  1. I have a nice 7.0 graded copy of this book! I purchased raw at an auction and was one of only three comics (so far) that I mailed for grading. It's a SOTI book too.
  2. Great idea for a thread!! This one is lame though revealing for kids! Doesn't quite fill me with horror: maybe some other emotion!!
  3. This is my raw copy. I love this cover and plan on submitting for grading.
  4. Hello Friends, I just rejoined CGC tonight! I was a member back in 2010 (where does the time go!!) so I could get 3 free coupons to submit for grading. At the time I never submitted for grading before so was quite happy with the three raw books I snagged at the Richfield PA auction the year before: all three came back 7.0. This PLANET COMICS is also from the same auction so joined tonight because I have many more in similar condition that I've opened and read carefully but would like slabbed. This is my only PLANET COMIC but I loved the cover so much I had to have it!! Hope you like.
  5. Great stuff! You've just got to read THE BRAIN BEAST! I see that issue also has the classic Bradbury story CHANGELING. Nice collection:)
  6. I'm a big WILCO and JAYHAWKS fan so I've had the GOLDEN SMOG album for years! Yeas, great cover and great music: give it a spin:)
  7. The Rosenbach Museum and Library in Philadelphia is interested in the TWO WORLDS collection: I e-mailed them pictures and they may make me an offer! They do not have a complete collection so hoping these magazines eventually end up in in a museum for others to enjoy! I'll be happy to make a few bucks so I can buy more comics...and visit more auctions:-)
  8. I'll have to check it out! I just picked up a copy of WEIRD MYSTERIES #1 at a local auction but would trace any day for #5!
  9. I posted last week about the collection of pulps I discovered at a local junk auction for $30 which inlcuded some WEIRD TALES, UNKNOWN, and FAMOUS MYSTERIES all from the late 30s to early 50s; approx. a hundred issues. Well, I found some interesting literary magazines mixed in the lot and hoping someone can help identify rarity and value. As I sorted through the lot yesterday I discovered a bunch of magazines (slightly larger than pulp size but smaller than modern) called TWO WORLDS. The fifteen issues have James Joyce's ULYSSES published....before the first authorized American printing! These date from 1926-27, and are pre-dated by another set of five magazines (same publisher) that reprint ULYSSES as the new "Unamed" work of Joyce. I researched the publishing history of ULYSSES and these mags seem to be rare: though I find mention of them I can find no value. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated:)
  10. Too cool! Nice addition and wonderful condition!
  11. Thanks Scrooge! I was checking out ebay and one of the FAMOUS issues sports an Ayn Rand cover story and seems to sell for $40+ in good condition. A few others have Lovecraft stories with art so I'll continue to research...and read, of course! I don't know if this is the forum to talk about selling but I will definately be posting these under my ebay name which is the same as I use in these forums. Since my investment is small I'm not really that concerned with guide pricing, just getting these books into the hands of others who love them!
  12. I just purchased this 100+ pulp lot at a junk auction last night! I was lucky enough to spot an old box of magazines on a table and when I approached I saw this: From Comics From Comics I don't know much about pulps but I the illustrations are vey cool, though I recognized WEIRD TALES right away. I need to do some research because a quick glance shows stories by Lovecraft, Bradbury, Howard, Leiber, and other legendary writers with illustrations by Virgil Finlay. I hope I spent my $30 well!
  13. After I read this one, I'm considering sending this to CGC to be graded. I just joined and am trying to decide which three books to submit for free.
  14. Great work and thanks for posting...except now I need to own every one! I could kick myself for passing up the WEIRD MYSTERIES last week though I just got this one at a local miscellanious auction for a few dollars: From Comics
  15. Here are a few of my recent purchases: the STRANGE WORLDS was from eBay and the other two from local miscellanious auctions. From Comics From Comics From Comics
  16. Thanks October! Just wonderin' since I'm building my collection bit by bit though I get a huge thrill when I find rare books that have never seen the light of modern day. I just purchased my first two books from eBay but am not home to crack them open: I'll have to wait until Sunday night! I also just won a few books at a local auction to include BATMAN #81 and WEIRD MYSTERIES #1 in nice condition way below guide: I'll post pictures in a day or so:)
  17. Being new to the forums (but not to collecting) I'm interested in how most people come across their golden age gems: do you buy from eBay, local comic stores, trade/buy from others in these forums, or spend time looking for comics at estate sales. I rarely buy from other collectors and try to find "new" books at yard/estate sales, ungraded comics that have never been in the hands of collectors and become new to the marketplace. Of course, this is way slow but the payoff is great with often very low prices for great stuff. I've completed runs on my EC New Trend an filled in early STRANGE WORLDS for a few bucks by sifting through boxes at flea markets and auctions, though I'm not averse to dropping good money for a key issue that I've just gotta have!
  18. I love the CRIME covers! I need to land a few for my collection. Congrats!
  19. I haven't read this one yet but looks interesting...especially the see-through robe! I'm in the market for the '47 version but have never actually seen one. From Comics
  20. This cover is very cool too, and another new addition from the Richfield auction. From Comics
  21. Thanks for the kind welcome! It's nice to talk with other collectors that have similiar interests. here's that FLYING SAUCERS: From Comics
  22. Here's another cool comic from the auction last week. I have about half of the series but this is my favorite cover! From Comics
  23. Great looking book! I love the black covers but they're difficult to find in nice condition. I just picked up a copy of FLYING SAUCERS (1952 version) at an auction with a sweet cover!
