  1. Drop. Hit the ground! Make my comics affordable!
  2. let the bubble burst. I want cheap comics!
  3. You would have started a butterfly effect by simply being there, which means anything you saw wouldn't be the same. Isn't that the whole poibt of the butterfly effect? The slightest change (just you stepping into that world) could have any number of implications. Past or future. Even if you didn't do anything in the future apart from buying one comic book you would change the future and the same if you went to the future. This topic is just for a discussion. The philosophical factor. Nothing else.
  4. The specific reason I said clone was to avoid the whole time machine conundrum and also to step away from the counterfeits. This is just purely a philosophical discussion. There is no conspiracy theory to copy your books. Would it be better if I painted a scenario? The year is 2020. Humans have the ability to perfectly replicate any physical object, down to the last atom. Any DNA on the item is retained as is. Items are copied like for like. Looking at them under a microscope, scientists can't discern the original from the copy. It is so cheap that each copy costs only 10.00 USD. The only problem is it only seems to work with comic books and even the cases for those slabbed comics that them nerds talk so much about. These are not counterfeits and unfortunately it's only 2020, so no time machine yet (except for going into 2020 for the purpose of this philosophical discussion)
  5. Absolutely it would crash, but the question is would you or anyone else still be interested in their comics if they were only worth 10 USD?
  6. But it's not authentic. That's shy reprints would be excluded from this. You can still have collectibles that aren't valuable. Is it merely because of the monetary value you'd lose?
  7. The point is, if you can clone, so can others. The original question was specifically directed as yourself as a owner. I would. My grails involve a Hulk 181 9.0 and X-men 6.0 signed by Stan Lee. I'd have no issues with the book being copied. For me the value us is in what the books represent and not their monetary value. It's asking the question of would you be happy to have your books cloned to own whichever book you wanted? Read more into the implications of it. The cloning is open to everyone's books.
  8. You never wanted to own all of those great key issues? I do. I have goals for collecting which I know I'll likely never achieve due to the insane cost and inflation some books have gone through.
  9. Depends on your perception. If this helps, if your books were signed or touched by anyone. Any vestigial DNA would still be on your book. The signature would be there.
  10. The point being that anyone has access to this cloning machine and could flood the market. The question is, would you be willing to sacrifice the monetary value of your books so that you and everyone could own the same book?
  11. It depends why you collect. For you it seems obvious that it's for their monetary value, and hey to each their own. I collect because I like the books, the piece of history with them. Even if they were worthless I'd still collect them. I might not slab them.
  12. They would be cloned like for like. If graded they would come back with the same grade/pq. Any rusted staples, spine ticks, tears would also be replicated.
  13. Because it's a Sunday and I have to go to work tomorrow time to start some . If comic books could be cloned , and you had mega rare key issues(Tec27, AC1, AF15, etc), would you let your books be cloned so that everyone could have them? The cloning process is cheap, like 10 USD a book, and there is no damage to your books, except obviously the value of your book as now there could be infinite amount of said rare books. Discuss!
  14. Shhhhhhh. what are you doing? Just because some insufficiently_thoughtful_persons voted out doesn't mean we should suffer, plus... What are you doing?
  15. For the obvious cool stuff factor, Flash/Superman would be great. Xavier would be nice as well, but I like my legs. The Vanisher would be amazing if you're into robbing banks, although most money now isn't really physical.
  16. I remember when I joined. This was an active forum. Over the years I dropped in and out according to personal circumstances, but I've definitely noticed a change when I came back. There seemed to be an influx of sellers going way above GPA and not giving a about the community. Sellers used to be involved in active discussion and would actually sell to other collectors, not speculators. Love the hype the movies bring but at the same time I think it brought the type of sellers that are more interested in flipping than collecting.
  17. I am and the owner has sent me a link. Years later this is still for me, the best of the best. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=875701 Thank you @mad-dogz
