sale, high GPA of $950 and low of $480 for nearly the past 2 years.  Board Price $545 .$525!

Thor 166 CGC NM 9.2 1st Thor vs. Warlock, 2nd Full Warlock (upcoming movies) Most recent $547, average $473 and rising.  Board price $499.

Check out my extensive major Key Kudos/Feedback! (Many Keys Bigger than these!)

TALES OF SUSPENSE #39 1st Iron Man, complete, presents well, complete no major pieces missing and not even any freaking Marvel Chipping on a 1.0! WOW!  Was CGC graded 1.0, but I had a pro remove the extra staples, some tape, minimize cover wrinkles with a press etc. Getting ready to send it back in for grading in hopes of 1.5 but I am fine with 1.0 that presents much nicer, far less tape, wrinkles minimized and does not have extra staples noted. Front cover shows like a champ for 1.0 or 1.5 either way and comes with EXCELLENT OFF WHITE PAGE QUALITY!  I decided to offer this here first before I send my next group of books in this weekend (If I see any interest, I may throw up some more raw heavy hitters like this tonight before shipping to CGC).  1.0 GPA has been rising, most recent $5,500 and most recent average of past 4 sales about $5,400! 1.5 average of $7,136 with a high of $8490 and low of $6100.  Board Price just $5,350, $5,250  (Scroll to bottom for better front cover scan Not in bag)

TOS 52 4.0 SALE FELL THROUGH, BUYER NEVER RESPONDED TO MY MULTIPLE CONTACTS. Tales of Suspense #52 CGC 4.0 1st Black Widow, Front cover shows a strong 5.0!  Highest 4.0 sales price $1,200. Most recent 5.0 $1,200, most recent 3.5 $725. This had a low recent sale slip through, but averaged $945 2021 and $840 prior 12 months!  Board Price just $595 on a book that front cover shows as nice as most 5.0 grades!  For scan scroll to the bottom of these scans.

AMAZING SPIDERMAN #14 CGC 3.5 green due to small coupon out of ad page does NOT affect story whatsoever.  Unlike most qualified that are missing pages etc, this one could have been given blue label 1.5 to 1.8 if requested! Just look at that front cover, looks strong 4.0/4.0+ at the very least!  For comparison a Qualified 3.5 with the entire page 12 missing sold for $1,500 this later summer as a comparable, but this is missing a small ad page coupon and could still get blue label 1.5/1.8 so this is worth way more in my book. 1.8 averaged nearly $1,400 past 12 months, most recent $1,250 for reference but this book looks about 10 times better than any 1.8!  Board price just $1,295  $1,245!

X-MEN #4 CGC 7.0 Ow/White Pgs, 2nd Magneto, 1st Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver & Brotherhood of Evil Mutants!  Sharp!  High GPA of $6,600, Average of $4700 2021 and prior 12 months both, abnormal low last sale, but the last 7.5 was $6,600 and last lower grade 6.5 sale was just barely $3,850 in August, so this book is priced WAY BELOW MARKET at just $3,950! $3,795!   I have heard that Key S.A. has stabilized and some are even on their way back up, I wouldn't wait for the Marvel relaunch of the X-Men movie franchise to snag this book up unless you want to pay closer to the recent averages or high point sales prices.

SOLD!  X-MEN 50 CGC 5.5 2nd Polaris, Origin of the Beast! High GPA of $400, past 12 months $362 with the lowest price at $262 and 2nd most recent at $389.   Board Price $299.

X-MEN 95 CGC NM 9.4 2nd appearance All New X-Men team members in title, 3rd overall. Death of Thunderbird!  Looks like it could have gotten 9.6 with a press ($1,086 GPA). Average prices at 9.4 $633 prior 12 months with a high sale price of $913 and a copy in June selling for $745!  Recent dip is temporary on a major early New XMen Key! Board Price just $535 $525 with an excellent CPR potential to more than double that on a resubmit!

X-Men 101 CGC 7.5 1st Phoenix from the most recent X-Men movie! High GPA of $950, most recent of $600 which was also the prior 12 month average, $700 average in 2021, Board price just $550!

Fantastic Four 35 CGC 8.5 White pgs! Pedigree from Collection of David Parsow, Stan Lee's Personal Tailor~ 1st Dragon Man, 2nd Diablo, X-Men/Spider-Man Cameo!  There are just no sales of this book in 8.5 past year, $425 for 8.0 $700/725 for 9.0, being a world famous pedigree with White pages puts this closer to the $700 range in my opinion, but board price just $595.  Hot, prices seem to be increasing still for this book in most grades.

SOLD Amazing Adventures 1 CGC 3.5 1961 KEY 1ST EVER MARVEL COMICS SUPER HERO.... DOCTOR DROOM!  No Marvel Key book collection is complete without this book!  Prices all over the place, a 1.9 sold for $450 in June 5.5 for $1235, yet this one had a low sale of $350 this summer, seems way under priced vs. other sales and WAY under valued given historical significance of this book. Board Price $375

Showcase 13 CGC 1.5 3rd Flash and 1st Mr. Element! High price of $700, low of $305, 12 month average of $503, board price $425.

Showcase 23 CGC 5.0 2nd Ever Green Lantern, Nuke explosion cover.  $433 average 12 month, 5.5 last sale $750 and 4.0 averaged $511, so 5.0 seems undervalued. $415 Board price, GL Live Action TV and a Big Movie are announced!

Showcase 24 CGC 5.5 3rd GL, Sharp great looking book!  12 month and 2021 averages about $400, board price $350, expect this book to heat way up with the Movie and Live action TV series a go, the actors are named and everything!

Green Lantern 59 CGC 6.5 Key 1st Guy Gardner to have a Big role in the upcoming GL Live Action TV series in pre production! Averages 12 month and prior year about $500.  I paid $454 on this one with plans to hold until the movie/live action TV series with a huge upside potential, but I need to raise funds for a big purchase.  Selling at loss $449 . $435!

Green Lantern 87  CGC 8.5 1st John Steward as Green Lantern (He will be the main GL in the next Big Movie!) Nearly $1K average last year, High GPA of $1,600!  $921 this year and $750 most recent. Just $735 $715 Board Price with huge up potential when the TV series and movie get closer!

Flash 105 CGC 1.8 1st Flash in own title, 1st Mirror Master!  Flash movie in full production!  Looks 2.0! Complete, no missing chunks as typical with almost every 1.8, presents amazingly well and has great 2.0+ potential with a press!  High $1050, Average $785, for comparison very similar looking 2.0 last sale was $1,251 and nearly $1,300 average with huge upswing potential with his own blockbuster movie on the way soon!  Board Price just $785 $775and I will resubmit for a 2.0 myself if not snagged by this Friday.

IRON MAN SUB MARINER #1 CGC 6.0 Key that leads into Iron Man #1 AND Sub Mariner #1 (The Amazing Fantasy #15 of both Iron Man and Sub Mariner leading into both successful self first titled series!) GPA Averaging close to $300 for both prior year and 90 day, a 5.0 just sold for $315 this past week!   Board Price $275 on a great presenting Marvel #1 Key that seems to be way undervalued for historical significance!

Aquaman #35 CGC 5.0 1st Black Manta Key!  Hot, GPA prices up along many price points with a New movie coming soon THIS YEAR!  Last 5.0 just sold for $425 and the last 4.5 sold for $450!  Board Price just $345!

Books are for sale, but I would consider a nice presenting ASM 50 or a lower grade FF5 as trade or partial trade/cash.

Yeah, it was a quite a while ago, but still feels like a few years to me!  However literally only a few years ago that I sold my Hulk 181 CGC 8.0 here on the boards for $1,300 and literally started doubling and tripling in market value over that next year after staying fairly stagnant in market prices for what seemed like a very long time.  Murphy's law, if your selling a grail, its probably at the very worst time!  :tonofbricks::roflmao:

That would have been no problem and Paypal is always accepted, but I had been negotiating payment arrangements with someone for much of yesterday and they finally said they would take it about 5 hours before your message.   If anything falls through with his first deposit payment coming in later today, I will let you know.

    Thanks!  -Terry

So we had ample back and forth and acceptance of the deal.  Keep in mind I had been fielding questions from multiple people on the book.  After already posting as sold, all of a sudden a separate PM comes through from mdean2437 as though we had never even discussed the book prior or that it had already been sold to him.  Not thinking much of it at the time, I had simply assumed it was from a different buyer since the book was already sold, (why would he have asked about the book if he had already committed to buy it?)  but didn't realize this was the same guy that bought the book until 2 months later when he used this same "Sorry Book Already Sold" PM to respond to me and ask to return the book, I was like what?  Are you even the original buyer? :makepoint:   He just had to email me or use the other purchase PM post and I would have not had to ask the pretty basic question to make sure, which I confirmed to him OK, you are the correct buyer the next day, I think a day before he even opened the paypal dispute.  Nearly 2 months had gone by, so it seemed like a logical question since he responded from this above Book Already Sold PM that I thought was someone completely different since it made no sense otherwise!

I have spent way too much of my last couple weeks dealing with this nightmare,  If you all want to take a vote from this thread based on everything presented, so be it, I will include some of the highlights below.   I don't have the desire to start over from scratch and summarize everything, but I feel anyone still following this thread to this point have a pretty good idea and support for everything already.  I don't know how long I will be dealing with the fallout from paypal from this, it has already affected me quite significantly to this point with no end in sight.

  8. Word to the wise, when you post in two different PM's threads like you are two different buyers and respond two months later asking for a return using the 2nd PM thread where I say sorry, the book is already sold to someone else, you should not use that same PM thread to ask for a return or be surprised by me asking if you are even the original buyer since you did not post your request from the original sales thread, instead you used the one that I said sorry the book was already sold!.  No me asking if you are even the original buyer 2 months later coming from that already sold PM thread is still not a good reason to post a bogus paypal dispute, especially when I realized you were the original buyer the next day right after you sent me an email.

Never sold this guy a Hulk 181 (even though he posted many multiple messages above about that) I think he is showing someone else offered a resto guarantee on a book he bought maybe?  A lot of what this guy posts in dozens of emails and PM's don't make a lot of sense.  Even though it had been 2 months, I did offer a return guarantee it was unrestored a good 6-8 different times after he placed the paypal dispute so I could get all my funds released, I did this multiple times over days and days, but he still would not even respond to me or release the paypal dispute until after I got this message board started and we found the ebay sales posts and feedback. (tsk)  I am confident this guy has some serious issues, but this has been the worst experience you can imagine!

  9. Essentially I am made whole, I am ready to put this all behind me and move on.  The dispute is gone and my $2,425 has been released.   However after using paypal since the late 90s/early 00s with a perfect track record, they are now holding all my funds on new sales until the day after they can verify the item was received, (not shipped, freaking received).  Never before have I seen that in my life, so there must be some strike against me still dinging me from this and I still have to get them to fix that.  The customer service rep yesterday said she couldn't do it, its a system/computer function and put me on hold for over an hour to talk to a manager after which time I hung up.  Not the end of the world, I always deliver what I am paid for, but just a pain in the arse since I usually like to have those funds cleared before I ship and deliver.  :(

PAYPAL: You have $5,997.99 on hold

  10. Sent me multiple PM's and multiple emails tonight, some were short and hard to understand, but below contains almost everything of substance.

I tell you all of this not looking to blame anyone other than myself. I realize my crazy was the catalyst and then the fuel for your mistrust.  I am back normal and not shutting myself off so you will see much quicker response times.  I did think by asking PayPal to drop it would drop.  I have since canceled.
I don't expect you to understand or care. These things  are not your problem.  To give you an idea the reason I asked for your pic's was because at 1 point I thought family was out to get me.  Which all they do is try to protect me.

My point I caused the problem and mistrust I see that. I am doing all I know to make it right.  Full disclosure, pictures, and dropped PayPal

Get the police in involved.  There is no fraud.  Just hold your houses and wait for some pictures.  If you still feel that way. Fit. I let CGC decide.  If nothing else I'll know your a liar.  Because I can guarantee I haven't touched the book. The spine tics are still there in full force.

I did overreact and that I aplogized for.

Just wait for pictures.   At this point I don't care about the book. I care about being publicly defamed, accusing me of fraud.  That sir is not cool.  Once you see the pictures and see nothing has changed   I expect you to admit so publicly if you have accused me of fraud publicly.  Otherwise I will start looking into legal options.

Ha! I haven't color touched anything.  I'll take some better pictures of it. Whenever I get home tonight. I'll send all the pictures you want.  I will go ahead and send to CGC too. Assuming your telling the truth then it gets a Blue label.   Before y8u

I'm closing the cas on PayPal as an act of good faith.  I asked PayPal to close it if you read the message. I'll go do it manually

MY RESPONSE   (and to be fair he did send me some scans, at least one of them looked a bit better and more like my original scan of the book, hopefully it was recent)

You have no idea the hell you have caused me.  Paypal put a freeze not only on all those funds from this long ago sale, but all the large sales I have done since then until I provide proof of delivery/happy customer etc!  The biggest problem you have is you opened that paypal dispute even though you had already sold the book on ebay and even had feedback on it from the buyer to prove you are not even in possession of the book anymore and couldn't send it to CGC or to me as you no longer even had it!  Worse yet, your ebay posting/sale guaranteed it unrestored and a strong 9.0 that you had practically stolen from me while saying the opposite to paypal!  That was an unforgivable dishonest act and it was also highly illegal.  The kinds of dollars we are talking about for doing an act like that put this in the class of attempted grand theft larceny and interstate fraud that is easily provable, so you can't be doing stuff like that!  I can't tell you how much hell and stress you have put me through over the past week with all this!

  11. After I told him the road I was going down to expose this fraud to ebay/payapl/CGC mods and possibly the police etc.(thanks to you guys helping me find his ebay sales/feedback evidence!)  he finally responded tonight and removed the paypal dispute!   He stated he never color touched it up, but was just a blurry ebay scan, however he ignored the ebay sales/feedback evidence and was still acting like he had the book which we all know is not true.  There is at least a chance the scan he put up on ebay was just blurry, I can't say for fact it was color touch he added to those spine ticks without the book in my hand, but it sure does look extremely suspicious, especially with him pointing out that he thought that area might be a problem area for his reason in wanting a return after 2 months, although that time frame went right along with the ebay auction ending for slightly less than his purchase price with me.  He also told me he wanted to cancel his ebay sale and return it to me instead which made me suspicious from the start!   We all clearly see in the auction where he guaranteed it was unrestored and a strong 9.0!  :roflmao:  Regardless, he lost all benefit of the doubt after selling it twice on ebay and for sure closing on the most recent sale in which he already got feedback from a somehow happy buyer at the same time as opening a fraud paypal dispute for a book he no longer even owned and yet he acted tonight like he still had it, was sorry for ghosting me and could still send it into CGC!   Like if you ignore hard facts enough, maybe we will just forget them?     (tsk)  I could tell it was my threat of going to the police that made him finally contact me, remove the paypal dispute and suddenly become sorry for putting me through all this!  :tonofbricks:  What say you all, should I still push this evidence of what he tried to do with ebay/paypal so they know what he did and the hell he put me through?

    Again

Do you KNOW this to be true?

He came at me with two completely different PM threads on different days like he was two different buyers asking about it, I even told him it was already sold on the later follow up threads where he was still inquiring about it, so that threw me off when two months later he responded to me from that thread where I had stated it was already sold, but I think it was the same account.

  13. Just look how he described this comic in his ebay sales post!   Pathetic!

    VF+++ 8.5 or Higher

I'm hoping the person I purchased this comic from don't see this, but I would have paid another $1500 for the comic and sent it directly to CGC . Seriously if I'm into a comic low enough BOOM auction (qty/more comics sold) that in the ends meets are exceeds maximizing profit ie grading but for me that all depends how much Into it I am

I am betting my immediate offer and not the usual trying to trade with me getting a 30% kicker I try to get would  have tipped my hand  But then again I am not sure if we traded before  so maybe not lol I would really hate to  tip my hat, but this aint a sales pitch, this is my opinion, my

prospective,  that's how I feel about his copy.

  14. So when he said he could cancel his ebay sale and send the book back to me as he was "worried something was wrong with the lower left spine", take a look side by side from when I posted the book and later after he touched up the spine slightly and posted it on ebay.  Looks like he added micro color touch to minimize the lower 3 spine ticks.  So he wanted to make slightly more than his ebay sale by instead returning the book to me, stick me with a now slightly restored book in place of my unrestored book I sent him and when I gave him push back on the return unless he sent it to CGC and once I requested scans to prove he didn't tamper with the book, he ghosted me and followed through with the ebay sale getting good feedback from a unsuspecting buyer that will someday find out it now has slight color touch when they send it into CGC.  Being mad at me, he is still pushing this fraud paypal dispute to try and get $2,425 back from me, which if they rule in his favor will probably get me an empty box in the mail while stealing my money ($2,425)!
