  1. I picked them up. It was nice to see Gen 13 in action again, but I found the two issues to be underwhelming.
  2. You guys can go ahead and block a user named uren_adon. He bought a comic from me for $1.99 and never bothered to pay for it.
  3. Gen 13 still has a special place in my heart. My Gen 13 memorabilia (slabs, posters, toys, statues, etc.) will get a prominent place in my new comic room when I start setting it up in a few months.
  4. Mary Jane should never be drawn to look like she and Alfred E. Neuman were separated at birth.
  5. ok I can't hold it anymore who is that sexy girl with the baseball bat? That's the 2012 NYCC Blue Rainbow Exclusive "Nice" Variant of Rookie #1. damn she's hot and thanks for the answer There's a "naughty" version, too.

  7. I posted this elsewhere on the boards today, but I may as well post it here too. I had the Devilfish as a kid, but I lost all the pieces to it over time. It feels nice to now add a complete one to my collection.
  8. Here's someone that you probably don't want to do business with: watcol_rn1ftinox I bought a copy of Wizard #1 from this seller that was described as being near mint. The picture below shows the magazine that was advertised in the seller's auction. The following picture shows the copy of Wizard #1 that I received from watcol_rn1ftinox. Do you see the problem? If not, look at the next two pictures which show the magazine sitting directly on top of another Wizard mag. As you can see, this isn't the magazine that was advertised, because the one I got has a big chunk missing from it. I contacted the seller about this issue and asked if they had sent me the wrong copy or something. The seller said no and then claimed that the copy I received wasn't the one that they sent me. As you can imagine, I was unhappy with my purchase. The seller told me that they'd refund me if I returned the magazine, but insisted that I pay for the return shipping. I said that that wasn't going to happen and I tried to initiate a return through eBay. The seller never responded to that request, so I ultimately had to get eBay involved to get my money back.
  9. Here's someone that you guys might want to block: tonygoldfinger I haven't dealt with him myself and I don't even know if he buys comics, but he negs sellers who don't leave him feedback. I know that I'd rather not do business with someone like that.
  10. I've been feeling nostalgic lately and I've been buying toys that I used to really enjoy when I was a kid. Here's something that I managed to acquire after contacting someone through an online classified ad. Now I need to go dig up all my old G.I.Joes and fill that base.
  11. Rob Liefeld responds to Robbi Rodriguez The thing I found most interesting about that article is that the image of the Campbell comic used for it is actually a scan that I posted in a sales thread here on the boards. Other parts of it may be of more interest to the rest of you.
  12. A few pages back I nominated LarrysComics for the probation list. Our issues have since been resolved, so I'd like to formally retract my nomination. I'll now show myself out of this thread. I hope that I never have a reason to come back to it.
  13. It seems that Larry is going above and beyond to make things right with me, so there isn't much left for me to say about the situation. However, I do want to say one more thing about my "9.8 potential" comment. I'm not someone who sends books to CGC for grading, so I never ask sellers to provide me with comics that will grade out at 9.8 So why did I do it in this case? Well, after thinking about it, I remembered that Larry was making posts like this on his Google+ page in reference to his Spider-Gwen variants: "I'll screen gorgeous copies for you!" "I'll screen my copies for the best for you guys." It sounded like he was going to be screening the books anyway, so asking him to send me the best books possible didn't seem out of line. I'll definitely be careful about how I word things when dealing with sellers in the future.
  14. That would be one heck of a gesture. I'll be sure to let everyone on the board know about it if you follow through with it.
  15. The word "potential" was used for a reason. At not point did I state that I expected to get books guaranteed to grade at 9.8. I was just looking for ones without visible flaws. That isn't unreasonable. And do you think I want to be returning things to the US from Canada? Of course not. That's why it doesn't hurt to ask a seller to make sure he's sending you high-grade comics when he's got a stack of 3,000 or so to pick from.
  16. "I'd really appreciate it if you could pick out copies with 9.8 potential for me." That isn't adding terms. That's telling you that the customer would really appreciate it if you could take an extra minute to ensure that you're providing him with high-grade books.
  17. Semantics was definitely a factor here, but given that Larry is a seller who has more than one occasion proclaimed himself to be someone who looks after readers and collectors, I didn't think my request would be misunderstood or even an issue. And yes, if Larry had simply got in touch with me to say that he can't guarantee that I'll get 9.8 copies, there wouldn't have been a problem.
  18. When I said "I'd really appreciate it if you could pick out copies with 9.8 potential for me," I simply meant that I'd like it if Larry (or whoever packs his books) could just take a second to make sure that the books that were being sent to me looked good. Shame on me for wanting nice copies.
  19. I'd like to nominate LarrysComics for the probation list. I've informed him of this via PM. I ordered some Phantom variants from him in February and followed his ordering instructions to the letter. When I payed him with Paypal, I included the following message: "Hi Larry. Here's $49.99 for 3 copies of the Spider-Gwen #1 Phantom variant (color) + shipping to Canada. I'd really appreciate it if you could pick out copies with 9.8 potential for me. Thanks!" On February 19, I received a tracking number for my order. A few days ago, my comics still hadn't arrived, so I went to track my books to see where they were. When I did, I discovered that the most recent tracking information still dated from February 19 when a shipping label was created. I e-mailed Larry to see what was up and didn't get a response. I tried to get in touch with him again today by PM and was successful. I told Larry about the situation and to his credit, he got right on the case to see what was going on. Shortly thereafter, I received a refund from Larry and the following PM: "Yes... You requested 9.8's That in my experience is BAD news. I just refunded you, thought I did it that day. Apologies. Not getting roped into that game. Sorry." Larry then proceeded to remove himself from our conversation. I was going to let this go, but after some consideration, I felt it necessary to bring this to the board's attention. If this had happened to another boardie, I would definitely have wanted to be made aware of it so that I could actively avoid doing business with the seller who wronged him.
  20. Here's another deadbeat buyer that you can all add to your lists: starus-ppbtv
  21. I'm jealous. I've got some coming, but they haven't been delivered yet.
