  1. Holy Mackerel . Funny, the centering isn't quite 100%, which I suppose I'd expect from anything over a 9.8. Still an incredible book.
  2. Argh! . If it's really mold, it's going into the garbage. I'm not going to pass it off to someone else. Really frustrating - I got a really nice price on this copy. Any other opinions? Would love to be pretty certain before tossing this book - there's no smell that I could notice.
  3. I just received my very first piece of OA! I've long appreciated OA pieces from afar, but haven't been able to pull the trigger on anything with the market being what it is. Well, this Alfredo Alcala panel from SSOC 89 came up at a recent Heritage auction, and it really spoke to me. I'll be honest - I was not familiar with Alcala's work prior to this, but I really love this piece - it features our favorite Cimmerian, and the story takes me back to playing D&D as a kid . I now totally get the passion that OA collectors have for the hobby - there's something really magical about getting up close to a panel and looking at each stroke; it's like staring at history. I'll have to continue very gradually with my new OA "collection", but I'm hoping this is the first of many .
  4. Here are some closer pics - it's definitely green-ish, but looks like an ink smudge or spray:
  5. Yikes! Im not sure - I'll inspect again in a bit. How do I know if it's mold?
  6. Ahhh, this cover . Picked this up at a local show - book presents really well, but sadly there are not one, but two spine splits. FC split is prob about 1" to 1.5", BC split comes down a good 2" if not a little more. Would love any feedback - thanks!
  7. Hello! Picked up a well-loved copy of FF 16; would love thoughts on the grade. Staples are hanging on for dear life, but are indeed attached. Thanks!
  8. Hello! Just picked this one up - really nice book structurally, however there is a major chunk missing from the FC. Staples are in good shape, no other enormous defects. Thanks for looking!
  9. I hadn't realized 9.5's were even a thing. Very nice book - GLWTS!
  10. Has anyone ever read all of Prince Valiant? As a kid I had always been fascinated by the incredible artwork in the newspaper strips but never felt able to jump into it. Seems like an interesting (and somewhat daunting) undertaking, and there are a few volumes available on Hamilton Books. Curious if it's worth taking on.
  11. Looks like a great resource - thank you for sharing!
  12. Might just be me, but the jpg links are bringing up an error message
  13. Picked this beauty up off of the boards early last year - a tad off-center, but still a pretty nice copy
  14. Sounds like an awesome idea - seems like an awesome run to complete. I might post a few of my recent pickups too to help get things moving
